Kota shakes his face and massage's his nose which seemed to be longer and beaklike a moment ago, squinting his eyes he looks at the troops and the Germans.

"It is the specialized troops the 155's should hit, without them their chance to gain the wall drops. he says to himself.

Koda advances to the line staying undercover and looks for a good 3 sided defendable position that he will modify with his small shovel.

Phil will remain (relatively) close to his squadmates, finding the best cover he can.

Approximately 3:35 PM; 28 February, 1944; just south of Borgo Sabatino a.k.a. 'Gusville', Italy

Chisholm led his Talent Team towards the enemy assault formation and each moved to take what little cover was available as Heilman's troops did the same thing and a moment later, the three mortars began their 'thoomp, thoomp' sounds as rounds were lobbed towards the Germans.....

Reacting quickly, the two screening German Platoons moved to make a rapid counterattack in their direction and the barking of weapons fire grew louder and louder as the battle was joined....

SST 11 found a pair of squads (about 20 troops) rushing towards them, with Rifle shots whizzing by and noticing a quartet of troops drop down and begin to set up a pair of MG 42s to open up on them from about 100 yards out*.....

*Okay, so about 15 or so troops are rushing forwards this round from 100 to about 75 yards while 4 more; 2 gunners and 2 loaders; are dropping prone and using bipod equipped MGs to start firing on all of you from 100 yards out.....the rest of Heilman's troops are fighting the other Germans....

Chisholm

Chisholm activates his Hyper Dex and then tries to lay some cover fire on the closest group of Germans with his Tommy gun.

Using enough will to make sure he activates his talent.

Sgt. Nado tries to call down a bolt of lightning among the machine gunners, in hopes of giving the Germans an idea what "blitzkrieg" really means...

Waiting to see the effects of his teammates efforts against the machine gun crews, Luke drops to the ground and fires at the same targets.

Approximately 3:40 PM; 28 February, 1944; just south of Borgo Sabatino a.k.a. 'Gusville', Italy

As the 20 or so German troops made their attack, the half dozen members of SST 11 'opened the ball' with a combination of rifle fire and Talent Powers.....

First, LT Chisholm activated his Hyper Dexterity ability, causing his form to appear to move in a blue and he raised his Thompson SMG to his shoulder and fired a 5 round burst and riddled a charging German Rifleman some 75 yards away with phenomenal accuracy from a weapon not exactly noted for it....

Nearby, SGT Nado activated his weather control Talent Power and a gray cloud formed over a pair of Germans setting up an MG 42 MG and a lightning bolt came sizzling down and slammed into the ground RIGHT NEXT to the gunner, causing him to jump in nervousness while at the same time the NCO from the Ozarks seethed in annoyance at having missed his target*.....

CPL Luke Goodfox took aim with his M1 Garand and he put a heavy .30-06 round through the chest of the other German gunner setting up an MG 42, dropping him face first to the ground with an arm still slung over his weapon. His loader shoved him to the side and moved to get behind the weapon though as Luke watched through the rifle's 'peep hole' sights.....

CPL Phillipe 'Phil' Heuron cut loose a blast of icy shards at the MG pair who had JUST been missed by a Lightning Blast a moment ago. This time, the Talent Power attack did NOT miss and the loader was turned into a frozen, bloody mess, while the gunner was screaming from the pain, but still alive....

SGT Koda took aim at the loader who had shoved the dead gunner aside and he fired his Garand and hit the determined German, wounding him, but not taking him out of the fight permanently....

TSGT Battaglia activated his Blaster Talent Power and a beam of light burned out and through the loader; finishing him off for good this time....

A moment later, a smattering of Rifle Fire from the still charging 14 or so German soldiers came buzzing past most of the members of SST 11, narrowly missing Koda and Nado, while Chisholm and Goodfox saw clumps of earth fly up from shots that were somewhat close, but not near misses like their teammates had just experienced. The German troops were rapidly moving to some 50 yards away and a couple of them had MP 40 SMGs that would soon be in range.....

Phil found himself dropping to the ground in a subconscious choice as the MG 42 manned by the half-frozen gunner suddenly sent a burst of rounds buzz-sawing just over his head and all around him....

OOC: Okay, the situation is this; 14 Germans (2 with MP 40 SMGs, 12 with KAR 98 rifles) are at about 50 yards and closing fast.....there is one Wounded MG 42 Gunner left alive at 100 yards out....

*Sorry Zhymn, I rolled terribly on your PER/Search attack roll for the Lightning Bolt....I got a 9 on 5 dice...sorry! You have several more rounds to try that again or make it rainy or foggy, etc., etc.

Approximately 3:45 PM; 28 February, 1944; just south of Borgo Sabatino a.k.a. 'Gusville', Italy

As the members of SST 11 continued to engage their group of Germans in the larger fight, they all became aware of the 'freight train' sound of incoming Artillery; though this time it was that of their own side's 155mm battery as the first flight of rounds whistled over head to come slamming down with explosive force in the group of German assault troops carrying ladders as they attempted to go 'up and over' the Canal....

LT Chisholm, still moving in a literal blur as his Talent Power remained active, cut loose a 5 round burst as a German NCO armed with an MP 40 SMG and he dropped the soldier into an unmoving bloody ball on the ground....

