Question: did Orrin take 7 damage from the spear and was knocked out...or did he just get knocked out and is at positive HP? I realized looking at it that I don't know where he stands, and that would be something worth knowing if we get in another scrap. He wouldnt be recovering anything anyway because of all the wood gathering he's doing.

Lug wakes up and stretches his injured arm. "That was fun!" he exclaims. "Did we get 'em? Wow, that was one tough goblin. Ain't never seen one that could keep fighting after I made him see Reason."

Thats what I thought, I just can't figure out if he gained one point back or not since waking up from the knockout. I don't think he's had the full day rest. Is he at 1 or still at zero?

Naila goes to look in on the injured. "Thanks for blocking that spear, Orrin. I'd be dead if it wasn't for you."

Orrin blushes a little and kicks the ground with a toe.

"Just doing what any good dwarf would do. You're most welcome."

Lug looks around and sees the sled Orrin built. "Whazzat for?" he asks.

"We ready to go back to town now and find us a preacher?"

April 16, 1 VC - 8:00am

The day passes slowly, with much of the team more of less immobilized. Orrin, despite his very rough condition, works all through the morning to gather materials for a sled to carry Lug, and by the time is starts to rain near mid-day only construction remains.

As Orrin fastens the pieces together with bits of leather and cloth from the fallen goblins' gear, the rainfall intensifies, and by mid-afternoon it is coming down in sheets. The group is thankful for the shelter of overhanging roots, but then surprised after a few hours by a sudden outbreak of yelping and howling from the tunnel entrance. By the time the party has had the chance to mobilize and consider whether to explore or prepare to defend itself, the sound has stopped, and the muffled sound of the falling rain once again is the only one to be heard.

The rain slows Orrin's progress, but he is able to complete the sled just after dark, and the party camps once again, waking in the morning to the same gloomy rainfall.

Lug recovers 3 HP, and Rhodri and Numen each recover 2. Please deduct one day's rations apiece.

He did an awful lot of building for someone at 0 HP.

Orrin's a tough little bastard.

0 means unconscious when you go down to it, then up to 6 hours later you regain consciousness at 0, and from that point it's regular D&D--full function until dead or dying.

The difference between 0 and 1 being, if you take damage you are immediately dying, with no chance to simply be knocked out.

Orrin takes extra care not to trip over any exposed roots, nor to burn himself on the campfire, nor to scratch himself too vigorously. He feels a little... delicate.

"Now that we are all up and around, what say we get outta here? Let's head back to Vaul, rest up, find a cleric, and try this again."

"Let's bring the goblin's head. The Archduck might give us something for it."

[Zorroroaster]

"Ok, but hurry up and be quack about it."

[Zhym]

Laughing heartily at Orrin's joke, Lug lops off the tall goblin's head and ties it to his belt by the hair. "Do I have time for another wolf skin? This one is quite the trophy!"

Wasn't there also something about a pouch of hair? Lug could add to his hair collection!

By this point Rhodri has had sufficient time to study his spells (Sleep) and examine the treasure the party found while he was unconscious. He seems oddly depressed about their good fortune, even for him.

"Aye, best we get back to Vaul. We'll try raiding the Finger another day. If we can find a god-shouter who is willing to work with us, it would likely make our task a lot easier." His voice is distracted, as if he has a weightier problem on his mind. When he hears Lug's request, he says, "I'd rather you didn't; in the time it takes, more wolves could show up and put a few more people at death's door. Then we need to wait for them heal, and this whole process starts again. We've got gold and gems, and that's better than wolfskins any day."

Ready to head back south when everyone else is.

"Don't forget Lug, we also have these fine furs we found in the burrow. Anyone else think thst beard hair belongs to one of my kinfolk? I've been thinking about it since we encountered those goblins. Makes me wonder. "
