A Roadside Scuffle – Round Eight

The adventures persevere, knowing numbers are on their side. But the unseen gods of chance serve no one. Will it be a pyrrhic victory?

Wulfhart the fighter, Foracor the elf and Bayard the cleric clash with sadistic swordsman Garbanzo. The wood elf hews at the thug with Orcslicer the bastard sword. Garbanzo blocks it, spits at the elf, slashes and is blocked again by the elven shield.

"You talk better than you fight. Say hello to Slurpy as I send you to the pits of hell!" yells Wulfhart

as he slashes at Garbonzo. The northern warrior’s blade slides along the length of Garbanzo’s sword, breaks the cross hilt, and continues into his forearm. “Aaggh!” Garbanzo cries, the deep wound spewing blood. He takes hold of his sword in his other hand. He is heavily wounded.

Bayard the cleric takes advantage of Wulfhart’s blow and swings his trusty quarterstaff at Garbanzo. The oaken staff whacks him in the hip!

Meanwhile the invisible hobbit Boddin grits his teeth, maneuvers to Ramrod's rear, and swings his Beninu hard. But at that moment the barbarian lunges forward to help Garbanzo, and Boddin’s axe misses. Ramrod’s big sword catches Wulfhart in the right flank (6 HP damage.)

Groyn the dwarf resolutely fights Idonea,

swinging his axe but again being blocked by the femme fatale. She in turn lunges with sword; the dwarf’s trusty armor bears the brunt.

Niles, Fingal and Bene the dog face down Boc Maxima. Fingal the thief feints, flicks and thrusts with his sword but is again denied. Niles the fighter uses that distraction for a backslash slice and slides through, gashing Boc’s right arm! Bene the dog tries biting Boc again but breaks a tooth on his thigh armor. Boc is moderately wounded.

A Roadside Scuffle – Round Nine

The wounded Garbonzo begins to worry as Wulfhart, Foracor and Bayard press the attack.

"Run now while you still have two legs," Wulfhart sneers as he swings at his dogged opponent. Foracor the elf thrusts Orcslicer, Bayard the cleric lunges with staff. Garbanzo gains a second wind and furiously parries all three of their attacks, but is unable to execute his own against Bayard.



The heavily wounded Ramrod hews at Wulfhart but his blow lacks force and bounces off the northern warrior’s armor. Boddin the hobbit, still invisible from his missed axe swing, gets up close to the barbarian’s backside and brings Beninu boring down. His axe cleaves Ramrod’s arse in twain! Blood and shyte splatters. Ramrod lets out a high-pitched scream and topples to the ground dead.


Boc Maxima keeps cool, blocking Fingal the thief’s thrust. Bene the dog growls and snips ineffectually. Niles swing and cuts but is repelled. Boc attacks Niles too but the young fighter valiantly deflects the blow with his shield.

Groyn the dwarf growls, “Me thinks you should take a closer look at me Battle-Axe, you nasty wretch!” and swings quick sideways at Idonea. Her right forearm is gashed badly, and when she tries to hit back with her sword the blade slips from her grasp! (Fumble)

A Roadside Scuffle – Round Ten


The orgy of death continues amid moans of pain. Bloody blades cross. Brawny fighters swing their big swords trying to penetrate armor to pierce soft flesh.

Garbanzo blanches as Ramrod falls. Then he grits his teeth and fights to the death! The wounded fighter slashes at Wulfhart, but his attack is flaccid.

"Go help Groyn! I'll finish off this weakling Garbanzo!" boasts Wulfhart...

...as he takes a two-handed hold on his sword hilt and thrusts at the bleeding bully. The sword drives past Garbanzo’s blade and skewers his right breast! Foracor the Fleet chops Garbanzo with Orcslicer, slicing his left hand off. Blood ejaculates from the stump. Garbanzo falls dead.

Idonea curses Groyn as she fails to hack his head. The dwarf in turn finds it hard to get past the woman’s defenses.

Niles the fighter, Fingal the thief and Bene the dog hound Boc Maxima. Boc tries another lunge on Niles, but his indomitable defense holds.

But the heroes and dog fail too to break Boc’s puissant parries.

Brother Bayard pulls backs as Wulfhart and Foracor fight Garbanzo. He sees Boddin reappear as Ramrod Queerstaff falls. Bayard goes to the wounded hobbit and casts Cure Light Wounds upon him (3 HP.)

Easia remains paralyzed. The enemies Gus the thief, Clement the Cleric, Florence Mage with Flair, and Razmus are paralyzed, praying.

- Garbanzo sword on Wulfhart [1d20+1] = 3+1 = 4, damage [1d8+1] = 5+1 = 6 Miss
