Going back with his arrow, Uthæs is surprised by the whole scene with the chest. After hearing the muffled noise, he believes his keen elven ears somehow understood what was said. "The chief. The chief should have the key." Promptly enough, he goes on and searches the dead goblin chief's clothes.

Apart from the battle axe he was wielding, and a belt pouch with 180 silver pieces, Uthæs does find a small key upon searching the body of the goblin chieftain.
Within moments he verifies the key will probably fit and open the lock on the chest.

Bodkin

"Go on and open it up, I am ready in case we get attacked."

Bodkin stands ready, just in case.

Jůnger

Still being wounded Jůnger will stay back on very slim chance that a goblin is inside.

Uthæs nods at Bodkin and wastes not time in using the key to open the chest.

From inside the chest immediately jumps a small halfling - he has short, straight, brown hair and green eyes. His skin is pale, and he is showing some bruising on his face.

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" - he looks around at you all talking rapidly, and then at the dead goblins lying all around - "You are... Rescuing me, yes?" - he offered with a sheepish grin.

Hreigă of Căléd

Hreigă arches a dark brow at the unexpected appearance of the halfling, "It seemed the Chief liked to pack box lunches. Good day sir, I am Hreigă and would be most interested in hearing the tale of what happened here."

Jůnger

With all the attention on the halfling, he focuses on looking for one or more goblins returning.

Jůnger says to the group but no one in particular, "Goblins are easily startled but they will return in greater numbers, we should move along."

Smiling at the diminutive halfling's behavior, Uthæs can't help to look at the interior of the chest to check if there are other items of interest in it.

"Well met Sirs and Ladies" - the halfling stammers - "I do indeed have a name yes yes - I am Dopkin" - he bows low with a flourish - "At your service!"

He turns a sad look at the fallen dwarf - "This here was Rark... We were traveling together - he had some delivery for The Bleak Tower, and I also needed an escort since I am going there myself" - Dopkin explained - "He tried to protect me, but there were just too many goblins..."

Uthæs pokes around the scene and the chest, and realizes probably the contents were emptied so the goblins could stick poor Mr. Dopkin inside. Around the scene, apart from the several sacks of damp barley and the bolt of fine silk, you can gather several weapons and scattered coins - eight spears and daggers, the chieftain's battle axe, plus a total of 234 silver pieces.

(Gentle DM reminder - there are still two goblins fast asleep and one prisoner ;) )

Bodkin

Bodkin will finish off the 2 sleeping goblins.

"We best get moving again and see if we can make the Bleak Tower before nightfall. Lets salvage what we can, the silk, weapons, and silver. Anything else worth carrying?"

As soon as Bodkin executes the first goblin, the captive one begins to squirm, whimpering, pleading, and trying to get on his feet!

Talesian, warrior

Talesian hefts the leader’s battle axe and cuts off the heads of four goblins. She sticks each head on the end of a spear, than sticks them in the ground around the area. “As a warning to other goblin scum.”

The warrior takes a couple of spears and her share of the coin.

Jůnger

"Six of us in the goblin fight, 234 sp divided by 6 is 39 each. I will volunteer to carry the bolt of fine silk as party treasure."

Silk and 39 sp added to sheet.

Uthæs gives a hard look at Bodkin, but says nothing. He pockets his coins, shows that he is uninterested by the goblin's weapons and makes himself ready to move on.

That fine silk will make a nice dress for when I’m not adventuring,” says Talesian sarcastically to Junger.
Dopkin… turns a sad look at the fallen dwarf - "This here was Rark... We were traveling together - he had some delivery for The Bleak Tower, and I also needed an escort since I am going there myself" - Dopkin explained - "He tried to protect me, but there were just too many goblins..."
She turns to Dopkin: “Rark was delivering this chest to the Bleak Tower? From who, and to whom? What business do you have there yourself?”

What do the PCs know of the Bleak Tower?

Talesian smiles as she watches the diminutive halfling Bodkin carry six spears taller than him, eight daggers and a battle axe.

Hreigă of Căléd

"And why exactly were you headed for Bleak Tower Master Dopkin?" she asks genuinely interested. She eyed the silk and thought yes that would make a most fine dress, not opposed to such things herself, but the coin it would bring would be even finer. She puts her share of the coins in her pockets of her frock. She pats the goblin on the shoulders when she sees his reaction to the slaughter of his sleeping companions. Not that it mattered to her as they would have been fine doing the same to her if they had the chance. But nonetheless, she consoled the goblin prisoner in what she hoped was a maternal manner, or a reasonably close facsimile of such. "What will we do with this one?," she says to whoever listens. "He's been truthful and helpful in his way, so I suggest letting him so. He will only slow us down and since he doesn't speak our tongue, he has no knowledge of our intentions," she glances at the others inquisitively.
