Down in a Hole

"Don't we always Osric?" Scy laughs back at Osric.

Vik harrumphs with a sneering smile as he looks down in the hole. "Actually, no. But that's alright, we'll get it straight some day! Hey Scy, I think it's your turn to take the lead this time," Vik exalts with a wink to his childhood friend. "Don't worry, we'll be right behind ya. Call out of ya see any treasure, ok?"

"Oh why yes Vik if i see treasure I'll inform you only after I have taken my fill." again Scy chuckles.

The party gets down on hands and knees and crawls through the opening. Taking off packs and pushing them in front they find the tunnel they enter slightly larger than the mouth of the tunnel so Osrics massive shoulders only scrape the sides of the tunnel rather than getting stuck.

You crawl at for what seems an eternity but is actually more like 5 minutes when the ground begins to turn muddy making your descent even more miserable.

after a couple of more minutes of crawling the mud in front becomes deeper so hands past your wrist and most of your calf is covere din mud with each move forward.

until suddenly the floor collapses in under scy and he goes sliding down, serg made a dex check add +3 to your roll to stop from sliding after him.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh........................" splunk! grumbling sounds.

vik watches as scy disappears when the ground falls out from underneath him and unable to catch himself serg follows down the hole.

Scy tries to sit up and is holding his sides in pain. He tries to look around.

Feeling a little like the guy who is the hind end in a horse costume, Osric asks, "What's the problem up there."

Vik turns wide in the tight passage in a panic when the action goes down in front of him, thinking that he'll be sucked in by the temple monster as well.

Once he realizes he was safe, he grabs a hold of the walls and leans forward to call out down the hole that swallowed his childhood friends. "Scy! Serg!! You two okay down there?!"

Cilian holds the torch.

you pass it up and vik looks down.

you see the ground dropped away about 8 feet across the tunnel and you can see the hole leads down out of sight, slopped at a angle almost like a earthen muddy slide.

"Oh that's just great," Vik opines sarcastically as he tries to see down the earthen chute, his adrenaline still pounding in his head and trying not to become suddenly claustrophobic. "Guess we might need our ropes down here after all..."

He relays what he sees to the others and yells out again for his friends below as loud as he can. He urges the others to be silent as he listens for any response...

you hear some muffled voices from down below but you can't make out what is being said

Cilian says, "So it sounds like they're just below, maybe in a pit?"

Does the tunnel continue? Or is the only way "forward" to go down the hole?

with it being such a tight squeeze getting across the 8' hole would be very difficult. The sounds of the voice seem distant, not like they just fell down a 10' pit.
