7. There Has to Be a Morning After
Re: 7. There Has to Be a Morning After
The merchant's cheerful demeanor cools only slightly. "Sorry, lad—though I guess you're probably older than me, ain't ya? Anyway, 20 platinum is the price. I admit that the markup is steep, but this stuff isn't cheap for me to get."
Something occurs to him. "You said two platinum for the iron rations—so you'll only be wanting two days worth, then?"

Re: 7. There Has to Be a Morning After
The gnomes eyes widen.
"Well if that's your final offer I guess we are done here. Never mind sir. Good day. "
Castran will put his platinum pieces away and exit the mercantile unless Bildrath stops him.
The gnome will wander the village looking for a suitably empty house that looks like it could be defended.
If the dwarf is with him he will encourage Bragar, once the pair get inside, to put a glyph of warding just inside the front doorway. He will also encourage the dwarf to heal the pairs wounds.
Then settle down to rest and recover his magic for the night to come.
Castran for his part will put his alarm stones at the entrance and settle in as well, getting as much rest as is possible

Bragar- Begin His prayer for healing his friend Castran. Haela Brightaxe mighty goddess of battle. Destroyer of evil. Grant your mighty follower Bragar BattleHammer the power to heal the wounded who fight the evil as you.

"Thank you kindly Bragar" says the gnome as most of his wounds heal. "Come let us find a secure place that doesn't cost a kings ransom to stay the night in and make preparations for the inevitable."
i thought it was great until I saw it was a serious wounds one. Poor yoos.

Bragar meets up with Castran just outside the shop. Not keen on spending a small fortune for a place to sleep each night, you begin scouting out the houses for one that looks unoccupied but defensible.
It's not an easy task. You can tell from their markings that a few of the buildings, especially near the town square, once held shops that are now looted and ruined. Many of the houses are empty but inhospitable. Burned-out roofs, windows without shutters, and doors with empty and broken hinges stand open to the elements—and attackers. Other houses might be occupied, or they might not. You can't tell just by looking at them.
It begins to grow dim. You realize you have perhaps an hour before dark.

Re: 7. There Has to Be a Morning After
Castran will suggest heading for Ismarks house or one of the abandoned shops that has a roof and a door.

Re: 7. There Has to Be a Morning After
The doors of looted shops seldom survive the looting. An abandoned shop would keep you out of the elements but not protect you against attackers.
Re: 7. There Has to Be a Morning After
All the shops all have no doors at all on?

Re: 7. There Has to Be a Morning After
There aren't that many shops in town to begin with. Those that are looted have had their doors broken down.
Re: 7. There Has to Be a Morning After
So the gnome will head to Ismarks house and hope Bragar will accompany him.
When he gets there he will knock upon the door and introduce himself to the Young man, and tell his tale of what occurred within the Vampyrs castle.

Unable to discern which houses are abandoned, you head south on the road to Ismark's home—the former Burgomaster's mansion.
You pass through the creaking gate and arrive at the front door. For a long, quiet moment, there is no answer to your knock. Eventually you hear Ismark's voice on the other side of the door. "Who is it?" he challenges. You respond, and after another long moment he opens the door just enough to peek through.
"You are not who I expected to see," he says. "But I remember you. You came through town a few weeks ago. What do you want?"

Re: 7. There Has to Be a Morning After
"Greetings Ismark, I am Castran Starjewel, and this is my holy friend Bragar, we come to discuss your sister and what happened at the castle. I think you will want to hear this," he says nodding. "We mean you no harm, I can even enter your home without invitation, unlike the foul undead that dwells above us. Let us enter and discuss this before true night falls. I would like your help in devising a plan to rescue your kin."

"We were rescued ourselves by the company that escorted Ireena into the castle. We are all that is left of the expedition. Night will soon fall and Strahd will be at large. We have magic that could help wars him off. Please let us in and we can help each other. In the morning if we survive the dark we can hopefully devise a plan to recruit more of our kind and mount a reacue of our brethren and your sister." Castran waits for the humans response in earnest.
