Gwydion, Elf Ranger
Gwydion drops his sword, gets his bow out and fires at the kobolds as they rush by in the hallway, chasing the Fop:
To hit: [1d20+3] = 20+3 = 23, damage with bow: [1d6] = 6

To hit: [1d20+3] = 7+3 = 10, damage with bow: [1d6] = 2

Gwennethel, Elf Druid

Gwennethel drops to one knee and fires off an arrow.

To Hit [1d20+1] = 7+1 = 8; Dmg [1d6] = 2

Gwennethel mutters That's what I get for missing my prayers".

She fires off another arrow.

To Hit [1d20+1] = 19+1 = 20; Dmg [1d6] = 3

Biblo, phantasmancer

Biblo steps into the room with the secret door. He flips the table over sideways
Image
to form a defense 15' back from the portal into the hallway which the kobolds are moving north up.

"Adel, could you please pour oil in front of the table and ready the lantern to light it if they come here?"

The arcanist gets behind the table for cover, loads a stone bullet into his sling staff, and fires when he sees a kobold cross by in the hallway.

Biblo sling-staff [1d20+1] = 20+1 = 21, damage [2d4] = 4 :D

Initiative Roll:
Initiative [1d6] = 3 - Party
[1d6] = 5 - Monsters
Monsters win!!

Round 2 Begins!!

Still two kobolds are using rusty daggers, but the rest seem to have a nice quality of short sword. One kobold with a rusty dagger attacks Merthyr.
To Hit [1d20] = 14; Dmg [1d4] = 2
The kobold misses drastically, scraping its rusty blade against Merthyr's armor doing no damage at all.

Another kobold with a rusty dagger lashes out at Sammy the Barbarian.
To Hit [1d20] = 7; Dmg [1d4] = 4
This kobold can't seem to hit the broad side of a wooly mammoth and Sammy doesn't even have to move to get out of the way.

Trendt finds the kobold he's fighting using a short sword and it swings at his gut.
To Hit [1d20] = 3; Dmg [1d6] = 2
The Dwarf nearly laughs at the little bugger as it doesn't even come close.

Another kobold finds itself facing both Corun and Rubesca together and decides to take a swing at the cleric with its short sword.
To Hit [1d20] = 11; Dmg [1d6] = 5
The swing seems to go between the cleric and the ranger, hitting nothing and no one.

The party attacks back! Trendt attacks with his mace as the kobold jumps out of the way, laughing at him to further enrage the dwarf.
Footman's Mace Hit[1d20+1] = 10+1 = 11 Damage[1d6+2] = 6+2 = 8

Sammy the barbarian takes a swing at a kobold with his massive sword, but the little monster jumps backward and joins his brother in laughing as the sword misses him.
[1d6] = 6 init [1d20+1] = 11+1 = 12 to hit [1d10+1] = 7+1 = 8 damage

Merthyr gives it a try with his bastard sword.
Bastard sword to hit: [1d20+1] = 7+1 = 8, damage vs S/M opp: [2d4+2] = 5+2 = 7
The little bugger jumps out of the way, joining is companions in their harsh, gutteral laughter. They seem to be enjoying themselves a little too much in this battle.

Coppish pays no mind to the laughter and shoots a kobold with an arrow.
To hit: [1d20+4] = 17+4 = 21, damage with bow: [1d6] = 4
His aim is true and the kobold that was laughing at Trendt falls over dead, but another kobold rushes through the mess to take its place.

A second arrow flies from Coppish's bow, but misses its target.
To hit: [1d20+4] = 6+4 = 10, damage with bow: [1d6] = 4
The kobolds don't even seem to know the arrow went wizzing by them.

Corun swings his long sword, intent on killing.
To Hit [1d20+1] = 19+1 = 20; Dmg [1d12] = 1
While his aim is true, the kobold still stands in front of him with a bleeding gash in its chest.

Rubesca raises her flail and swings.
To Hit [1d20+1] = 1+1 = 2; Dmg [1d6+2] = 5+2 = 7
She misses the kobold completely and hears it laughing at her despicably.
[1d20] = 14
She manages to hold onto her flail as she gets angry.

