Ral's diligence pays dividends as he finds another pivot-top pit trap before the south door.

Does this pit trap span the corridor, or is there a way to walk around it?

It spans wall to wall, and up to the door itself.

Starting from the tilting platform and moving backward, Ral searches the 40' of corridor behind him for secret doors.

Ral backtracks and searches for secret doors but none are found.

Ral goes back to the first tilting pit and ties his silken rope to the iron rung wedged between the floor and the platform. He crosses over the platform again (to the "further along in the maze" side) then tries to yank the rung out.

With the weight of the stone floor slab, the rung is held fast (unless you roll a 1 on a Str. check.)

Ral huffs and puffs but fails to dislodge the rung.
Am I allowed to continue searching for hidden doors in this area, or is my failure permanent?

Your four rolls covered the corridor already.

Ral goes back to the torch bracket where he retrieved his current source of illumination and carefully inspects it. He pulls on the bracket and looks for hidden mechanisms.

The torch wall sconce is firm in place. No secret levers are found.

Is the sconce made of metal? If so, how long would it take to saw off the wall?

Another 15 minutes. Your hacksaw may need to make a save vs. blow to see if it gets dulled.

Ral decides he probably doesn't need pliers, anyway, and tries jamming the tilting platform with them in the same way he jammed the previous with the iron rung.

Ral sacrifices his pliers to wedge shut the pit top. The floor is firm as he faces the door.

Ral makes his way across the disarmed platform. He checks the door for traps and listens for any noises coming from the other side.

The door is unlocked, free of traps, and quiet beyond. Ral opens it cautiously. He sees a floorless 10'x10' space with a closed door on the opposite side. Instead of a floor is a 20' pit.

If I rope myself to the door I just opened and take a running jump, will I have a shot at a Dexterity check to catch hold of the handle of the door on the far side if I roll high enough on the jump?

Ral ties one end of his silk rope to his belt and the other to the inside door knob of the door he's just opened. He checks to make sure his equipment is secure - tightening the straps on his backpack, making sure his dagger and sling are held snug - and then takes a running leap for the door on the far side of the pit.
