Character Creation

#1 Post by Shonuff »

Use this to discuss character creation and setup.

Dice:
4d6 drop 1, (usually lowest). Reroll totals of 5 or less.
you may swap rolls to fit particular class.

Classes accepted:
Any base, any splat class or kit (EXCEPT necromancer, chronomancer or Bladesinger)
If you want a particular class/kit, run it by me here i'll let ya know.

LEVEL:
I am starting with offering everyone 5000 xp. You can mix it or match it any way you want.
Or single class it to 3rd or 4th. But any way you split it. It's split evenly. (unless you do 3 classes)

Alignment:
Some of you may want to play "dark and shadowy" or evil.. I won't stop you.....BUT,
expect not to survive long.. The capitol of Gothmoor just got over a 8 year long
undead overtaking and seige of undead... evil isn't "welcomed"...
(oh, and I kill pcs outright when you attempt to destroy party balance or cause chaos for chaos sake. :) )

Races:
all normal races allowed. again...any special race, talk to me and ask, we'll see what we can do.
(It's not unheard of seeing a bugbear walking through Gothmoor..as long as he obeys the laws and civility level within Gothmoor's walls.)

***NOTE TO ELF PLAYERS: The elves in Ages past have done a great bad thing commonly known as "The Great Offense". They are not favorably liked across most of Thaaed. They have just recently begun to come out of a self exile and began attempting to reunite with the rest of civilization. Any elf that has "redeemed their bloodline" wears a red armbad or red on their left arm. Most people within the nation of Gothmoor accept this and will be publicly civil with elves. The outer lands and villages on the outskirts still may refuse service, or give barely notice to any patron that is elven(red armband or not!). You will not be openly attacked...in the city. You have been warned. :)

Alright so a couple questions before I go and attempt my character creation idea.
Q1. How do you feel about the gnome race? Also if I did the sub-race of Forest Gnome any issues there?

Q2. You mentioned classes as well as kits how flexible are you on kits?

Laying it all out there for my initial intent here. I was thinking maybe a Gnome Cleric/Alchemist and using maybe the Explorer kit.

Edit: I forgot not sure if you are familiar or have access to the old Core 2.0 Software with Expansion but I have a copy and I like to use that for my character generation/creation is that an issue as I can make both Core Rule characters or with players options.

I don't see 1/2 orcs in the 2ED PHB. Do you use race modifiers and available classes from 1E PHB?

Q2. You mentioned classes as well as kits how flexible are you on kits? Depends. You can kit and dual/multi class and there are no level restricitons. You want to kit and class that's fine. if you are demi human.

Cleric/Alchemist is fine. Explorer kit is fine. mixing them= no.

I want to see what others are playng first to see which to chose a straight fighter, or a 1/2 orc fighter/thief.

Do you allow the fighting styles from the fighters handbook (two weapon style, weapon and shield style, etc)

stats rolls

Stats: STR:12, INT:5, WIS:16, DEX:14, CON:15, CHR:15

reroll of 5 per instructions
[4d6c1] = 15

so 12,15,16,14,15,15

i will wait to decide on race/class and stat [placement until i see what the party has

Stat Rolls

Stats: STR:16, DEX:14, INT:13, CON:17, CHR:11, WIS:15

Going Wild Dwarf

How do you do HP max for first level then roll for all levels after 1?

Adjusted stats for the Wild Dwarf adjustments

So far here is Haerin Strongarm the wild dwarf.

Okay add him to the Character Sheet thread.
ALSO, just so you know, the Wild Dwarf is going to possibly give you some problems.
a wild Dwarf in my world, is akin to the crazy hermit, or tarzan. Or Robin Williams in JUMANJI after he returned.
You, in a city, will definitely cause reaction adjustments and you will has penalties to int and wis based prof rolls, due to not being comfrotable in "CIVIL" lands.
you are Opposite of an Agoraphobic.

Just don't want you questioning why i'm "picking on you" when i give you penalties.

Also, Wild Dwarves are mainly hill dwarves gone FERAL. they live on the surface in thick ancient forests.
There are a few rare Wild dwarves that call caves and the Deepdark home, but when they hit the surface, they're worse off than a drow in the desert on day one.

Which one are you? wild dwarf (forest) or wild dwarf (Deepdark)

just forewarning you.

Hummm well I did not know that I just picked Wild dwarf for the con and str adjustments...... maybe I will rethink that then and adjust my stats again for perhaps a hill dwarf.

trying to decide what to make. I want my charcater to be useful for the group.

My 1st two thoughts were

Human Fighter - Blacksmith who has put away the anvil for alife of adventure.

Half-(elf or orc) Fighter/thief - An adventurer, historian, purcurer or ancient artifacts (think Indianna Jones)

Right now if you look in the character sheets thread we only have a fighter/cleric and a thief so I'd say either one is still useful wolfpack. 8-)

are we using non weapon proficiencies? and if we are do you do the extra prof slot equal to the number of extra languages from int?

I ask so I will know what to select to match my character background.

also what about the fighitng syles like two weapon and sword and shield styles form the fighters handbook.