Dakara positions another bullet to her sling and lets loose.
To Hit [1d20] = 13; Dmg [1d4+1] = 4+1 = 5
Her aim is true and the bullet flies hard, knocking a kobold straight between the eyes, causing instant death. Yet another kobold moves to takes its place from the room beyond.

There are 9 kobolds left that the party can see.

Meanwhile... Freddie saw kobolds running up from the southern corridor and has screamed out a warning to the others inside the room with the secret door. He runs 60' out of the cave and alerts the skunks. 10 skunks gather in front of him at hearing Gwennethel's call of warning from inside. They point their hind ends in the direction of the cave entrance. The other ten seem to be too far away from the cave to have heard and still mozey around eating berries. A hawk quickly flies out of the cave, having left Gwennethel behind. It perches high up on the dead tree's branch and begins squawking.

Freddie fires an arrow at the first sign of kobolds chasing him, which they do immediately.
To Hit [1d20+4] = 8+4 = 12 Damage [1d6] = 4
Unfortunately, he misses, but the skunks begin to spray. While some of the kobolds are hit directly and suffer temporary blindness, the others begin gagging over the horrible smell and the line can't proceed from out of the cave entrance. Freddie still has 40' distance between himself and the gagging and blinded kobolds.

Biblo, Adel and Llewellyn move into the room behind Gwydion and Gwennethel. Biblo knocks over a table to create a barrier for himself. It is 15' from the hallway. He then asks Adel to pour some oil in front of the table and light it if the kobolds should come into the room. Indeed, the kobolds begin moving past the room and chase Freddie right outside, but they are stopped as the skunks outside begin to spray. They are stuck just inside of the cave entrance, gagging, while some in the front are temporarily blinded. Freddie's single arrow is seen wizzing over their heads, curving slightly to hit the stone wall beside them.

Gwydion uses his bow to shoot at two different kobolds. The first arrow strikes its target without fail.
To hit: [1d20+3] = 20+3 = 23, damage with bow: [1d6] = 6
20!.jpg
20!.jpg (19.63 KiB) Viewed 1153 times
His second arrow misses, hitting the stone wall just over the heads of the kobolds, but something unusual takes place...
Gwydion had uttered a small prayer to Corellon for success and his first arrow flies clean through one kobold and ends up hitting another! Both kobolds fall dead instantly!
Arrow does double damage to the first kobold, normal damage to the second.

Gwennethel's hawk has flown out of the cave to get out of this mess, going somewhere outside. She lets an arrow fly and completely misses, hearing another tell-tale "twang" as it hits the stone wall to the side of the kobolds.
To Hit [1d20+1] = 7+1 = 8; Dmg [1d6] = 2
She mutters about having not prayed to Corellon. The deity finds this amusing somewhere in the ethers from where he watches.
She lets a second arrow fly.
To Hit [1d20+1] = 19+1 = 20; Dmg [1d6] = 3
It hits the mark, but the kobold still stands. It turns to face the room where the rest of the party waits, then falls over dead before it can do anything else.

Biblo the Arcanist slings a bullet at a kobold in the hallway.
Biblo sling-staff [1d20+1] = 20+1 = 21, damage [2d4] = 4
A resounding "knock" is heard as the bullet thumps the kobold's head in the back, sending it sprawling onto the cave floor, dead.

The party can see that there are more kobolds now than were accounted for. Freddie had seen 12, but now there are a total of 12 that still live, while 4 others have just been slain. The kobolds in the back of the line turn to see their fallen brothers and look directly at the party in the room with the secret door. Two of the kobolds rush at Gwennethel and Gwydion to attack!

N.B. - There are three barrels of oil just inside the cave entrance where all those kobolds are gathered. Also, the map is wrong where Trendt, Coppish, Sammy and Merthyr are fighting. That should read Kx4, meaning 4 kobolds left in the room unseen.

Gwennethel, Elf Druid

If party wins initiative, Gwennethel becomes alarmed at Biblo's firing over her and Gwydion's heads. She says to Gwydion, "Let's fall back behind the table". She grabs her short sword as the distance is very small between them and the two kobolds who are rushing at them. She backs up and begins slashing at a kobold.

