While paralyzed, Fingal ponders all of his poor life decisions that led him to this point.

Niles will attack the remaining fly as well.

Boddin the hobbit darts at the remaining assassin bug, his short sword piercing the lower abdomen of the creature. Niles the fighter takes a mighty hack at its flank side, cutting a whole wing off. The bug is dead but Foracor's sword slices for extra measure. The three adventurers circle back-to-back, half expecting another attack, but the forest seems calm.

Albertus, looking crestfallen, returns from the woods without Selandra.

The paralysis fades after five minutes. Fingal feels an unusual warmth around his wound, where the assassin bug stuck its lower body proboscis. The party confers and seems in agreement that that bug died by itself after sticking Fingal.

How much are we assumed/allowed to know about these things? You called the assassin bugs by name, so I know what happened to Fingal. Does Boddin also have that knowledge?

Boddin may suspect something, based on observation, the clue of warmth, the bug dying afterwards, and future indicators.

***Albertus, Cleric, Road to Keep***

"OMG...what the heck were those beast." Walking toward the others, in the road, he lowers his head. "It seems like our female companion had other plans or the creatures took her and flew away with their prize. I am sorry, but I looked and could find not a sign of her." Raising his head up and looking back into the woods, "it is like she was here one moment and gone the next."Rubbing his eyes, as if to hold off tears he lowers his voice. "I failed her. I was to protect her and I fail..."

"I don't want to alarm anyone unnecessarily, but I do believe that we may soon have a problem," Boddin says. "That bug stuck its...something...in Fingal then died, and now Fingle's midsection is strangely warm. I am no expert on these matters, but I have heard tales, and I fear that the bug injected its eggs into Fingal. If I am correct, I would suggest that it might be best if we find a way to destroy or neutralize the eggs before they hatch."

***Albertus, Cleric, Road to Keep***

"I agree with Boddin. If Fingal has something inside him than we best head to the Keep. Least there he can find the medical attention that he needs." Pointing westward..."let's go."

Fingal, Thief

Depressed at the lack of wealth, Fingal consents to return to the keep and recuperate. Gold and jewels can't be enjoyed when one is dead. "You think if I drank a wineskin it'd kill off what is in me? I don't want to be eat by bugs!"

"Aye, let's to the Keep."

The party agrees to move on post-haste for the Keep in light of Fingal's suspected condition. It is a scant few hours till dusk, after which camp would be established. You will arrive at the Keep the next night, unless you march through tonight.

After about an hour of travel you come upon this sight:



"And what be you?" asks a demented looking old gnome from his tree, smiling a scraggly tooth smile.

"Greetings, scaggly-toothed gnome! My name is Boddin Sanderbatch! Of the south shire Sanderbatches! Pleased to make your acquaintance! What is your name, good sir?"

***Albertus, Cleric, Old Tree***

Albertus, eyes up the sight. Looking in and around the tree for any creatures that may attack. Keeping his distance about 10 yards from the tree at all times.

ooc...So how many characters are in our group now? Kind of lost count. Do we have any NPCs still with us also?

to the party, "do we have time to deal with this guy? We need to get back to the Keep for Fingal."

"Maybe this old man has a cure for what sickens our friend. Least give ask if he could help us. He must have knowledge of all sorts of plants and herbs that might cure of Thief friend."

Fingal, Thief

Fingal stays to the back and out of the way. He attempts to remain out of sight, wanting to discern if this gnome is friend or foe before revealing himself.

***Albertus, Cleric, TreeHouse of Fun***

Noticing the others are staying back from the old man and his tree house, Albertus walks right up to him and talks to him in a gentle, very soft whisper.

[Grognardsw]

"I be Kane McSnoogles," says the little gnome. "My friends call me Snoogs."

The gnome listens to Albertus, then looks at the cleric with a momentary... shocked look on his face? He backs away a step, looks at the party, back to the cleric, then smiles and nods his head.

"Tired you look," says the gnome to the group. "And darkness descends. Partake of drink and food, and to your bodies give rest."

He motions for the party to join him in his tree.

Boddin looks about the gnome and the rest of the party, befuddled that his polite greeting was ignored.

"Well, now. I am normally happy to partake of food and drink, but we really need to get our friend here to town as soon as we can!"
