Illuq will check the doorway for anything and then see where those doors are, if he sees them he will lead the party there, "We could check out this room, perhaps it can be fortified."

Monkey: The doors the party passed are in the other tower and down some stairs. They are not visible from the door to this room.

Vorkath, paladin

"Crossing from the other tower was dangerous," says the Sword of the True God. "Let us descend this tower and see if there is another room to camp in."

Vorkath the Faith Hunter takes a sample sip from the translucent sapphire-colored fluid and the crystal vial filled with a clear liquid, hoping to identify what potions they may be.

Our heroes prepare to move on. Iluq checks the door to the room, finding on the opposite side only the stairs leading down the now-inert tower. Tibbius takes the jar of pitch and the strange body part, figuring them for summoning components. Fendt pockets the unfinished ring.

Vorkath samples the sapphire-colored fluid. It tastes bitter, but also sweet—like someone tried to make cherry-flavored bile. Anything that tastes that bad while pretending to taste good has to be medicinal.

He starts to take a sip of the clear liquid, and immediately spits and screams in pain. The paladin can only grunt, the soft tissues of his mouth horribly burned beyond use by what seems to be acid! (Vorkath: -2 HP)

Illuq looks over to Vorkath, alarmed by the sudden outburst before realizing he had sampled acid, "Well, thank you for that my friend, it would not do for one of us to gulp the whole thing in haste as we lay injured, thinking it was some kind of healing remedy." Illuq then descends the tower with the rest of the group, looking for another room to possibly camp in.

Vorkath, paladin

"Thlish shish shlot lashlid," mumbles Vorkath in pain with damaged mouth. He smashes the vial onto the floor. "Flunshholeesh shlwahtersth!"

Illuq, pained by the sight of his friend paladin, remarks to the group, "we should hurry along, the sooner we find a suitable room to camp the sooner Vorkath can treat his burns..."

Vorkath tries to say something, but all that comes out is gibberish. He smashes the vial on the floor. Strangely, the "acid" doesn't seem to be eating into the floor.

You descend the tower stairs in search of a safe place to rest, if such a thing exists in the castle of Strahd. The tower that had tried so hard to throw you from its steps stands lifeless and motionless now that its heart has been destroyed.

The stairs take you to the landing by the doorway through which you entered. Through that portal lies the precipitous bridge to the south tower. Eschewing that path, you continue down the tower stairs. The descent is long, and you tread carefully upon the open staircase.

About 100' further down, you reach another landing. A closed door stands to the east. An open arch to the northwest leads to a wide walkway atop the walls of the keep. At the west end of the landing, another arched opening leads into darkness. The tower staircase continues to spiral downward at the other end of the landing.

Agrippo's Sunsword glows dimly, indicating that no undead are within 30' at the moment.

Illuq cautiously heads to the door, standing to the side of it. He motions for the group to get ready, whispering out, "Check to see if it's locked?"

Fendt grabs the door opener/knob and tries to open it

Fendt opens the eastern door, revealing another walkway on the walls of the keep. Through the storm, you see that this walkway leads straight east to the castle's outer walls.

Fendt "I wish there was something I could do for you Vorkath. I'd have to say your method of testing the potions was a bit foolish but still a man shouldn't have to suffer the burns of acid in the mouth." Fend looks seeing this leads to outer walls "Well was there further down another door?"

Agrippo will check out the landing and the archways to the open air and the battlements, if all is clear then he will suggest we carry on further down. "there was a group of zombie lads down here and I thought maybe another door? It was the last place we saw Strahd so lets go that way".

There was one more archway, in the west wall of the tower. It leads into darkness, at least when you're on the opposite side of the tower where your light sources don't reach the arch. You'd have a good look at what lies beyond when you're standing next to the archway. Unless I hear differently, the next move (posted later this evening) will describe what you see beyond that arch. You can then decide whether to explore what you see there or continue downward.

Fendt offers his sympathies to Vorkath. Agrippo checks the open air and the battlements and finds them clear. You decide to proceed down after checking the archway in the western wall of the tower.

Peeking through the archway, you see a passage to the south ending in a door and hallway ahead of you lined with alcoves. The ceiling in that hallway has fallen in, leaving rubble strewn across the floor and the beams of Ravenloft's roof exposed. A graven statue stands within each of the 10 alcoves.

Robert's Torch of Everburning starts to flicker.

Fendt casts continual light onto his bo stick. "Maybe this will help with light."