To Hit [1d20+1] = 20+1 = 21; Dmg [1d6] = 2

She lets out a victory cry!

"If only this table weren't overturned," says Llewellyn, "I could write a proposed injunction against these beasts! Though the pen is mightier than the sword, sometimes one must resort to the sword." Llewellyn prepares to strike with rapier and dagger at any kobold that gets to him.

Sort of, kind of. Actually still 10' away, but you can lunge and strike with the sword and dagger.

This for DM notes: Gwydion's strikes
To hit: [1d20+2] = 2+2 = 4, damage with sword: [1d8+2] = 5+2 = 7
To hit: [1d20-1] = 2-1 = 1, damage with dagger: [1d4+2] = 4+2 = 6

Adel nods to Biblo's request. He hands Biblo a flask of oil, and hands him the lantern. "I don't think you'll need these, but you can do the job yourself if things turn sour. In the meantime, keep the passageway illuminated!" The monk then leaps over the table and takes a position behind Gwennethel and Gwydion, attacking either of the kobolds with his long spear from the second rank if possible.

I think spear attacks from the second rank are possible, but I'm not sure of the rules here. I'm also assuming there can only be two human fighters abreast in a 10' space, but Adel will stand side by side if there's room for three.

Biblo, miragemage

Counting the more than dozen kobolds up against the five adventurers here, Biblo does not like the odds. With the hallway before him crowded with comrades, he holds back on any missile fire. He dumps Adel's oil in a wide line in front of the table, ready to light it with Adel's lantern if any kobolds get through the melee in front of him.

Round 2!

Initiative [1d6] = 6 - Party
[1d6] = 2 - Monsters
Party wins!

In the northwest room:

Trendt the dwarf says that someone needs to go get some of the barrels of oil as he swings his mace at the kobold that laughs at him.
Footman's Mace Hit[1d20+1] = 13+1 = 14 Damage[1d6+2] = 6+2 = 8
The kobold laughs no more as its brains are smashed in.

Sammy the barbarian calmly ignores the laughing of the kobold that faces him and swings again, but misses.
[1d20+1] = 4+1 = 5 to hit [1d10+1] = 6+1 = 7 damage
Although it's a miss, the kobold sees his brother's brains smashed in next to him and sobers up.

Merthyr the half-elf swings his bastard sword while telling Trendt that he's perfectly happy staying here and fighting.
[1d20+1] = 16+1 = 17, damage vs S/M opp: [2d4+2] = 8+2 = 10
His bastard sword slices the kobold's head clean off!

Dakara the cleric uses her sling with great skill from the top of the table.
To Hit [1d20] = 20; Dmg [1d4+1] = 2+1 = 3 - Double Damage!
The kobold trying to get through the door flies backward with the force that just hit his head and he finds an instant death with little pain.

Corun swings his long sword and completely misses the kobold that he and Rubesca are fighting against.
To Hit [1d20+1] = 9+1 = 10; Dmg [1d8] = 8

Rubesca swings her flail at the same kobold.
To Hit [1d20+1] = 14+1 = 15; Dmg [1d6+2] = 1+2 = 3
The kobold is backstepping while she hits it, so it manages to survive her blow, but is critically injured and barely standing.

Five kobolds are now left, all have come through the door and are facing the opposition. There seem to be no more coming through the door. Each of the fighters are now facing one kobold each, but Coppish and Dakara are in the back with their ranged weapons, finally outnumbering them.

The first kobold takes a swing at Merthyr with its short sword.
To Hit [1d20] = 15; Dmg [1d6] = 4
The blade barely scrapes along the half-elf's armor, doing no harm to speak of.

The next kobold takes a swipe at Trendt.
To Hit [1d20] = 18; Dmg [1d6] = 4
The kobold hits Trendt, it's blade catching the dwarf across the chest. Trendt: -4 HP

A third kobold swings its short sword at Sammy.
To Hit [1d20] = 12; Dmg [1d6] = 5
The kobold misses the barbarian by at least a foot.

