"Sparrow, my friend, I will only do so if there 's a very good reason. I maintain that I took your leave last night for a very good reason" replies Sylvan.

The fleeting sun jars Sylvan's memory. "Anyone else want to speak with Silas about escorting his caravan?" he asks producing the caravan notice he procured from the 'Rusty Dragon.'

Sparrow and Kassal agree, and Fulp, who had intentions of exploring the city to look out for any lingering goblins, agrees to join as well after remembering the delicious, exotic food Ameiko serves.

As they exit the cathedral, they almost literally bump into Ciar who is just returning from his side venture.


Ciara and Festus can accompany the rest or set off on their own (together or individually). Your call, gentleman.

I will hold off on updating further until later tonight or early tomorrow, allowing Ethan and Gary a chance to update their characters intentions.

"So you're still interested in being some kind of bodyguard, huh? Well... I'll go with ya to hear what he has to say, but I'm not totally sold on the idea,"Ciar says when he hears the plan to speak with Silas.

"Six hundred gold ain't nothin' to sneeze at," Festus says, his eyes twinkling when thinking about the coin. "And a few beers and a bite to eat wouldn't be bad either."
Festus goes along to ask about the caravan duty, and then hopefully to Ameiko's.

Fulps adds,
And with today's activities, maybe the price for body-guarding doubled. And, I too, am hungry.

"Oh, almost forgot..." Ciar suddenly remembers, "I stopped by the Rusty Dragon earlier to check on them because it was close to Goblin Stables and Ameiko said to tell everyone that she would give us rooms for free for a few days for helping out with the goblins. Something to keep in mind, should anyone decide to stay."

Everyone agrees to learn more about the caravan escort opportunity and begin to make their way towards the 'Rusty Dragon' (#37). There, the plan is to meet with someone named Silas Gribb, whose name isn't familiar to those locals asked. The streets are eeriely empty as the group makes their way across town, and the coversation is more subdued than normal. At one point, Ciar mentions having just come from the inn and shares with the rest his news of the free rooms, compliments of Ameiko, which helps pass the distance.


The group arrives shortly before sundown and enter the practically empty inn. They are greeted by a weary-looking Ameiko; clearly worn from the day's events. The party's arrival draws awed looks from the three other local patrons that occupy the main room, and brings a weak smile to Ameiko's face as she welcomes everyone to sit. "Nice to see you back so soon," she says to Ciar. "Thank you all for your efforts earlier today," she starts. "You may not realize it yet, as most people have secured themselves in their homes, but you're local heroes now."

"Hopefully your friend here," she says, nodding at the halfling, "shared my offer to the rest of you. Rooms, with my compliments. And a meal for tonight." she says, allowing a slight smile to form as she spots Festus and chuckles lightly.

"Please, let me set you up with our house specialties." she says, making her way to the kitchen to instuct her chef of the order details.


Moments after Ameiko steps away, the front doors open and in walks another customer. A male.

Ameiko, on the other side of the room, greets the man with a wave. The man walks to the bar area and immediately looks to the stack of notices; a smile crosses his face after realizing a particular notice has been torn away. He takes a seat at the bar and nonchalantly scans the rest of the main room.



Actions?

Fulp whispers,
I bet that is the guy we're looking for. One of you with a silver tongue should talk to him.

Sparrow chuckles at Fulps words.

That'd be Sylvan........that's what the girls last night said anyways.

Festus raises an eyebrow and grunts at Ameiko's comment and glance, but is not about to shy away from a free meal.

When the man walks in, Festus watches him and then at Fulp's suggestion, he stands and walks over to where the man sits.
"Evening sir. Might yer name be Silas Gribb? If'n so, would ya like to join our table? We be ready to have some supper and we be wantin' ta talk to ya about yer caravan offer."

The man watches Festus as he approaches, and can't completely mask a dour look that crosses his face when the dwarf stops in front of him. "I be Silas." he says matter-of-factly. "And, yes, I suppose we should join the others."

Festus and the man, now positively identified as being Silas, return to the table and take seats alongside the others. The man joining you at the table is a human of average height and carrying a bit too much weight. He is a man of good taste and he is adorned in the fine clothing of a man with money. "You have my posting, I take it?" he asks as his gaze moves from one character to the next. "I have to admit," he starts. "I was looking for professionals. Mercenaries. I am on a very tight schedule, which may move up from the two days I originally quoted."

"Will that be a problem?"

"There's more to us than meets the eye, Silas" replies Sylvan with a smile, extending his hand to Silas. "We complement each other well. Ask any citizen who was out this terrible day, I'm sure they'll vouch for our abilities."

Silas doesn't immediately accept Sylvan's extended hand, but does so reluctantly after a pause. "Listen," he starts. "I'm sure you're quite capable defending yourselves against some lowly goblins..."

He takes a deep breath and considers his next words carefully. "Look, no offense, but you're just not what I was expecting, or hoping for. Still, I guess you appear to be my only options."

"I still have urgent business to attend to this evening, but if you're still interested, meet me back here after breakfast tomorrow."

He rises to his feet and plops a small sack down on the table. "Enjoy your meal," he says. "On me."

He turns and exits the inn in a huff.

This guy, apparently, is in a pretty foul mood.

Kassal eyes the bag of coin eagerly, being penniless. "So the human is a grouse. Who cares, he pays well. I have a hunch he is expecting trouble on this journey, it's almost as if he knows what will attack him. We could do with that information ourselves if we are to adequately protect his possessions. I wonder what he is transporting?"

[OGRE MAGE]

Sparrow shakes his head as the man exits the tavern.

Nothing good I assure you! That guy is a bit surly to be of good intentions. We should try and get more info from him tomorrow. Perhaps he will be in a better mood then? It might not hurt to keep asking around about him today either.

Fulp watches the reactions of the other patrons, looking for any that show a noticeable like or disdain for Silas, especially as he turns to leave.
He then grins and says, Some silver tongue you have there. he laughs at Sylvan.
I cant imagine how you ended up getting a lady to give you more attention than ol Silas did.

[Storm11]

Its probably too late now but it might have been a good idea if someone shadowed him and checked out where he was going and what he's up to." says the gnome adjusting his blue robes and looking out for free dinner.

"I would like a free room if it's all the same to you lass" he calls to the proprietor. "Are we splitting this coin or what?"

Sylvan face reddens slightly at Fulp's jab, but he forces a smile. "I suppose I expended all of my charm last night. Speaking of which..." he trails off. He gets up from the table to go have a few words with Ameiko.
