Odilo "Shall we try the scepter?"

Re: Ch. 5: The Pillared Throne Room
"well I inserted said bronze key like thus", McCloud takes hold of the key as in some cookery demonstration class, (his skills never ending!), " and oh yes turn it to the clock wise all the way and then an extra turn just like when you're locking your wagon wheel nuts when you stop your cart in downtown Vermont", McCloud turns the key and then expecting a bang or zap, "and failing that you turn to the left or kiss your nuts goodbye.".
Re: Ch. 5: The Pillared Throne Room
The Dwarf kneels and pushes hard on the spot where the crack begins. Figuring key-traps, remembering, thinking, these are best left to those who don't knoz minin.'
Re: Ch. 5: The Pillared Throne Room
McCloud takes the bronze key and inserts it into the hole. He turns it once, clockwise.
Nothing happens.
He turns it clockwise again.
Nothing happens.
He turns the key once counterclockwise.
Nothing happens.
Meanwhile, Urdak pushes on the spot where the crack begins. Nothing happens.

Re: Ch. 5: The Pillared Throne Room
Odilo despite his better judgement takes the scepter and drops it into the "keyhole" in the floor.

Re: Ch. 5: The Pillared Throne Room
Odilo picks up the scepter and returns it to whomever was originally carrying it.

Re: Ch. 5: The Pillared Throne Room
"Shall we at least look round this corner whilst you are examining tht hole? McCloud can you check here for traps so we can take a gander?"
Re: Ch. 5: The Pillared Throne Room
Frustrated with the bronze key, McCloud will leave it stuck in the lock, cursing profusely about "doing half a job with half the tools and it wasn't like this when he robbed old McDonalds farm" and go search traps around the corner with Skarlos. What do we see around the corridor?
Re: Ch. 5: The Pillared Throne Room
Around the corner, the hall widens to 20' and ends in a wall with two doors.

Re: Ch. 5: The Pillared Throne Room
Odilo "Well either way we're stuck. Either one of us checks the doors for magic and traps then tries one of them then the other or we wait rest and get our servants back to try the doors. What do the others of you think?"

Re: Ch. 5: The Pillared Throne Room
"I can check for traps using the power of my god. He will bestow this upon me today as I hvent called upon him for it yet"
Skarlos waits to see that there are no vehement disagreements before proceeding.
Assuming no he will look all round the corridor, doors and the hole in the floor.

Re: Ch. 5: The Pillared Throne Room
Urdak continues to check and re-check the floor crack, attempting the kneeling-pushing technique moving a couple of feet at a time around its borders until he is sure that it just doesn't work that way. Discovery by repeated failure. After he is certain he has learned something, he'll gaze about until he finds something resembling a pole for further study.
Re: Ch. 5: The Pillared Throne Room
McCloud left the bronze key in the keyhole frustrated with the tomb, if someone else wants to go have a try then go ahead, McCloud will venture towards the doors to check for traps on the floor, firstly in front of the left hand door.

Re: Ch. 5: The Pillared Throne Room
Odilo goes to the two doors and stands there staring at them. Scratching his wild untammed beard from time to time but looking lost in thought.

Re: Ch. 5: The Pillared Throne Room
Urdak continues to check the floor cracks. He kneels and pushes, and finally convinces himself that it just doesn't work that way.
McCloud gives up on the keyhole, leaving the bronze key in place. He ventures to the doors to check for traps. Checking both doors, he finds no traps.
Odilo stands and stares at the doors.

Re: Ch. 5: The Pillared Throne Room
So do we have no means to turn the key again except by someone using their hand? If no one is willing (which I totally understand!) to do it why dont we rest, re-memorise US and try again?
Re: Ch. 5: The Pillared Throne Room
Urdak harrumphs at the crack in the floor and pauses, hands on his hips, as if expecting a response. Finally he turns away. Don' steppn zere, he finally indicates to his companions, and turns away. Humon Iloilo, mebbe Ae cn' figger outn ya trappns ifn ya cn' figger mine. He saunters over to the doors.