A fourth kobold swings at Rubesca.
To Hit [1d20] = 19; Dmg [1d6] = 6
Rubesca feels the short sword slice her gut open. Rubesca: -6 HP

The final kobold swings at Corun with a snarl, finally seeing victory for his side.
To Hit [1d20] = 9; Dmg [1d6] = 6
The kobold misses, its eyes going wide with shock. His critical injury seems to have jarred him too much.

In the room with the secret door and outside the cave:

Initiative Roll:
[1d6] = 5 - Party
[1d6] = 6 - Monsters
Monsters win!

The kobolds stuck in the entrance to the cave begin to move around those in the front ranks, trying to get at Freddie. The two in the back of the line have gone to attack Gwennethel and Gwydion.

The first kobold strikes at Gwennethel with a rusty dagger.
To Hit [1d20] = 13; Dmg [1d4] = 1
It moves forward as it strikes her, only slightly cutting her leg. Gwennethel: -1 HP

The second kobold takes a swing at Gwydion as the elf drops his bow and pulls out his sword and dagger.
To Hit [1d20] = 3; Dmg [1d4] = 3
Its rusty dagger does nothing as it hits the elf's armor.

Gwennethel is moving behind the table as she drops her bow to pull out her short sword and makes a strike after getting her leg cut.
To Hit [1d20+1] = 20+1 = 21; Dmg [1d6] = 2 Double Damage!
The kobold falls dead at her feet without a sound as the she-elf gives a victory cry.

Gwydion strikes back at the kobold attacking him.
To hit: [1d20+2] = 2+2 = 4, damage with sword: [1d8+2] = 5+2 = 7
To hit: [1d20-1] = 2-1 = 1, damage with dagger: [1d4+2] = 4+2 = 6
Both strikes miss!

Llewellyn prepares his weapons and waits to see if any kobolds come toward him, but only one kobold is in the room and still attacking Gwydion.

Adel has handed the lantern to Biblo while the bibliomancer waits behind the table to start a fiery barricade. The monk moves forward as Gwennethel pulls behind the table and jabs his spear into the kobold that still remains, attacking Gwydion.
Spear attack (THAC0 20) [1d20] = 19, damage sm/m [1d6+0.5] = 4+0 = 4
The monk has killed the kobold and saved Gwydion's life.

The other kobolds are still at the cave entrance, being gagged by the stinking spray left by the skunks, which spray yet again. Again, the kobolds that have tried to move toward Freddie have been stopped in their tracks, temporarily blinded while another round of gagging occurs. They have only managed to move 10' closer to the elf.

Freddie uses this to his advantage, shooting at two kobolds.
To Hit [1d20+4] = 9+4 = 13 Damage [1d6] = 3
To Hit [1d20+4] = 4+4 = 8 Damage [1d6] = 5
The first arrow strikes a kobold and kills it, its death slow and with a lot of gurgling sounds made.
The second arrow misses any target and hits the stone wall to the right of the cave entrance.

Freddie hears the sound of jingling metal behind him. It is very close now! The horse outside of the cave seems to be looking directly at this new found thing coming at the elf.

Sum up:
Rubesca: -6 HP; 2 HP left.
Trendt: -4 HP; 5 HP left.
Gwennethel: -1 HP; 7 HP left.

End of Round 2.

Initiative for Room Coppish is in (we need to roll for init?, or you did already?):
[1d6] = 5

Coppish fires his bow at two separate kobolds - if he can do so without risking other party members:
To hit: [1d20+4] = 8+4 = 12, damage with bow: [1d6] = 1
To hit: [1d20+4] = 3+4 = 7, damage with bow: [1d6] = 4

Initiative for the other room(?):
[1d6] = 1

Gwydion will back away from the door, urge Adel to do so as well, and try to get behind the table to protect the other two.
After the kobolds attack, he will counter attack:
Sword, dual wield: To hit: [1d20+2] = 17+2 = 19, damage with sword: [1d8+2] = 7+2 = 9

Dagger, dual wield:
To hit: [1d20-1] = 16-1 = 15, damage with dagger: [1d4+2] = 1+2 = 3
The worms crawl in,
the worms crawl out,
the worms play pinochle on your snout

I rolled for the kobolds only.
