Martin ponders the deamon's request before answering.
"I'll join you," he finally says. "Not so much to help you as to free Bromric from your taint."
"Now, what can you tell me about this?" he says as he holds out piece of Divine AmberTM.

Re: Loot and Treasure 2
To Bromric: "I myself, cannot swear to help you on your quest. I may decide to accompany you, but if your ultimate goal should go against my better judgment I reserve the right to decide at that time. If that means you will not identify these items, so be it, my honor will remain intact. I had trusted Bromric as a friend, but hear this, threatening to team up with our enemies or enemies of Vaul will end in conflict between us and I will do everything in my power to ensure that you are NOT successful in your mission if that is the path you choose."
We have an unusual problem of too many magic weapons, and not enough hands able to wield them. My opinion of split will be in red
Ulf has the magic hammer, sensibility would say to let a cleric wield that - but it seems that all have relinquished their rights to it by preferring other magic items as compensation. Hammer + cash
Bromric has the cursed sword, the next most powerful weapon, though cursed. If we get his character back, this would be a good share as major magic item. Cursed sword + mithril knife + cash
Bertram currently carries a +1 sword and a +1 lance. I would be fine with either, my preference would be the sword, or bracers plus lance. Broadsword + cash
Mokatah currently carries a dragon helm and would prefer that as his first pick of the treasure. He would also be the natural fit for whatever weapon is not kept by Bertram. Helm + lance + lesser amount of cash (for getting 2 magic items)
Martin carries a +1 shield, and seems fine with keeping that. Shield + cash
Constance has a magical dagger, no one else has displayed any desire for it, so it makes a good fit. Dagger + cash
Krysta wants the scroll, no one has objected to this so I think this is an easy decision. Scroll + boots or potion (maybe?) + cash
Galen carries no magic items, but would like the other magical shield or the elf ring. Shield + cash
Abi carries no magic items, and has not demonstrated any particular want. I would suggest the ring (if Galen doesn't get it), the boots (with enough cash to repair them), or the bracers (if she is able to wear them). Ring + cash
Seadu carries no magic items, I don't believe I have heard his opinion on the split. I am leaning towards awarding him the bracers, boots, or ring as well. Bracers + cash
Of course this all could be thrown off based on what we find out about the ring.

Seadu is interested in (in this order): the ring, the briar boots, the bracers.KingOfCowards wrote:…Seadu carries no magic items, I don't believe I have heard his opinion on the split. I am leaning towards awarding him the bracers, boots, or ring as well. Bracers + cash

However, he will happily take last pick after everyone else has already taken what they want.
Re: Loot and Treasure 2
I would be amenable to throwing an extra 200 go with the boots (reduces everyone's share by about 20 gp), so whoever gets them can fix them.

Re: Loot and Treasure 2
Constance steps toward the Visitor with her walking pole in hand. "I'll accompany on your journey, Stranger. When at last you reach your goal and leave Bromric be, he'll need some friendly faces at his side."
Re: Loot and Treasure 2
Anyone can use the bracers, and will gain the benefit thereof if they are not also using a shield.
Re: Loot and Treasure 2
So one could get the AC benefit from that and still use a two-handed weapon?
Lug would go for those. Shame he's not in this group.

BTW, Rhodri translates the text on the ring as follows: "In the spirit of eternal alliance, let any elf-friend bearing this ring stand within the sanctum of the Eisenloch without fear."
Re: Loot and Treasure 2
(I have no issue with KingOfCowards' treasure split.)
Going on next quest: Martin, Constance, Bertram (It is up to Keenhelf if Bertram counts).
Definitely not going on quest: Krysta, Ulf, Galen
Need Response: Abi, Seadu, Mokata

"That is all you wish?" asks the visitor-in-Bromric. "It is a small thing to fix the boots as well if it is part of your bargain, to reduce your concerns."Dogma wrote:"Now, what can you tell me about this?" he says as he holds out piece of Divine AmberTM.
He looks afronted by Galen. "You do not have trust in yourselves? What is it you need to have confidence in your efforts? You wish to see what lies ahead? Go unseen in the keep's passage ways? Make that your bargain, then. Bromric trusted your skill to find a way, with my help you are simply doubly likely to succeed."...this guy doesn't have a plan, he's just promising to help us help him. Too dicey for me.

Re: Loot and Treasure 2
To be clear: Ulf hasn't said whether he'll go on that little trip or not. He sure as hell won't promise to go, and he'd much rather see Bromric sitting in a cell, or at least having someone from the temple try to separate the demon from Bromric (not sure why no one wanted to see if the Protection from Evil trick would work). But if the demon actually gets a group to go? Ulf might follow just to keep an eye on the demon. Or he might decide not to have anything to do with a creature as obviously smarmy and manipulative as the demon is.
"Fueled by Law" indeed. Uh-huh. Remember folks: EVIL.

Re: Loot and Treasure 2
Also to be clear: Bertram doesn't count, since he explicitly said he won't make any binding agreement.

"I can't let Bromrics life be ruined because I allowed him to take that sword, I will atone for that mistake one way or another."
Treasure wise Mokatah is fine with his helmet, broken bolt, and gold but if no one objects he will gladly grab the lance as well (as proposed by KingofCowards)

Re: Loot and Treasure 2
I'm in agreement with the above split.
Krysta also looks at the potion to try and see if she can tell what it is. Has she seen its like before?

Re: Loot and Treasure 2
She has not.
Re: Loot and Treasure 2
That was very clearly OOC; it's my opinion as a player, not anything that Galen said. All Demon-guy got was that no, Galen won't take his deal.marullus wrote:He looks afronted by Galen.spartakos wrote:...this guy doesn't have a plan, he's just promising to help us help him. Too dicey for me.
This is Galen's stance, and it appears to be Bertram's stance as well. I didn't mean that it was too risky to try, just that it was too risky to make any kind of oath on (especially as I strongly suspect these promises will be magically binding).Zhym wrote:To be clear: Ulf hasn't said whether he'll go on that little trip or not. As I recall, Bromric said trying this would just let the demon loose in the flesh, who would then have less incentive to aid us and be pissed off because it made it harder for him to go home. Truth? Not sure, but again, seemed too risky.(not sure why no one wanted to see if the Protection from Evil trick would work).
In better news, I think we've almost got loot figured out.
Re: Loot and Treasure 2
I'd be surprised if kicking the demon out of Bromric let it take corporeal form. I'd be more worried that the demon might take someone else over, but I'd think the sword would have to be invoked somehow. But it's all guesswork, of course.Spartakos wrote:As I recall, Bromric said trying this would just let the demon loose in the flesh, who would then have less incentive to aid us and be pissed off because it made it harder for him to go home. Damn... you are a sadly suspicious group. He's the most honest extra-planar creature I've ever played.
Going on next quest: Martin, Constance
Definitely not going on quest: Krysta, Ulf, Galen, Bertram
Need Response: Abi, Seadu, Mokata
So, with that, Abi, Seadu, and Mokata all need to agree and everyone gets magic item identification. If any one of them does not, then nobody gets magic item identification. What's the vote?

Re: Loot and Treasure 2
Abi is an NPC at this point but if the other two agree she would jump in as well for the same of the group.
Re: Loot and Treasure 2
It's almost like we don't believe the word of a being that registers as strongly evil. Crazy thing!
And again: that should be "Definitely not swearing to go on quest" for Ulf, Galen, and most likely Bertram.
If Abi's an NPC, that simplifies loot distribution a bit. Who's left to agree to the split? Seadu and Mokatah?
