Sylvan quickly backs out of the room and slides his spear through the handle to secure it before quickly crossing the pit trap room and returns to the rest of the party in the western passage.

"There's some sort of mechanical humanoid guardian through the other door. Looks like it's guarding a key." he says. "I like our chances with the slime better than that thing at half-strength."

"Then let us return to the surface for rest and supplies and come back more able to deal with the thing," Ciar says.

"Yes, let's" replies Sylvan. He seems to take a little extra time gathering his possessions, and his face is grim. When everyone is ready, he follows the group out.

The group retraces their steps and navigates the long passage west, then north through the door which turns east and leads everyone back to the slime infested passage. The rope which parted the slime long since extinguished, the slime has settled back into place and, once again, spans the entire width of the passage leading towards the ledge.

Fulp still has the second half of the rope originally used to burn the slime apart and, assuming he's willing, will be able to repeat the process a second time, leaving the group stuck facing the narrow ledge again, and without the benefit of the rope support until someone is able to successfully cross and re-establish the hold on the destination side.

If Fulp doesn't want to use the half rope for whatever reason, we can back the group up to behind the slime and figure out another course of action. Assuming Fulp agrees, I will need to know the order in which the players will attempt to cross the narrow ledge.

Ciar passes one end of a length of silken rope that suddenly appeared in his hands over to Fulp and says, "Here. I musta forgot I had this in my pack, it being so light and all..." He fastens the other end around his waist and volunteers to cross the ledge first.

Ciar, whom had struggled to cross the ledge the first two times he attempted it, manages to cross it with ease this time. Once on the target side, he is able to secure it in place around the corner and provide the remaining party members a bit of extra security for their attempts.

I will still need rolls for each characterin order to cross.

About half way across, Sylvan begins to lose his footing, but is able to stabilize himself with the security rope in place and manages to cross successfully.

Fulp likewise will attempt the crossing, hoping not to step or swim into the green goo.

"I'm going next," Festus states matter-of-factly once it is just he and Sparrow left on the wrong side of the ledge. The dwarf takes his time and, exercising a level of caution previously not displayed, successfully joins the others on the targeted side.

Last to cross the ledge is Sparrow. Perhaps looking to prove to Festus that his level of caution was unnecessary, Sparrow attempts to cross the ledge at a more aggressive pace. His first few steps are made without issue, but before even making it half way across the ledge, the dark-skinned human loses his footing and plunges approximately 5' into the pit below!

While seemingly unharmed by the fall, cushioned by the mass accumulation of slime below; the green, gooey substance begins to ruthlessly stick to Sparrow, whose efforts to rise to his feet only make it worse.

"We need to throw him the rope!" cries Sylvan. Assuming Ciar pulls in the rope, Sylvan will tie a knot at the end to weigh it down and exhort Ciar to throw it to Sparrow.

Fulp explains,

I fear it best if we tie a loop around the rope, and have one the steady walkers walk the loop end of the rope out toward him. That way, all he has to do is stick an arm through the hole, and not have to grab the rope itself.

In light of that clarification...

Fulp pulls the rope toward them, hoping to fish Sparrow out in time.

Sylvan will examine the wall near the ledge as the others fish out Sparrow. He'll be looking to see if pitons can be driven in to the wall to secure and fix a rope to avoid the treacherous crossing.

"Someone get a torch ready! Everyone else, pull," Ciar says after Sparrow falls in. He backs down the hallway, pulling on the other end of the rope, to give people space to maneuver.

As soon as Sparrow is pulled free from the green stuff, (or even before, if Fulp notices that the others' strength is sufficient to pull him, freeing himself from the duty),

Fulp will reach into his backpack and pull out a torch, thinking it will be more effective than the candle he spies the gnome lighting.

Also, Fulp will be careful to pull the rope by holding the same "Dry" section and moving away from the green stuff, rather than walking his hands forward into the slimy section as they pull. I assume others would do the same.

"It's starting to burn!" Sparrow cries as the party above the pit begins to formulate a plan and execute a resuce mission. Already secured to a rope, the topside group begins to pull, and with much effort, begins to make progress in pulling their trapped companion towards them. Dragging Sparrow through the sludge is no easy task, and he can be dragged only about five feet per minute. After only a few minutes, the pull becomes that much more difficult as Sparrow suddenly ceases to help in his own rescue effort. "Hurry! Everyone, hurry!" Festus yells as he notices his trapped companion appear to fall unconscious. It takes another two minutes, but Sparrow is finally pulled to the edge nearest the group, but is still five feet down and coated in the green material. "Ahh, get ready to burn that crap off me, too!" Festus growls as he crouches low and begins to reach down into the pit and grabs Sparrow in order to pull him up. "Keep pulling!" he barks.

After Festus manages to pull Sparrow to the surface, Kassal rushes over to Festus with his candle and slowly waves it over the dwarf's hands, buring the goo away before too much damage can be done. At the same time, Fulp hurries to Sparrow's side and quickly lights a torch. Careful to not cause any additional damage to his unconscious companion, Fulpcarefully burns away the green slime which covers most of the dark-skinned human's body and possessions. Clearing Sparrow takes considerably more time, but Fulp is successful in driving all but a few residual sections away.

Sparrow appears lifeless to anyone that checks his condition, but a very faint pulse is detected after a closer inspection offering some hope.
