Re: Act 2: Death Fanjyr Way Station
Please keep in mind with all of this retreat talk........you already have some party members in the middle of the fight that might be depending on you all NOT running away? Just sayin.
Xano draws her sword as the Gnoll advances. She hits it hard but the blow strikes the things makeshift armor and does no damage. It barks something at her and slashes at her with its big axe. Just then, the floating hobbit carried by the invisible wizard appears and plunks it with 2 arrows. It falls to the ground but the Ogre behind it quickly takes its place. Wyntar drops Trotter next to Xano and moves up higher to begin casting more spells.
Halo and Thomas take on the first 2 Bugbears from the tower that advance to just inside the gates. Both of their attacks are turned back by the creatures large morning stars. The bugbears retaliate with attacks but are equally unsuccessful. Another Bugbear appears through the door and heads towards the action. With it comes a very stinky Troll.
Drez is again spot on with his crossbow and kills another Gnoll that he sees through the upper window.
The Monk sees the upper half of something large moving across the top of the wall towards Xano. He shoots at the things head with his magic crossbow and the bolt finds its mark. 14 dam It sinks deep into the ogres huge neck and it lets out a loud bellow as it continues to advance.
Wyntar can clearly see Morgi in eagle form now as he continues to fly around through the buildings up ahead. He sees some rubble fly through the air at the Druids form but it misses the bird badly.
Chewy freaks out a little when he sees the Gnolls and the Ogre on top of the wall. He begins to back away from the wall and starts to head back down the pass, away from the battle.
The group of Bugbears that are running towards you will be bunched up nicely in front of the entryway this round with some of them advancing up the steps to the top of the wall.
No loss of hit points.......yet.
Actions for round 3!

Never retreat, never surrender! yells the diminutive ranger. This stronghold is in our path, we must defeat them to continue on!
Are there boulders nearby on this wall?

Drez the dwarf just sighs, reloads and continues to fire at the enemy archers. Light Crossbow of Accuracy +3 [1d20 +3] = 10+3 = 13 Hit [1d4 +3] = 3+3 = 6

No, not on the wall. There is loose rock that has fallen from above on the pass in some places though.greyarea wrote:Trotter

The monk will position himself where he is not in danger of being attacked by a bugbear but still has a clear shot at the ogre on top of the wall.

Wyntar can see all the chaos ensuing from his vantage point. The Bugbears will be on his friends within seconds, he must work swiftly. He yells down to Halo and Thomas, Backup as much as you can!!! Wyntar points his Staff on the advancing Bugbears and creates a curtain of fire over the top of them.

Xano- Continues to attack the Gnoll. Thanks Trot. Looks like a may have gotten myself in a bad spot. Is that a frost giant there coming at us?

Thomas plants his feet, the surrounding fire from Wyntar that attempts to burn the bugbears advancing on them only seems to strengthen the cleric, he swings with devastating strength as he prays another battle prayer aloud, "We are the shield against evil, We are the weapon that pierces the night, We are the strength needed to overcome strife, We are the resolve needed to never surrender the fight! We are the light, burning away the darkness!!"
Heavy Mace To Hit: [1d20+3] = 20+3 = 23, Damage: [1d6+8] = 6+8 = 14, Holy DMG vs. Evil: [2d6] = 8
as for my nat 20... I think I can be happy with 22 points of damage instead of max. Go ahead and roll your mysterious crit sheet Ogre! I am interested in what may happen.

Damn, this group ain't screwing around on posting times.
I will update this evening. Wyntar may have just saved the group from almost certain death. Depending on the spells timing of course.

I'm trying to post more than 1-2 times a day. I really was going to cut and run but they want to fight on so the lowly thief is still here.

Re: Act 2: Death Fanjyr Way Station
Party on the Pass
Round 3
The monsters sense that their new found home may be in jeopardy and attack first.
The 2 bugbears attacking Thomas and Halo try to smash into them during their attack, trying to push them out of the tunnel. The attacks both fail but the extra motion leaves their head and neck area quite vulnerable. The clergy are pushed back slightly but take full advantage in their counterattacks.
Xano moves forward to attack the OGRE coming at her. The big brute smashes her in the side with a huge spiked club. 6 dam
Two more arrows fly from the tower at the group. One gets stuck in the folds of Drez's armor, the other hits the Monk in the leg. 4 dam A very loud bell begins to toll over and over, coming from the upper tower.
The first bugbear gets to the top of the stairs just in time to get hit with one of Trotter's arrows. 6 dam (+7 bonus is on melee attacks only) There are 3 more coming up the steps right behind that one. The rest of the Bugbears seem to be trying to get into the gate tunnel but one very large beast stands away about 100' shouting what seem like orders to the others.
Drez fires again just as the Gnoll with the bolt stuck in its forehead gets back to the window. This bolt tears through the things throat this time and it falls to the floor dead.
The Monk quickly reloads his light crossbow, moves back, and fires at the monster on the wall. The bolt finds its mark again, and the brute bellows out once again.
The noise doesn't last long though, as Xano runs the beast through with her flaming longsword. It drops to the stone with a thud, quite dead.
Meanwhile, the frontline clergy recognize the tactics of these dumb creatures right away and it shows in there attacks. Halo completely decapitates his opponent with one heavy swing. It falls to the ground only to be replaced quickly by the nasty Troll, who leans down and bites the little Paladin hard in the shoulder. 7 dam
Thomas also swings hard at his unbalanced bugbear and his heavy mace hits home. The creatures skull is completely crushed in and it's eyeballs go flying out of its head. The sight is so shocking that the bugbear behind this one who was about to attack Thomas, just stands there for a second in disbelief.
Chewy continues to back out of the area.
Suddenly, Wyntar appears again, flying in the sky above the wall with his staff pointed at the group of bugbears. A massive block shaped curtain of violet colored fire instantly appears against the court side of the wall. Thomas and Halo can feel the heat of the blast and see the flames through the tunnel but luckily, are just outside of the danger area. All of the bugbears in that area instantly burst into flames and begin to run around wildly, trying to extinguish their burning, furry hides. The smell is horrendous but the sight of it is fairly comical.
Morgi is seen flying away from the second burned building just as the tower bell begins to ring. The large creatures began to stir when they heard the Ogre yell. Now some of them emerge from their party to see what's going on at the gates. Morgi, I need to know about where you want to land and change/cast. Just an approximation somewhere on the map is fine.
There are currently 4 Bugbears attacking Xano and Trotter on the wall. There are 3 Bugbears and a Troll still in the tunnel fighting Halo and Thomas. Two of those bugbears are now on fire. The big bugbear stays put for now. The other group of monsters further away can now be seen stirring and some are starting to advance in your direction.

Re: Act 2: Death Fanjyr Way Station
Seeing the troll take a bite out of one of his companions, the monk springs into action. He will draw his spetum and run up behind Halo. The weapon's reach allows him to attack the troll from behind the paladin:
After landing his blow, he will use his boots to spring out of action, 9' straight back and out of range of the troll.

Trotter
Trotter switches from his bow to his Sword of Sharpness, attacking the bugger closest.
Sword of Sharpness to hit [1d20+4] = 1+4 = 5, dmg v l [1d8+15] = 7+15 = 22
Would be awesome if I could hit.
Thanks for the rule clarification.

Drez takes the time to sneak over to the tower in attempt to make it up in through the door to try and hide in the shadows and sneak up behind one of the gnolls in this and the next round. if that is how long it would take. The dwarf takes out his short sword upon entering the tower to try and backstab an unaware enemy or two.
