The party descends the stairs. Brondlum leads them down one flight heading east to a landing. Then the stairs turn north to another landing. And finally, a last flight leads wezt to a corridor.
Down the corridor is a door about 20' away. But, at te bottom of the stairs, is another 20' corridor leading to a door.

I will check the one in the west first and then swing down to the south.
moving to the door straight ahead of the bottom of the steps (to the west I believe) and listens for any noises and checks for any traps.
Hopefully his ears are better than his eyes:

The pair move to the southern hallway and door, but a Giant Beetle drops from the ceiling!

Gromp tied close his sack with 50 silver pieces; the five pound weight so negligible the dwarf hardly felt it.
He responded gruffly to Lia and Brondulm: “Sure we’ll get back here. Probably told myself something like that before falling into the pit.”
He stared down at the dead halfling. Of what he could remember, Gromp knew the Spooner woman hired him and two others to find a book. Could this halfling be his companion?
We searched the body right?

Myrrh attacks the beetle. "Drop back if need be."
Vowbound Sword [1d20+1]=9+1=10 to hit [1d8+1]=3+1=4 damage

Collects himself after the initial shock of the beetle dropping from the ceiling. Using the magical short sword and lefty to carve up the oversized insect.
Short Sword to hit: [1d20+2]=16+2=18; damage [1d6+2]=5+2=7
Lefty to hit [1d20-2]=18-2=16; damage [1d4+1]=3+1=4

Gromp and Myrr both attempt to slice the big bug, but both blows are deflectedby the creature's rigid shell.
But Brondulm, with alacritous aplomb, pierces the creature in its sensitive spots, causing it to collapse as ichor oozes from the deadly wounds!
Combat ended.
After pushing the corpse aside, Brondulm checks the southern door, finding no obvious danger
