I am in. No idea yet what I will make. I may play off of others ideas or see if inspiration strikes.

Re: OOC Out of Character Chat
Most likely I'll make an alien of some sort. Been reading the Douglas Adams hitchhiker series lately so I'm kind of inspired in zany way.

One big suggestion is a biped!GreyWolfVT wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 4:10 am Most likely I'll make an alien of some sort. Been reading the Douglas Adams hitchhiker series lately so I'm kind of inspired in zany way.
Or something with the ability (innate or device) to become a biped!
Re: OOC Out of Character Chat
Yes and no. The main rules do not, but I think one of the supplements does. The main rules are more do-it-yourself.
What are you thinking?

of those, these seem the most likely choices :
Catkind, Groske, Mavellan, Peladonian, Swampie, Thal, Tharil

in the 13th ( maybe 12th ) there was a canine species, but i forget their name

Oh, and there is of course the obvious:
Time Lord!

Catkind is VERY appropriate.cybersavant wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 5:34 am of those, these seem the most likely choices :

Graske...I'd need to research to help build it.
Movellan....would be interesting. Robots!
Peladonian would basically be human.
Swampies are tech-averse. And xenophobic. A PC could be from the species' future after meeting the Doctor & Romana.
Thals...the Daleks supposedly succeeded in wiping them out. A PC could come from before that happened. Or be "Last of the Kind."
Tharils are supposedly confined to e-space and the place in-between. A good timelord-substitute.
Lupari are the dog protectors from the Flux storyline. Again, not much on them.
Of course, there is always the option to go outside the show for inspiration. Or make something up
Re: OOC Out of Character Chat
Okay, the supplement All the Strange, Strange Creatures has point-buy packages for several aliens:
Tree of Cheem
Ood
Draconian
Saturnynian (fish person)
Silent
Tharil
Silurian
Sontaran
Zygon
Catkind are minimally detailed in a supplement (we can flesh them out more...maybe blend them with Star Trek's Caitians)
Thals are described as "mostly human"...we could make a PC Thal into a mutant of some kind. If the Daleks mutated, why not the other survivors from Skarro?

Zaphod Beeblebrox is a biped Though not sure how to make a Betelgeusian in the Who Universe.TheMyth wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 4:22 amOne big suggestion is a biped!GreyWolfVT wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 4:10 am Most likely I'll make an alien of some sort. Though from the Who Universe I did like Bannakaffalatta the Zocci. Granted Vinvocci "are different" but I wouldn't mind being either one.

Very little about the Vinvocci, and even less about the Zocci!GreyWolfVT wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 2:25 pmZaphod Beeblebrox is a biped Though not sure how to make a Betelgeusian in the Who Universe.TheMyth wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 4:22 amOne big suggestion is a biped!GreyWolfVT wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 4:10 am Most likely I'll make an alien of some sort. Oh goodness @ Betegeusean multiple heads and arms! (Technically doable in the rules, I think.)
But reading about the Vinvocci gave me a good example of what we could do with next to nothing:
The Vinvocci begin with:
Alien (costs 2 cp) but they have an Alien Appearance (+2 cp).
In their write up, Rossiter & Addams also have Ingenuity5, Technically Adept, Cowardly, Unadventurous, and The Shimmer (a gadget).
In the story, Vinvocci are from a very advanced tech society (created Immortality Gate for medicinal purposes), and are insulted when called "cacti."
From this, we spin from whole cloth:
Are they plants or animals? Or both?
Meglos was also a cactus! Related maybe?
Are all Vinvocci immortal? (Long-lived Immortlity is a potential Alien Trait).
If they are, then they could gain the Experienced Trait. And Time Traveller (for access to other Tech Levels).
The entry on the Trees of Cheem mentions some potential adaptations for gaming with plant aliens. Some might be useful here!
There are other plant-based scifi tv aliens: the Delvians of Farscape! Can we steal anything from there? Or the Elves of Runequest? They're plants too!
Just throwing this out there...
Of course, you might just want to start simple.

Any of them. I'll post the intro packages for all 3.cybersavant wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 7:24 am ok, Tharil, Catkind or Movellan. Whatever is easy to work up stats for
The Movellans were only in the one story, so they can be customized.
For anyone else: just make a request, and I will post a starting package.

Re: OOC Out of Character Chat
What was the tree alien from The End of The World episode that was a tree? I can't remember what the alien race was called and googling isn't coming up with much yet. That would be another example of a plant alien.

"Nice liana!"
Edit to add: posted an edited version to "Character Packages" thread.

Maverick added ahead of schedule.
Basically, the character hates authority. If given an order by an authority figure, the character MUST find a way to defy it, or else sacrifice a Story Point.
