"You want me to follow or do you wants some quiet?"

The dwarf smiles somewhere beneath the bushy beard.

Ciar shrugs,"Just looks like a dark tunnel. I'll check it out and see what I can find out and then hurry back."

Ciar disappears down the tunnel, heading east.

Sparrow looks worried.

Now I wish we would have tied a rope around him.

Ciar returns, unharmed after a long ten minutes. The halfling indicates that the narrow tunnel pretty much heads straight east, which he suspects might put it at or near the quarry.

Kassal smiles and asks someone to lower him slowly into the pit if they wouldn't mind. "This could lead us exactly where we need to go," he says excitedly. "Perhaps if we left a rope attached here we could have a swift way out invade things go but south further along. What do you think?

Fulp asks,

Did you see any more signs of the kobalds out there? I wonder if those 3 were to guard their main camp from this direction.

So, this was kinda like a guard room then? Sparrow says with a smirk.

Ciar shakes his head at Kassal, "We don't need a rope; it's not but a five foot drop there. I was able to climb out on my own."

Addressing the whole group, he adds, "I guess I wasn't clear. It's just a small, cramped tunnel heading straight east. If it does go to the quarry, then it's probably a good half mile of 3' high tunnel. Going half way down the tunnel and bumping into a contingent of kobolds, or worse, isn't what I would call fun. I'd prefer to approach them under open air, myself..."

Fulp then asks,

So, you think we should barricade this opening, to keep them from coming this way? They will figure out that their 3 buddies are not around soon enough and come looking.

Sparrow

I agree with Ciar! Better to fight them on our terms than in a cramped tunnel.

Sparrow

If we've seen everything we can here, let's retrieve the body and then go see what Ciar can open with his new keys. I bet one is for the front door of the wizards house.

Ciar nods, "It's not the lock on the front door I'm worried about, though. It's whatever killed that kobold you lot found outside his house the other day. Kassal, is that sort of thing a one-time deal? Or can a ward like that keep protecting for an indefinite period?"

"Only powerful arch mages can create permenant wards usually, most spells of such, once activated are exhausted. Unless of course it was renewed before the wizard left. . " says the wizard.
"There may be a way to check however. If we could get a kobold body to through at the door perhaps. Or an animal like a cat or dog!"

Ciar shakes his head, "I'll try it myself before I test it on a cat."

As they talk, Ciar leads the way back to the wizard's house. He hopes the old man never had a chance to renew his protective ward on his house...

Sylvan smiles. "I've prepared a spell to detect the presence of magic. Another for evil. Perhaps we carry the mage's body to his front door, and I cast both. Then tomorrow we head to the quarry and remove more of those damnable kobolds from the ranks of the living."
