Awakening: Bingket Uzonqun

#1 Post by TheMyth »

This thread is only for Bingkit Uzonqun .

Bingkit Uzonqun awoke reclining in a chair in an all white room. The walls were panelled and the light diffuse, coming from above but with no single source of the illumination. Bingkit looked around the room, trying to assess the situation at hand.

The room had two points of note: a simple unadorned table near the reclining chair upon which Bingkit lies. The chair reminded Bingkit of an examination chair, but it was slightly more comfortable.

Bingkit looked around the simple room and tried to recall the last thing he could remember. He was a scientist working for the Torchwood Institute on Earth, but he was really a Vinvocci operative trying to recover alien tech before stupid humans abused it and killed themselves.

The Earth had just been attacked by Cybermen, then Daleks, and then an alien gang held the world hostage by suborning their children. Bingkit had tried to notify the Shadow Proclamation of this breach of conduct, but the signal was blocked. And then the stupid Earthlings tried to destroy Torchwood for some reason!

Bingkit was in hiding when...something happened! Was it a rush of wind? He's here now, in this room - this EXAM room - and his Shimmer was not activated.

Bingkit Uzonqun starts looking to see if his Shimmer is even still on him, and if so why it isn't active. If he doesn't immediately find it he starts looking around this strange exam room for it. "Where is it?" he says in his frantic search and slight panic.

Bingkit finds the Shimmer amongst his possessions, which calms him profusely. He activates the device, and is immediately cloaked as an Earthling.

Now, about this room....

Bingkit calms down.... deep breaths.... gathering his wits he explores the room looking for any hidden cameras or listening devices. Then focuses on the doors or door. Making sure the rest of his possessions are on his being before doing much else he tests any doors to see if they are locked or not.

There are no visible doors

To find a hidden door, there are two methods:

Using normal senses : roll Awareness + Subterfugr + 2d6

Using your smarts and tools: roll Ingenuity + Subterfuge + 2d6

Either way, tell me how Bingkit is acting to do his search. Literally, what is he doing?

Bingkit
searches for hidden doors first by feeling around and just generally tapping on the walls and looking for a seam anywhere.
Searching for Hidden Doors Using normal senses :[2d6+5]=5+5=10
then he breaks out his tools and tries using them in a similar manner to see what he can uncover.
Search for Hidden Doors Using your smarts and tools:[2d6+6]=7+6=13

"This room is impossible... how would I get in here with no doors....oh wait. Maybe..." he trails off thinking teleportation maybe?

When feeling with his hands, Bingkit finds grooves between all the panels, but when he breaks out his multispanner...that's when he finds the door!

And the door opens with a *whoosh*!

As he peeks outside, Bingkit sees a corridor running alongside the room. He looks both left and right but sees only a long, empty corridor with the same plain white panelling and diffuse overhead light.

Bingkit "Ben" steps out into the hallway after putting his tools away, and goes to the right as he goes though he applies the same searching techniques to see if perhaps there aren't more secret doors out here leading to other rooms.

Bingkit finds nothing. He also realizes that if he keeps using this method, he will never leave this hallway.

Bingkit "Ben" shrugs sighs and just keeps going down the hallway to the right.

Just walking? Or is he still using his hands and/or devices to look for doors?

just walking the hint indicated that this was going to waste a lot of time so he gave up and is walking away not looking for doors anymore.

Okey-dokey.

Bingkit starts walking down the hallway to the right. After about 50 meters, he encounters a T intersection.

Left? Right? Any other ideas?

Bingkit pulls out his tools again and tries using them to see if they can give him some sort of sense as to a way out of this human-sized rat maze. no idea what the tools do like the multispanner, is this at all similar to what the sonic screwdriver does for the doctor?

The multispanner is just a hi-tech tool, not the Doctor's magic wand. Think of it as a fancier IKEA wrench. 8-)

Bingkit pulls out his tool kit and wonders if anything will help extricate him from this predicament. Then he hears a whirring sound from his left....

Approaching from down the hall is a robot. About 2 metres high, with 2 grasping claws, the machine is moving quickly upon a gravity ball as its form of locomotion. The automaton speaks:

'SPECIMEN -- HAS -- BREACHED -- CONTAINMENT. -- RE-CAPTURE. -- RE-CAPTURE. -- RE-CAPTURE.'

What will Bingkit do?

Bingkit puts his tools away and draws his stun gun thinking perhaps it will still do something to this robot. Taking aim he shoots at the robot when it is in range. "I am no specimen I am human see." he says calmly as the thing approaches doubtful this tactic will convince the robot, he figures if it stalls the thing it gives him more time to shot it.

Shooting a gun requires Coordination + Marksman +2d6. If he waits until the robot is less than 5 metres away, there is no modifier for range. Between 5m and 10m, the shot is at -2.

With a high-pitched *vreet* the stunner's sonic ray sounds through the hallway. The robot halts, and its limbs fall limply to its side.

Bingkit has no idea how long this will last. A few minutes, at least.

Bingkit wasting no time will rush past the disabled robot before it reactivates. "Sure glad that worked." he says to himself as he moves down the hallway past the robot going the direction it came from.
