Greetings all!

The game thread is up and I have added the five players that we have so far. (Campaign #300)

This thread will be for char-gen guidelines and discussion.

I will start posting starting XP's and house rules etc. shortly then fill out the rest of the threads in the next couple of days.

Feel free to start throwing out ideas for your character.

Thanks!

You can use the 4d6, drop the lowest, and arrange in any order, method for attributes. Feel free to re-roll if you get a set that you deem unplayable. I would rather have above average characters that you enjoy playing than to have one or two who are completely inept. Please don't roll 300 times until you get 4-18's either. Min-maxing will be highly frowned upon.

The discrepancy between the classes is to encourage you to create a "thinking" type of character as opposed to a big dumb brute. That's not to say that there wont be a need for fighters, there will be plenty of stuff to kill. I'm simply trying to avoid having an entire party of tough fighters that couldn't think their way out of a wet paper bag.

I think there is one (sick) Magic-user in the works already, but that doesn't mean we couldn't have another.

Again....anything out of the ordinary is fine with me. Run any ideas you might have by me and I'm sure we can work something out.

I'm thinking about trying to keep this as close to 1E as possible so I don't want to allow too much other stuff. If you absolutely have to use something from the UA or elsewhere, let me know what you want to do and I might allow it if it fits together well with your character concept.

Multi-class XP will be handled on a individual basis but is totally fine by me.

Hit points:

You can take max hit points for 1st level and roll a hit die for each level after that.

OR......you can take one number above half your hit die and use that for EVERY level.

Starting $: Whatever you think is reasonable. You've survived and advanced to your current level somehow, you must have some coin.

Magic items: Each player can pick one magic item for their character that they want to use, (within reason) and I might toss in a couple of others that you may need. (depending on what you all choose)

Cleric/Thief
Fighter/Thief
Unknown

As soon as the character sheets are posted.......we roll!

I don't really require a lengthy background for each character but keep in mind that the adventure evolves around you investigating and hopefully solving these strange disappearances. Please remember to leave me a reason or idea to tie you in to that if you can. Thanks.

Well you see I was going to pick something like a Robe of Useful things or Robe of the Archmagi or Staff of the Magi but I did not want to go too powerful...

You should pick watever you want. If it's to powerful, I will let you know.

If you pick something minor, I will give you something else to compensate.

Either way is cool with me.

Alright I'll take the ring of protection off and replace it with Staff of the Magi.

That would be a perfect example of an item that was too powerful.

How about a Lesser Staff of the Mage.

One charge expanded for the first list of powers. 1/day

Two charges expanded for the second list. 1/day

+2 on AC and Saves vs. Magic

You know it's getting low on charges but you're not certain exactly how many remain.

Sound ok?

The dice roller really hates me tonight. Trying to roll up a character and I am getting horrible rolls. How about two fives and a seven...in the same roll!
Sometimes this summer I will most likely be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.
