Re: Trial Run
The Bandit is size 0 (normal human) so looking at the wound chart on page 179...onlyme wrote: Ahh.. the 19-10=9 attack advantage plus the 11 = 20 ?
Light Wound = 1-5
Medium Wound = 6-10
Heavy Wound = 11-15
Incapacitating = 16-20
Death = 21+
Damage of 20 nearly kills the bandit outright, but results in an incapacitating wound. He's down!
Would you like to continue or move on to a trial of the magic system in combat?

I assume the soak changes based on previous damage? ie if it was a 15 and a heavy wound, the next round if the same numbers were rolled, would it be a 20 or higher?
And yes, we can move on...

Re: Trial Run
The amount of damage is already influenced by the current wounds trough the defense roll. So I think it should not effect soak.
The only thing (as far as I know) thats not influenced by the wound penalty is the wound recovery roll.

Re: Trial Run
That is correct. The more wounds you take the more penalties accumulate and they drag your defense roll down. As that defense roll drops your enemy is able to exceeded it by larger and larger amounts, effectively increasing the damage done.Rodriguez wrote:The amount of damage is already influenced by the current wounds trough the defense roll. So to answer your question David no the wound penalties do not affect the soak they only effect die rolls. Except (as Rodriguez mentioned) the wound recovery roll, which is not part of combat.
Re: Trial Run

Re: Trial Run
Very good I'll prepare something simple tonight.
We will use the same 3 grogs and add 3 magi to the mix. I will control the grogs for speed sake, and you can each focus on a magi.
If you don't have a completed magi then you can use one from the book...or we could just fill in the incomplete parts as we go along. The latter might offer the maximum education on character building, but the former would be fastest.
Thoughts?

Re: Trial Run
I would need a premade one to see how the "other" stuff works before I build mine.

Re: Trial Run
I just need to finish up Vlricus and I'll be good to go. Should be able to do that tonight. Gotta pick some spells, etc.
The main lesson I took away from the grog combat (that I didn't get a chance to take part in) is that you have to somewhat min/max when building your character. I tried to purposefully make my Blacksmith's assistant a slow, lumbering guy (Qik -3) who wasn't super "professional" (no shield, leather armor) ...and he got his pantaloons handed to him before he could even make a move... Does that sound accurate?

I disagree on the min/max part...ChubbyPixie wrote: The main lesson I took away from the grog combat (that I didn't get a chance to take part in) is that you have to somewhat min/max when building your character. If one is slow, ill equipped, not much better in combat then the opponents and on the smaller team you need to be damn lucky to make it trough a fight in one piece. I think thats not an unreasonable outcome that would call for minmaxing.

I think I just need to pick some spells for my magi.

No worries, my rl is kicking my tail as well. Especially for this game, which requires me to read and research, rather than just roll a d20...Bhart wrote:Real life is intruding on my game time again. I'll do my best to have something together asap. Thanks for the patience guys.
