Part 4: Second Attempt to Plumb the Barrowmaze
Part 4: Second Attempt to Plumb the Barrowmaze
Discouraged by the random attacks on their encampment, the group returns to the surface and moves out into the woods surrounding the barrow field in order to rest and recuperate from their ordeal in the tombs. The remainder of the night passes by with only the sounds of the forest to disturb you. It is well past the rising of the sun before all are able to wake, such was the drain on limb and spirits the night before. With everyone rested and recuperated, spells researched and granted, you are able to once again face the perils of the Barrowmaze.

Re: Part 4: Second Attempt to Plumb the Barrowmaze
Marcus, awaking early tosses water onto his face and gathers his gear. He looks around the swamp and gathers some frogs and herbs. After preparing a hearty meal of seasoned, grilled frog legs and watercress he calls out to the others. "GET UP!" Sitting around the early morning fire he shares idle talk with the others as they all fill their bellies with a morning meal.

No there is no need to roll for that.
Need everyone to decide on the next course of action, return to the maze or explore more barrows.

Re: Part 4: Second Attempt to Plumb the Barrowmaze
Standing up after a good breakfast, Marcus stretches out his legs. "Well, I am all for going back down. Whatever is in the maze is guarding something of worth. I can feel it my bones. And I would like to get at it!"
Re: Part 4: Second Attempt to Plumb the Barrowmaze
Rolling up his blanket and slipping it through the straps of his backpack, Dren takes a pull on his water skin before replying. "Dren will lead the way, when you are ready to follow".

"Lead on Dren...lead on." Marcus, puts out the camp fire and follows the little Halfling back toward the maze.

Erinar wakes and has a frog leg, prepares his gear, and follows Dren.

Unrolling the map he has been sketching, Dren runs through the yet unexplored areas.

"Nice map making little fellow"Marcus looks over Dren's shoulder and notices the unfolded map. "So, you want to head to the room on the left. Count me in. Let's go..."

There is a chill air coming off the moor as you hike back to the large barrow and steel yourselves to enter the maze again. Climbing down the rope, you gather your things together and move off into the hallway, immediately turning left to head down the unexplored hall. Probing along and looking for traps, Dren finds a loose flagstone just in front of the closed door.
Re: Part 4: Second Attempt to Plumb the Barrowmaze
Warning the others to take care, Dren investigates the lose stone, ready to spring away from any falling blocks or pit traps.

Investigating the stone, you quickly realize it is a pressure stone activating only when significant enough pressure is place on it.

Re: Part 4: Second Attempt to Plumb the Barrowmaze
Marcus listens to what Dren tells the party. "Wait there Dren. I have an idea." Turning from the party he heads up the rope and into he swamp once again. Looking around and finding a large log, Marcus than drags it back into the maze. When reaching Dren, Marcus moves the little guy off to the side and tosses the log onto the pressure plate. "This should do it!"
Re: Part 4: Second Attempt to Plumb the Barrowmaze
Dren dodges away from the pressure plate, running back to the junction, familiar with traps that drop a portcullis or a stone block on unsuspecting bystanders further down the corridor.

Pyrrhic draws his spear, ready for any more undead that might throw themselves at his friends.
Re: Part 4: Second Attempt to Plumb the Barrowmaze
Marcus tosses the log in front of the door which lands firmly on the stone, pressing it down... but nothing happens.
