Wulfhart cries "we hurt that ugly bastard! Let's finish it off!" He runs down the hallway, armor clanging, as he tries to catch it. He won't fire his bow into melee, but will charge it with his sword if he can.

Boddin the hobbit

spins around to confront the repugnant reptilian that just gashed him. He cleaves with his axe Beninu and tears into the monster's right thigh! It snarls and slashes, one claw grazing the hobbit while its fanged teeth scratch! (2 HP damage.)

Wulfhart the fighter, Albertus the cleric and Asherrion the elf pursue down the cave corridor. They catch up and attack with swords and flail. The creature scrambles aside and up a wall as the adventurers swing in close quarters.

Groyn the dwarf, coming from the opposite south direction, gets the drop on the serpentine shape-shifter. Groyn hews with his battle-axe, cutting open its back! The heavily wounded monster hisses.

Back in the orc quarters, Fingal the thief hears footfalls and - is that hoofs? - coming from the west corridor. He quickly hides behind a cot in shadows against the south wall.

In strides a sartyr and elf, looking about cautiously. They look a little bedraggled. "Did I hear human voices?" whispers the elf to the satyr. "Perhaps we'll find help out of here!"

The satyr whips his head around. "Voices? It could be another trick."

The satyr picks halfheartedly though the quarters. "What do orcs eat? Do you think we'll find any palatable provisions?" Finding the cooling pot of corpse stew, the satyr clicks his tongue. "Pity."

The elf twists his head from side to side, his forest-green eyes seeking to pierce through the shadows,

"I was sure I heard someone out here. Stay alert."

Niles snaps out of his daze and attacks the reptilian creature.

The satyr seems too tired and hungry to maintain much alertness. "Would a moldy crust of bread be too much to hope for? Orcs can't just eat... stew. Can they?"

The satyr and elf walk east through the orc quarters. Dirty cots line the north and south walls, each with a small rough-hewn wood chest at the end. No food is in evidence. Then they each distinctly hear the sounds of combat echo from the hallway ahead of them. The hidden Fingal the thief watches as they move forward cautiously. They reach the corner of the south corridor and peak around. There is a group of adventurers fighting a reptilianoid monster.



The corridor is crowded as the heroes try to gain position for a strike. The slithering shapeshifter is on the side wall. It snarls at Boddin, whose previously blow dealt a heavy wound. It pounces, slicing with claw and rending with maw! (7 HP damage) The hobbit’s own axe swing is disrupted by his pain.

Easia the cleric scrambles to retrieve one of her thrown hammers. She hurls it at the monster and the holy weapon thuds into the creature’s shoulder. Asherrion the elf thrusts; Wulfhart the warrior hacks with the Fang of Cuthbert; Niles the young knight swings high; Groyn the dwarf cuts low; Albertus the cleric lacks room to strike. All miss as the monster takes to the ceiling.
