Chapter 5: The Fabricator of Planes

The group emerges from the moutain's depths and snake-like tunnels, finding themselves temporarily blinded by the light in the sky, still in the same position as it has always been. Looking around camp, they notice that it has already been picked clean by the townsfolk and militia. The tents and firepit are still up, but other than that, everything seems pretty bare. The group is met by three guards posted near the mountain entrance, one of which you recognize as Lump. He rushes towards the Captain and gawks at the battle-worn group, his eyes widening as he looks over their shoulders.

"What did ya guys fight down there?! The ground was shakin' so much and- and what's dis thing doin' here?" Lump points towards Elithil the brawny elf as he says this. "Captain?"

I'm going to assume that Sunshine would be hiding behind the group in the shadows, scoping out the current situation with weapon drawn, unseen.

Actions?

"Doing my best to keep your Captain alive," replies Elethil with a level look at Lump.

Lump responds more cordially towards Whitsell, having fought with along his side in battle already. "Sorry, we din't see nothin while keepin guard." One of the guards accompanying Lump reinforces this with a statement of his own. "The camp is pretty empty now, but the whole place was shakin mighty strong a few moments ago! We've never heard or felt anything like that before, no sir!"

Whitsell looks around,
Alright folks, we need to regroup and figure this out. Who did we lose. Who saw what. Where is everyone? and what do we need to do with that thing in there if he comes after us?

"We finished off the remnants of the bandit operation," says Deceidon to Lump and the guards. "Thank you again Lump for your good work in helping rid this land of such predators. To think the first time we encountered you, you were one of them!" He slaps Lump on the back in a friendly manner.

Then Deceidon turns more serious. "We came across some caves and an ancient temple down there. Dark magicks. We freed a prisoner who betrayed us. He is a duplicitious bastard who stole from us." Deceidon gives a description of Rand. "Be on the look-out for this craven thief."

"Besides Elethil here," continues Deceidon, "we have another companion named Sunshine. He is of the fey race as well. He is shy around humans and is likely in the woods. Welcome him should you see him." Deceidon describes the elf to prevent any confusion.

Sunshine the elf, mistrustful of these new human strangers, hangs back in the shadows. He keeps one eye open for Rand.

Taking over Sunshine instead of Flynn now, per DM.

Flynn intentionally looks at Deceidon with a curious glance. The swashbuckler realizes that some information was left out, was this for the better he ask himself? Pulling Amberlynn closer to him, he says out loud to everyone present. "That thief seemed genuine in his craft. If I were him, I'd want to find some civilization and sink my teeth into its riches. The town is the only place here that I would suspect to find that cretin. I myself am tired and I think we should all head back there.... quickly."

Flynn hooks his arm around Amberlynn and pecks her cheek with a kiss. "My sweet, t'would be best if you joined our friend Lump here and the guards on the way back to town. Wait for me for I have something to take care of here. I won't be long, promise!"

Captain Hal nods at this suggestion, giving Lump and the guards their orders to relay back to town. They have been tasked with a thief hunt and escort of the lovely Amberlynn. They depart, if nothing else is said to them, into the tunnel.

With Lump and the milita out of earshot, Captain Hal speaks to the group in a hurried voice, looking into the moutain entrance every now and then. "That demon we eluded will be coming for us, how soon I don't know, but I'd prefer to be prepared for that encounter than be caught off guard and let it reach town. The bandits used those towers near the fighting pit earlier for their archers. We might be able to use that to our advantage. Can we set up any traps as well?" Hal makes sweeping motions with this arms as he points out all of the strategic points of the camp, mostly the towers and tents.

Whitsell agrees.
I would rather see what some long range attacks do to him before finding out we are no match strengthwise during close combat.

"Maybe it will just stay in the caves," Deceidon says as he surveys the area. "Perhaps it doesn't enjoy the light of day."

Deceidon ponders fighting tactics should the hell-spawn appear. "Do we have any nets we could drop on it from above the entrance? Any catapaults in the fort, or those big crossbows? We could lay oil beyond the entrance and engulf it in flames as it emerges."

"Maybe it will just stay in the caves," Deceidon says as he surveys the area. "Perhaps it doesn't enjoy the light of day."

Flynn's eyes widen as Deceidon mentions engulfing it in flames. "Now I know I don't have experience in fighting hellspawn, but its... well, don't they usually live in flames? How do you know it will work?" The swashbuckler surveys the mountain entrance and nods as he comes to a quick conclusion.

"The supports there, see? They are weak now and barely holding up, the fissures already forming in certain areas. We are lucky it didn't come down on us, but the demon may not be so lucky, if you catch my drift." Flynn balls his fists up and puts them to his sides as he contemplates using his bow. "I suppose the fire and oil thing might work, don't want to knock out any ideas if it can save our hides you know."

if your not directly under it, but to the side of a support, then it might be successful

Elethil will move to the side of a support and throw his body against it to hasten its collapse.

I would say so, or at least to damage it in the rubble???

guys, do we know the way out of this world? it isnt through the mountain, is it? do we need to look for another method to dispose of this demon?
