Conan's Run (IC - Conan. Marcel only)

Conan feels the halfling leap onto his shoulder, slip about, and he thinks fall down behind him. There is scuffling in the dirt and eddies of dust.

Reacting with the feel, Conan quickly grabs "you're a bold fairy kobold pixie!"

"Barbarian lout! Who let you in the Guild!" snickers the hobbit.

He kicks Conan between the legs! (Critical for 2.) His stones hurt a little; his pride, much.

Impressed with his kick, Conan claims "I think you've a little barbarian in ya half-man, maybe on your MOTHER'S side!" And he goes for another grab.

Conan lunges and takes a firm grasp on the squirming hobbit.

He's caught. The barbarian rifles through his vest and finds an electrum coin bearing the Guild's sigil.

"Now let me go!"

There are no more mock-rooms in the large chamber. The only visible exit is in the west wall, a door on the balcony level 20' up.

[Marcel]

Letting the Halfling go "Cheers mister thief", Conan heads towards the balcony. He cautiously looks over and assesses the situation.

[Grognardsw]

The balcony is 20' above you.

[Marcel]

Climb Walls 92% [1d100] = 67

[Grognardsw]

Consn scales the wall, leaps out and catches the balcony edge and scrambles over. He faces the west door, obviously locked.

Without thieves tools -35% on pick lock. Open doors Str. roll is other option.

Conan fiddles with the lock and then puts a shoulder into it.

Consn easily breaks through the door. Steep stairs ascend upwards 30' before ending at another door. Can this mean he is reaching the surface again and an end to his Run?

Conan looks uneasy towards the steps as he cautiously climbs them.

He also checks the door.

He may need Thieve's Guild rehab when he's done. He'll never trust a simple passage or door again.

The door in untrapped and unlocked. It opens into a 20'x20' room. There is a door in the east wall. Two locked chests are in the middle of the room. Each has a piece of parchment on top, with a few words written in a difficult language.

Conan hovers above the letters and begins to read.

While the language in the first chest's note eludes the Cimmerian, Conan is able to decipher the note on the second chest. It reads: 'Press the bottom right corner nail head under the chest to open for the prize.'

Conan follows the instructions and presses the bottom right corner nail head under the chest.

[Grognardsw]

The chest clicks open. Inside is an electrum coin bearing the Guild sigil.

Prize claimed, Conan turns to the door in the room. The door bears no lock and opens to another steep and narrow stairwell that ascends 40' and turns north.

[Marcel]

Following the passage, Conan heads up the stairwell.

[Grognardsw]

Conan rounds the north corner and sees the stairs continue up another 40' to a door. Under the sill crack light shines out. As Conan's foot steps on the next stair there is a click and suddenly a short pole juts from the wall stopping a few inches from the barbarian's chest. On the end of it is a red cloth with words: 'This spear just killed you.'

Conan replies to the note, "Maybe an average man-thief" as he snaps the stick and continues to the door.
