Chp. 5: WTF?!

Eledhon the half-elf druid has been a quiet one since leaving the Keep. His old friend Desertfox chocked it up to being among strangers. Now it seems something more.

The adventurers chase the suspect Eledhon out of the council chamber. Fingal the thief is in front and glimpses the druid turn up the north passage. He races after and hears a tinkle of metal too late and steps on scattered caltrops! (4 HP damage.)

Asherrion the elf veers to the edge in time to avoid the caltrops. Niles almost collides with Fingal. They and the others negotiate the caltrops slowly and continue the chase.

The north passageway slopes up and swerves ahead 30', where there is a chamber opening to the east, and continues sloping up another 30' at which point it splits east and west. Eledhon is not seen. But he must be near!

Actions?

- Caltrop damage to Fingal [1d4] = 4
- Fingal please save vs dragon breath or movement is halved from a caltrop being in your foot.

[1d20] = 15 (needed a 15) Damn them must be some big ass caltrops.

Fingal will give up the chase and stay at the intersection watching for anything coming in from the entrance way. He will continue to listen down the north passage to see if his friends need help while he picks up the dangerous caltrops.

"Guys, come back!" Albertus shouts at the sight of some of the party taking chase. "He is too far gone and apparently familiar with these tunnels giving us little chance of capture...least for now"

He waits in the large cavern for the other to return.

Asherrion

Asherrion continues the chase. He will scan the first room east, if he doesn't immediately see the druid, he will continue up the sloping passage.

Come, let's spilt and find him!

Technically speaking, Eledhon has a one round lead so he can only go so far.

"Get the bastard!" yells Vorkath the paladin, huffing along in his plate mail with the others up the north passageway. He and Asherrion glance into the east chamber off that hallway. Rows of simple cots with crude small chests at the foot of each. No Eledhon.

"Forward!" exclaims Vorkath, rushing north.

Niles thinking they may have ran by the doppelgänger stops and stays silent while listening

Wulfhart gathers his rope and puts it in his pack. "Come on Burt, let's stay with the others."

He pushes the female orc forward, following the direction the party took.

Niles the fighter pauses, listens, hears nothing in the east cots chamber. Then he hears up the north passage: "There - that way!"

Some of the adventurers chase Eledhon. Remaining in the council chamber is Wulfhart the fighter, Albertus the cleric, Groyn the dwarf, Boddin the hobbit, Foracor, Desertfox and the bound she-orc.

Wulfhart considers leaving.

Suddenly they hear a desperate female voice down in the pit. "Help me, I'm tied up down here! Oh please help!"

"I'm not going down there" says Wulfhart defiantly, crossing his arms. "Probably another trap. Or some zombie, or flying creature from the sky. Let's follow the others and come back for this supposed damsel later. She'll keep."

Asherrion continues the chase.

Following Wulfhart, outside the room, Albertus yells down the pit where the voice came from. "We will be right back. Try to stay calm."

Wulfhart & Albertus also make chase with the others.

Groyn

He stops at the pit, looks around to make sure no one is sneaking up behind him, then peers into the pit. He wonders if Asherion could have changed into a female? Things are not right here, he would not be suprised if it were.
What's your name lass? Keeping his distance from the pit.

Groyn the dwarf remains in the council chamber with Desertfox the fighter and Foracor the elf.

"My name is Lystramda!" responds the damsel in the pit passageway. "I was captured by orcs! Quick before their pet eats me!"

Foracor looks at Desertfox who looks at Groyn. "We have to do something," exclaims Foracor, taking out his rope and grapple.

"Aye," agrees Desertfox. "Secure the rope Groyn!" The elf and human climb down the rope. Reaching the bottom, they move into the passage with weapons drawn.

The other adventurers chase Eledhon the druid, who Albertus suspects is the doppleganger who plagued the party in the past.

Fingal the thief, Asherrion the elf and Niles the fighter lead the chase up the north passageway to the east/west split. The elf hears the scrap of a foot on stone to the west! They race in that direction and after 30' come into another chamber lined with cots. They spy Eledhon running to the exit corridor in the opposite wall 40' away!

Wulfhart, in an exasperated tone, says "We're splitting up. What could go wrong?" He heads off north with the others. No way he's going down that pit with just two or three others.

The "E" in the northwest corner is Eledhon. The "P" is the party of chasers. If initiative is won, missile attacks could hit Eledhon.

Niles hears the yelling and rejoins the chase.

Niles charges Eledhon with his longsword drawn...

not sure what is going on but she stays with the group for fear of getting lost / split up. I think we should all stay together if possible. She stays with Wulfart and others guarding the female Orc. Be careful everyone, I think there is trickery going on here, they are trying to confuse us and get us separated from each other so we are weak in numbers and they will attack. She readies her twin war-hammers and takes a defensive stance at the least dangerous spot before all this commotion started.

Groyn is still watching all around him as he secures their rope.
