Dream Battle - Round 9
The barbarian presses his advantage, slashing Tania again this time in the thigh (9 HP damage.) The elf staggers back, activates Phaetor's Ring, and creates illusions of three attackers from behind. The barbarian spins to confront the two elves and halfling. Tania thrusts Repentor at his back and skewers his lower side. The barbarian grunts in pain and staggers, heavily wounded.

Dream Battle - Round 10
Tania the fighter-mage maneuvers for what she hopes is the death blow, but the resilient barbarian is quicker. He brings his great sword sliding sideways, opening a deep gash in the elf! (13 HP damage.)
Tania's own sword thrust is twisted aside; the barbarian turns his hilt guard, catching the elf's sword and disarming her! (From your fumble.) Tania is heavily wounded; another blow will do her in.

Dream Battle - Round 11
Tania the elf rolls back, bleeding from multiple gashes and slices from the barbarian's great sword. Her breathing is heavy, sweat drips down her eyes. Is this still a dream? Can she die? Can he die?
The fighter/mage grabs her bow, nocks an arrow and fires at the oncoming reaver. His sword is raised for the death blow. Tania's arrow flies true at point blank range, burying into his right shoulder. He flies back from the impact, thuds to the ground, unmoving, bloody, sword out of his hand.

Re: Storyverse 69 Subplots: Tania's Tale
wow!!!
one of the toughest battles she has ever faced. She kicks the sword well out of reach of the barbarian. She does whatever she can to incapacitate him and tie him up and whatever she has to do to make sure he can no longer hurt or attack her, even if it means chopping his arms and legs off if she must. She tries to heal herself with any potions of healing she may have or stop the bleeding as best as she can. She desperately tries to wake up from this nightmare. Hoping in anyway she can to better herself for it by any means necessary to incorporate any learning / intertwining this soul of his into hers to make her better / more a capable fighter / warrior.

Re: Storyverse 69 Subplots: Tania's Tale
Tania staggers back, weakened from blood loss, short of breath, vision blurring. She drops the bow. Concentrates on gaining composure, on freeing herself from this dreamscape. The barbarian lies dead, if one can truly be dead in this place. As the minutes pass the ground, body, sky begin to get fuzzy. Parts of the landscape float away like clouds. The ground drops out in chunks, revealing glowing blackness beneath. Tania feels herself rising.
With a start Tania awakens in bed, sitting upright in shock, reaching for Repentor. The dream is over.
Dawn approaches outside the elf's window.
There is a knock at the door.

She walks to the door still unsure of the dream she had last night and the battle with the barbarian. She grabs Repentor and ask who's there from the side of the inside of the door.
Who's there ?
Who's there ?

Re: Storyverse 69 Subplots: Tania's Tale
Tania the elf consults her arcane mentor Gilgad the Disturbing. She is reassured at his words.
The sylvan sorceress considers what path to take in her occult studies - specialize in summoning and conjuration, or remain a generalist?
Gilgad explains his need for Leucrotta hide. Tania agrees to hunt the beast.
"Something to research, and in understanding arrive at new thresholds of arcane knowledge," says Gilgad. "The 22 major arcana of the tarot correspond with the 22 paths that connect the spheres of the Kaballah. Both can be seen as allegorical representations of human experience. Research and be prepared to discuss."

not sure she understands what Gilgad wants her to research but she gives it some thought and starts preparing her things for the quest of finding the Leucrotta hide. She hopes to find her friends and discuss things since the last time they have spoken.

she asks Gilgad, what can you tell me of these Leucrotta, so they have any hidden abilities or dangers that me and my friends need to know about them when we find one?

Re: Storyverse 69 Subplots: Tania's Tale
Gilgad points to a copy of Elminster's Ecologies. Tanya sits down with the book to study her prey...
"The leucrotta is hated by all, so it dwells far from civilization. Needing to favor both its hunger and appetite for causing pain and suffering, it goes to great lengths to kill whatever prey it can get in the ruined castles, craggy valleys and dreary caves in which it lives. The leucrotta hunts with its ability to imitate a variety of noises, the most common ones being a woman, child, or domestic animal in distress. Prey, presumably foolhardy heroes that hear the sounds, come to investigate, and then the leucrotta knocks out and devours them. Injured leucrottas attack with a kick and flee. They are very sly. Though leucrottas prefer live meat, they are not above eating carrion, and this enhances their already bad reputation.
Sometimes leucrottas are enslaved by chaotic evil mages to act as guardians, but the creatures rebel at the first opportunity. Some druids believe them to be merely a mutated and hapless aberration, and try to protect them, but these are rare and generally thought mad. Leucrottas are valued by leatherworkers to make boots that enhance running. Their saliva is also said to be useful in love potions.
The leucrotta is an ugly mix of a stag, lion and badger, having the lion's body, badger's head and stag's legs. It is about seven feet tall and nine feet long, with cloven hooves, a leonine tail, and bony ridges for teeth. Most of the body is a pale beige, but its color darkens from grey to black towards the head. It has an overpowering stench. Its temperament is as ugly as its appearance. Leucrottas sometimes organize in packs, pairs, or family groups, but are not very social creatures, preferring gloomy solitude and sometimes extending their aggressive nature even to friends and family."
