Character Sheets

#1 Post by Keehnelf »

This thread is only for posting PC sheets--use the OOC thread for discussion of character generation.

Rules for PCs:

4d6c1 for stats, arranged as you like. Do not use the character sheet for this--make a macro in the dice roller and link that with the campaign ID (257). One set of rolls only--if they come out really poorly, link them anyway in the OOC thread and we can discuss.

-Take maximum hit points for first level and then roll (link the roll to me) for each level thereafter. 1s count.

-All classes in the OSRIC core rules are allowed, including multi-class options, but dwarf is the only race available. Even though this is true, don't treat the attributes as normalized--you will be dealing with a lot of non-dwarves, so use the +1 Con, -1 Charisma modifiers.

All characters will begin with 20,000xp, which offers the following levels for single-classed characters:

Assassin 5 (halfway to 6)
Cleric 5 (halfway to 6)
Druid 6
Fighter 5 (halfway to 6)
Illusionist 5
Magic User 4 (nearly 5)
Paladin 4 (halfway to 5)
Ranger 5
Thief 6

The only multi-class option allowed will be Fighter/Thief, in which case you will get 10k per class, for Fighter 4/Thief 5.

Increasing in level happens automatically as soon as sufficient XP are earned. HP rolled or added at a new level are immediately gained, but no other healing happens. New spells per day are gained the next time the player rests and meditates or otherwise would regain/reset their spells.

Training is not required to increase in level.

---

Magic Users of the Firedeep Clan are known as Rune Casters or Rune Seers, and operate in the following ways:

1. They are not restricted in what kinds of armor they may wear while using magic, and their selection of allowed weapons is identical to the Cleric list rather than the Magic User one.
2. The targets of their spells gain a +2 bonus to any saving throw, if one is allowed.
3. No spells of the Evocation type may ever be learned.
4. They may not cast spells from scrolls, or learn spells from scrolls.
5. The spells per day formula is the same as for other magic users, but no spells need be memorized in advance. Instead, the caster must have the proper Rune Stone (a 2-pound stone or metal sigil inscribed with the appropriate rune-words) on hand to cast the spell and must understand how to unlock and direct the magical energies contained within (i.e. "know" the rune or spell)
6. Each time the Rune Caster levels up, he or she may elect to automatically learn one new Rune that may be of any level the Rune Caster can employ. The creation of the physical rune stone requires eight hours of labor per level of the spell, and may be performed in the wild as long as the materials needed are at hand (stone slab and chisel, or the equivalent).
7. Starting Rune Casters (level 4) begin with the following (selected in order): three allowable first-level spells, chosen randomly. Then two allowable first level spells, picked by the player. One allowable second level spell, chosen randomly. Finally, two second level spells picked by the player.
8. The only way for a rune caster to gain new spells in the course of play during this adventure is to increase in level.
9. A Rune Caster must be Lawful.

A bit more information will be provided about this modified class this week in the adventure background thread.

---

It is highly unlikely that new PCs will be added to replace those who die or are lost over the course of the adventure.

---

Do not roll for money. You will get one suit of wearable armor, helmet and shield if you can use them, your choice of two standard weapons including 20 rounds of ammunition if applicable (or 4 of a throwing-type weapon).

All standard gear will be provided, but no vehicles or animals. Take your pick from what there is. You may additionally select one masterwork weapon (+1 to hit, in the case of a weapon with ammunition, it is the ammunition with the bonus and not the weapon) and one +1 magical item (can be a second weapon, or a piece of armor). At the start of the game, I will also provide a cache of sundry magical items that it will be the party's responsibility to divvy up before departing.

---

Be sure to include information in your background about why your character is involved in this trip--how did he or she get pushed or inspired to take on what is, from an outside perspective, an obvious suicide mission of potentially questionable value to dwarven society as a whole?
