Just checking in to offer apols for being uber-busy again this week. Looking to get us caught up here sometime over this weekend will all the XP/level stuff and will make the next action post as well.

Looks like we still need a HP roll from SL for Ulrich for 4th level Cleric but other than that, you guys should be good to go. Don't want to assume but looking like some/most are thinking about more training starting on Day 7 In Game. Is that pretty much the consensus here, people?

Well, the timeline continues to progress regardless of what you guys choose to do In Game here. I've already made all my DM rolls & subsequent determinations regarding Ziller and the rescue mission, so that will either happen and they return to the ship & cove or they don't. If the latter becomes the case, then you guys will be left to consider launching a rescue mission for the initial rescue mission. But regardless of whether or not you all decide to continue training or adventuring, timeline stuff will occur nonetheless.

The other characters you have yet to meet (in Groups 2 & 3) are on different islands further east of yours. Above Game: they are all still alive and kicking, atm. Hopefully they will manage to survive their respective situational scenarios they are currently embroiled in and the meet up will eventually happen.


Update: apols for my continued absence here, gang. RL stuff came up over the weekend and I got stuck covering the on call again this week due to a staffing issue. Still working on stuff as I get time and will get those PMs out and next action post up when able. Continued appreciation for your patience here, all.

Apols for the lengthy delay again, guys. I got sent up to Reno, NV unexpectedly this week in somewhat impromptu fashion to assist the lone tech in getting caught up and been staying with an old buddy of mine to save some bucks over a hotel room. Between the long work days and catching up with my friend in the evenings afterward, haven't really had more than a few minutes here and there to log on and try to make progress.

Heading home tomorrow and looking to get us caught up here before the weekend's out. Thank you again for your enduring patience here, all!

Got roped into 2 double-shifts back to back trying to diagnose one of our premier customer's network issues that kept claiming it was us/our network (and it wasn't!) I was not able to get the next post up before getting called back out in the field early this am, but looking to get that completed and up by this evening. Yeah, just to be clear, no one has completed the new training, so everyone is still where they were before the party started their current training regiment:

I just responded to a few pms & posts and it appears that my house rule for allowing you guys to roll hit points for your new levels before you've actually trained, and therefor officially reached those levels, has only served to confuse the issue of exactly where everyone's character is at present. I apologize for the confusion here, all. When more of the treasure the party discovered was identified and thus valued, I thought that extra XP allocation made for a perfect time to do so.

Just so we're all clear, I'll list every PC's summary below. This will include level summary information as well as current base (not final) XP. This information was originally posted in the Game Announcements & Status thread but figured a summary rehash would be helpful here for clarification:

Now I realize that BtB, training is not supposed to be interrupted, and if it is, then the character has to start over. I made a post not too far back that reflected my interpretation on this for the party's current situational status, which basically led to me making a house rule to apply here. This is what I posted regarding that:

Seems pointless to even bother trying to train if we know things are going to happen in the near future that would delay or negate any training done up to that point...

You know, I was thinking about that all day today, Al. I think my previous OOC post could have come across over-harshly and generalizing.
(It was very early in the morning and I'd been at it a long time! )

Normal BtB is one thing but you all are in a somewhat unique situation. You have title-level trainers and specialists providing more focused training. That speeds up the process greatly. You've been continuously serving & training with these same trainers, which allows for additional proficiency in efficiency. Use of these skills in your adventuring is another point of order to note. It's almost like you've never really stopped training, and to a certain degree, that presents a streamlining opportunity that's realistic, imo.


So we're clear here, good people, let's go with this:

Rule: Your character will receive and bank (or store) each day's uninterrupted training upon completion. Training days will continue to accumulate until the character has completed the number of days required to reach their next level.

caveats: If the training day is interrupted, you won't get credit for that day. You will be able to bank (or store) and also accumulate training days you've completed. If your character becomes severely-injured and/or incapacitated, any training days accrued will be considered lost.*


* So that means if the characters train for 3-4 days before having to take action, they keep those 3-4 days banked. As long as they don't become seriously-injured, they could take a day (or even two) to do some scouting or exploring, or even fighting, and not lose that.

POP: There would have to be some kind of time limit imposed, however, such as training part or halfway and then taking off for a long mission or other lengthy endeavor (say more than 3-4 days or a week, for example). Likely would have to be a case by case basis but as DM I'll make perfectly sure everyone's clear on what's what before it occurs. No "screwing the unaware player" surprises there, thank you very much.

So I'm hoping this clarifies things a bit and perhaps answers any lingering questions folks have about where their PC is at present. I went through the Battle Sheets earlier and observed that many of them are pretty far out of date. If you have the time, please go through those and update them to reflect the current level information notated above. This should always include memorized spell rosters for all casters, so that when the spell is cast, it can be crossed out and/or perhaps noted with date, if you want to keep track of what spells your PC has cast. If you've already got yours current, then disregard.

If you have any questions, or need any additional explanations or clarifications, go ahead and get 'em posted here and I'll respond as soon as I'm able. If it's regarding something that you don't want to make public, then shoot me an email!

I'm the DM. It's on me. I'm the one that has to make sure the players are getting correct, concise information and understand the situation at all times, IC & OOC. I'm realizing how much more important this is for PbP! If the DM don't explain things right, there's wiggle-room for uncertainty and assumption for the players.

Posting in the wee hours of the morning whilst running low on sleep and therefor focus causes ramped & rabid inarticulations. Not to mention lost posts...

The glowing eyes are just in the northern treeline across the cove from her last noted position on the south side where she met and was waiting for the Giant Owl. Let's call it @ 150 feet.

Emm had enough time to re-up her spell roster from the 3 1st level spells she cast that day. That process would have concluded at @ 11:00pm.

Caelvanna is currently @ 70 feet away from where the giant rats are going around the wall of flame on both sides. That would put her 1st shot at medium range and then her 2nd & 3rd at short range as they move to engage those on the beach.

Of course, she could choose to continue firing at the giant rats as they round the wall at medium range if she wanted to. Not my call there!
