Faron just smells death...but also hears no movement inside.

He flips the lid open, exposing a corpse. The corpse does not rise.

Myrrh will examine the corpse and inside the casket. Any items, secret compartments, what is under the casket etc.

Nothing is found other than the rotting corpse.

With Myrrh opening and searching by himself - and everyone else standing around watching him do all the work - this task takes 30 minutes. And is ultimately fruitless. Each casket holds nothing but a rotting corpse dressed in rags.

But....in that time, a monster wanders in: 4 Giant Rats get the drop on the group!

Surprise? PCs are surprised!

PCs d6= [1d6]=2, Enemy d6= [1d6]=5

A rat attacks Brinna, another Vali, a third Cinders, and the last...Gromp!

The rat attacking Brinna snaps and misses.

Basic Attack Roll [1d20]=5

The rat attacking Vali snaps, but the little gnome dodges!

Basic Attack Roll [1d20]=6

A rat catches the agile Cinders and nips her thigh! (total damage now 6)

Basic Attack Roll [1d20]=17

eyes wild, spittle flying, mouth smiling, ass farting.swinging his sword and dagger at the rat.

Both Ellith and Faron whirled around, attacking the rats. Noticing Cinder's wounds, they focus on those attacking her.

Moves to engage the Rat attacking Vali (he has a soft spot for the ugly gnome) and slashes it with short Sword but missing his stab with Lefty:

Short Sword to hit: [1d20+2]=11+2=13; damage [1d6+2]=2+2=4

Lefty to hit [1d20-2]=6-2=4; damage [1d4+1]=4+1=5

Myrrh stabs and kills a rat.

Lia swings and misses.

Gromp roars, spittle flying, his blades missing as a rat skitters from his reach. (It seems to snicker at him!)

Ellith skewers a second rat, but Faron snaps air as a rat dodges his bite.

Brondulm slays a third rat with his blades.

Cinders misses her target. Scimitar [1d20+4]=4+4=8 Damage [1d6+1]=4+1=5

Brinna's swordthrust also misses the skittering target. Sword [1d20+1]=9+1=10 Damage [1d8+1]=6+1=7

But little Vali stabs the fourth rat with his dagger, slaying the beast! Dagger [1d20+1]=15+1=16 Damage [1d4+1]=2+1=3

Combat Ended.

Vali kicks the dead rat into the room. "Put the foul beastie into that room and shut the door! he spits. "We have other doors to open!"

To the Western Door? Roll d6 to open! :mrgreen:
