I thought Clerics had access to their entire spell list?

Also, is there an encumbrance bonus for high strength?
Clerics get the spell 'light' as a freebie. They can then choose all other allowed spells and cast them once between long rests.

Lets use the simple encumbrance system in the basic book, page B20. Thus, there won't be an encumbrance bonus for high strength. I won't be a stickler on encumbrance. But I will be on role playing! ;)

Erol Otus is the tasty, tasty frosting on the D&D and AD&D experience. In my opinion, there is no better TSR artist. I used to get lost in his pictures, especially the stuff in S3 (Barrier Peaks) and the Cthulhu section of D&DG.

I'm not sure if I'm just a little bit younger than you guys; or just came into the hobby later (I'm 38); but I got into D&D when I was about 9 or 10 (1985 or so); and while I played AD&D first (with my cousins who introduced me to RPGs); my first purchase was the Red Basic set with the Larry Elmore picture. No matter how old I get; when I look back; Elmore is still my favorite artist. Though I certainly enjoy Otus and Jeff Dee as well; and to me the way underrated Clyde Caldwell. I never did get much into Easley's pictures.....with the exception of the Dungeon Master's Guide cover with the dude opening the doors with the key around his neck.....that's a bad-ass picture!

Yeah, Max, I'm 6 years older than you, and as such, got into the hobby about 6 years earlier. Thus my admiration of the older iteration.

Erol Otus wins coolest name too, for sure!

Ok, thanks for the clarification. Basic encumbrance rules sound great!

In Advanced, I loooooove David Trampier as well as Erol Otus. I kinda have a soft spot for DCS III also.

Debating these guys is like a picking your favorite out of a box of chocolates.

Agreed. I'm a huge Elmore fan, but I get all gooey and nostalgic looking at any of the Basic or Advanced D&D art.

I'm really busy today... We're going to a wedding that is 200 miles away! And it will be over 100 degrees. Soooo. Maybe if everyone is ready we can start tomorrow (Sunday) or Monday.
