Ummm... no. That's not what he's checking on. If you want to weigh yourself down with gold and valuable gear you can't use, then that's all up to you. Abe was just checking to make sure there wasn't a chance of saving him.

i know... it was another lame dig at the poor elf... why would anyone actually want to umm, save him?

I've replaced the 'Maps' topic, which I wasn't really wasn't updating, with an 'Inventory' topic. Here I will track all surplus inventory remaining, by location.

Re: elves and souls

In LL there appears to be no such restriction, but it very clearly states in the OSRIC and 1e rules (I believe it is also true in B/X/E):
The eerie, keening incantation of this spell calls a soul back from the afterlife, literally bringing the dead back to life. Elves, as they do not have souls, cannot be brought back to life in this manner, but humans, half-elves, half-orcs, gnomes, dwarfs, and halflings can all be raised from the dead by means of this spell.
So you can't Raise Dead on an elf.

Now that the party has been reduced to three, I'll need a new marching order.

I don't think this is necessary.

When the dwarf tried going through, the response from the DM was that some rubble would need to be moved for HIS significant girth. He translated it to be OUR size, probably as a joke. But it should be opened wide enough for you to go through at this point.

Is that "Ahh!" as in an exclamation of discovery or "Ahh!" as in a cry of distress?

Sorry, was going for "irritable with slightly humorous undertones" but I think I'm a little off today.

If you can imagine, though, a monk who works in a scriptorium 12 hours a day suddenly finds himself underground, fighting for his life. He isn't going to be happy-go-lucky. ;)

How many could fight if we loaded one or two at the Western tunnel and the northern tunnel, facing the kobolds coming from the south?
Just the front PC at each, or a chance to squeeze in another attacker?

This.

Only the front person from each would have a legitimate chance of attacking anything approaching from the south.

Regardless of opponent, both front character in each branch could attack. The number of potential targets available to attack will depend on the size of the attacking creatures. If they are small enough (e.g. kobolds), two of them can be attacked per round. If the attacking creatures are medium or larger creature, only one can be targeted per round.
