Zix reaches into the sleeping man's vest but brushes his chest. His eyes pop open. "Gotya girl!" He reaches for her wrist. "Onto the next test," he says pointing.

The mock-living room is next. It has two divans, two chairs, a table with a locked caged shrew on top of it, and a lit fire-place with a pot holder rack in it from which dangles a key. There is a piece of parchment on the table that reads: "Find the hidden piece of meat in the room. Snatch the key from the fire. Under the shrew's nest in the cage is the prize. Get it."
- 1d6 on meat search
- 3d6 Dex check to snatch key from fire pot holder without burning self.

Shrews are carnivorous. Zix attempts to pick the lock on the shrew's cage.
... unsuccessfully.

It's just a silly rodent cage, though. Zix tries to pry the bars of the cage apart with her dagger, carefully avoiding the shrew.

Zix reads the note but decides to skip the first two directives. Foregoing the key, the elf attempts to pick the lock. It is stubborn. She inserts the dagger as a crowbar to bend the shrew cage bars open.
Str.-based Open Doors roll, 1d6 please.

Zix figures the only thing to do is do what the piece of paper says and find the meat without the benefit of a hungry shrew.

The meat must be masterfully hidden for Zix cannot find it. The key to the cage hangs in the fire.

Zix flips over both divans, slits them opened with her dagger, tears out their stuffing, turns over both chairs and does likewise. Next she sets the cage on the floor and turns over the table.

Zix continues searching for the meat by checking the fireplace mantle, next examining the stones in the fireplace, carefully poking at each of them.

The caged shrew snarls at Zix as she continues her search.

As she does so she thinks about the note. It said get the prize under the shrew's nest in the cage. The prize is the goal. The meat perhaps a means of distracting the shrew while she looks under the next. There are other methods.
The d6 roll represented your search, which you didn't make. But you can also specify by text, as you are doing, and if such search is described correctly to see it then you'll find it. So far not.

Zix stabs the shrew through the cage. It takes a few attempts because it is so fast. The rodent lies dead.

Zix snatches the key without burning her hand. She opens the cage and shoves aside the dead shrew. Under the nest is an electrum coin carved with a symbol of the Guild. This must be the prize the parchment note referred to.

The next room is a basic kitchen, with table, chairs, chopping block, dry sink. On the table are three pieces of parchment. They are in a vaguely familiar language (Read Languages rolls for each.)

The letter Zix deciphers says: "Congratulations on your ability to read languages. This letter is a prize that improves your Run scoring."

The elf continues to the next room. This is a mock tavern common-room that contains a bar, stools, three small tables. There are, surprisingly, people occupying the room - a bartender, serving girl, patrons. Actors, Zix guesses.

"Welcome Zix!" says the bartender. "Have a seat, what would you like?"

Zix, conceals her suspicions about what comes next, sits down at the bar and replies, "A glass of your finest red, please," and watches what's unfolding around her.
