The two villains fire their weapons, the first vaporizing the table and the second firing at the figure of Threshold that appears from behind it, leaping forward while hurling a pair of psionic knives at the one in front.

Disruptor Attack vs. Threshold [2d6+3] = 6+3 = 9

The knife strikes the uniformed attacker, and he immediately slumps to the ground unconscious, his weapon falling from his limp hands. (mooks only have one health, so the only requirement is to successfully strike them to remove them from the fight)

Heatseeker, hiding behind the now-vanished table, looks around for something else to use as cover, and spots a counter to the right of the remaining enemy, but he'll have to move through the room where the bad guy is in order to get there.

As the heroes plot out their next step, a booming voice comes from another room, once again with an unusual accent: "You lot! What's going on out there! I told you not to fire those unless you absolutely have to--they're likely to overheat!" It seems to be coming from behind the counters, perhaps back where the vault entrance is, and the source of the smoke.

"One down," Threshold growls, "one to go."

Tossing the knife up and down in his palm, he measures the distance between him and the second gunman, squinting one eye closed in order to best target his next throw. Flipping the knife up one last time, it spins in the air end over end before he snatches it out of the air with a flash of his hand and hurls it, end over end, toward the last gunman in the room.

You can go ahead and make relevant rolls (describing the abilities you're adding in to make the total) along with your declared action--that'll increase speed and facility with the principles involved.

Heatseeker's eyes widen as the table vanishes, but he immediately springs for the counter.

"Overheat, eh?" he repeats to himself. "Well, then--time to draw some fire!"

"Heyheyhey!" he shouts as he runs. "Bet your dumb toy can't hit me!"

The gun barrel flashes and a beam of energy zips past Heatseeker as he cartwheels and leaps across the lobby of the bank, drawing the attacker's fire and attention while Threshold knocks him out with another thrown knife.

Zap Heatseeker [2d6+3] = 8+3 = 11

The civilians begin to chatter excitedly as the second man falls to the ground. Through the confused babble, the duo make out that there are four more similarly-armed men in the back area where the vault entrance is, as well as a much larger and more heavily-armed man who appears to be a robot of some kind.

Threshold eyes each of the fallen men in turn, ensuring that they're not getting up anytime soon. Walking over to their weapons, he kicks them away from the limp bodies and across the room and then gestures to the crowd, stating, "Feel free to pounce on them if either of them moves."

Before the other four (And their leader? he wonders) make their appearance, he turns to Heatseeker and asks, "Think you're ready for another hop?" Peering over the top of the customer service desk, he adds, "It may be the only chance we can really get in there and surprise them."

Heatseeker looks down at the unconscious men--is there any notable insignia on their uniforms or helmets? On the weapons, is there an identifiable place for ammunition or somesuch? He picks one up, thinking how it could come in handy.

Heatseeker nods. "Okay--I think I'm good for another trip," he says, but clearly isn't looking forward to it.

The men's white helmets have a a large yellow W outlined with black stenciled on the left side.

Where a clip would be on a normal automatic rifle, these have oddly rounded canisters attached via obviously retro-fit metal clamps and bolts. They are hot to the touch, and Heatseeker notices that the men are wearing heavily insulated gloves with just the first finger articulated for firing the weapons.

Threshold ignores the weapons and any insignias, and he grumbles impatiently as Heatseeker stoops to inspect the unconcious men. We gotta hurry! he thinks, and then he focuses again, imagining that the customer care counter isn't there at all - that instead a doorway has now opened, connecting their current position to just a few feet away from the second group of men.

Surely enough, as soon as he visualizes it, the very fabric of reality unravels, and a Way opens up, revealing the goons and their leader not too far away. It's difficult to tell what they're doing, mostly because they haven't yet noticed the portal, and Threshold hisses at Heatseeker, "It's open, man. Jump!" Creating two new knives, he nods firmly, adding, "I'm right behind you. I'll get the two on the left. Lay hard and fast into the ones on the right."

Upon hearing Threshold call to him, Heatseeker kicks the weapon he was examining across the room. He backs up a few steps, quickly squares himself with the portal, and takes a running leap, attempting to perform a flying kick on one of the men with their backs turned!