SGT Koda kept his aim on the half-frozen, determined German MG crewman and he fired his M1 Garand a brief half-second before the Heer trooper fired a burst from the MG 42. His .30-06 slug slammed into the German and finished him off, causing the deceased solider's trigger finger to convulse on the weapon and send a burst of 7.92mm rounds sailing just a couple of feet above the Canadian 1st Nations NCO's head....

SGT Tom Nado shifted his attention to the German soldiers rushing his way and he directed a Lightning Bolt down from the heavens and this time the rural trooper from the Ozarks smiled in savage glee as his bolt of electricity fried a German solider, dropping the smoking remains of the Rifleman to the ground, never to rise again. A moment later, his smile vanished as a round fired from another German solider's KAR 98 bolt-action rifle pinged off his helmet and left his ears ringing, but his head fully intact (OOC: I missed you by ONE....good luck to go with last round's bad, I guess!)

CPL Luther 'Luke' Goodfox sighted down his M1 Garand and ignored an incoming German shot that missed him by mere inches as a divot suddenly appeared in the ground right next to him and he fired his weapon, feeling it buck back into his solider and he was pleased to see his round hit the German officer or NCO wielding an MP 40 in the middle and the man fell to one knee, his shots going into the ground a few feet ahead of him....however, he staggered back to his feet again....still in the fight....

CPL Phil Heuron sent a wave of deadly icy shards out into a pair of charging German Riflemen, savagely happy to see the pair of them get taken out for good. A moment later though, he was on the ground, his left shin on fire and he realized another German trooper had managed to hit him with a shot from his KAR 98 rifle*....

TSGT Mark/Mike Battaglia fired his M1 at a German trooper, cursing when his shot just missed and then he ducked and instinctively brought up his Talent Power Force Field as a pair of shots came firing back towards him. One missed entirely while the other was deflected off of the 'bubble of energy' that now protected him....

There were 10 surviving German troops, one wounded Officer or NCO with an MP 40 who had just staggered back to his feet and 9 Riflemen, all of whom had charged to within 25 yards or so and 8 of whom had fired back at the various members of SST 11 with mixed results and one who slung his Rifle and armed and threw a 'potato masher' grenade towards the Talents. It wasn't a great toss, but it landed in between LT Chisholm and CPL Goodfox and exploded with a brief flash of light and thunderclap of noise. Fragments blew into Chisholm's back and left leg, knocking him to the ground and causing him to howl in pain as the left side of his flank was suddenly on fire. Luke was better shield and only a couple of small fragments grazed across the top of his exposed right hand and forearm, causing a brief stinging sensation and the icky feeling of blood dripping down in between his fingers**....

OOC: Okay, the situation is now this: All MG crew have been dealt with.....there are 10 Germans about 25 yards away; 9 Riflemen and 1 Officer/NCO with an MP 40 who is Wounded.

Phil was wounded by a Rifle shot and is at -1D to all actions until treated. Chisholm is Wounded (by the grenade blast) and is likewise at -1D until treated and Goodfox is Grazed....so next round only he's at -2 to all actions (not -2D, just -2).

Koda will lay his his weapon down in his trench and grab and throw a grenade at the advancing enemy on his position. He begins to sing in Inuit, basically a rap battle, but he is enhancing himself not expecting a return.

Luke debates caring for the wounded, but decides that helping eliminate the incoming danger would be the best help for them at this point. He takes aim at the officer or NCO, trying to take him out for good.

Approximately 3:50 PM; 28 February, 1944; just south of Borgo Sabatino a.k.a. 'Gusville', Italy

The members of SST 11 continued to fight the attacking Germans assaulting their position.....

CPL Luther 'Luke' Goodfox did his best to ignore the sting of the grazing wound he had just received and kept his M1 Garand's sights centered on the German NCO or Officer with the MP 40 and he let a breath go and stroked the trigger, feeling the but kick back into his shoulder and watching the German leader collapse to the ground, never to rise again....

CPL Phillippe 'Phil' Heuron cursed the pain of his wound, but kept his concentration on the enemy in front of him and with snowflakes billowing out all around him, he cut loose a blast of bluish-white frost and ice that cut down and froze a pair of charging German Riflemen....

SGT Tom Nado leveled his Johnson Light Machinegun and poured 10 powerful .30-06 rounds into a pair of German troops, not even noticing at the moment that one of them managed to get a shot off that literally knocked his helmet off his head, but luckily failed to penetrate. It was only afterwards that he felt the breeze on his now bare head that he realized what had happened and how close a call he had just had.....

LT Chisholm, continuing to move in a blur, fired a 5 round burst from his Thompson SMG, registered a 7.92mm rifle shot JUST missing him and then he fired another 5 round burst and in a split second, two German soldiers would never bother another Allied military member ever again....

SGT Koda, singing an old song from his people's history, pulled a grenade and armed it and let fly. His throw was perfect and it landed amongst a pair of German troopers and it exploded with enough force to blow them both off their feet. One would never rise again while the other lay on the ground, clutching wounds and howling in agony....

TSGT Mark/Mike Battaglia faced off against the last German trooper and though the latter fired first, his Talent Power that allowed him to create a Shield around himself caused the enemy round's trajectory to be altered and it didn't touch the one time Air Corps crewman. The German though had no such protection against Battaglia's return shot from his Garand and in a spin and collapse the last German solider dropped to the ground....

Suddenly the battlefield in their little sector was quiet.....

All of the Talents though felt a slight twinge/heard a slight sound/smelled a faint whiff of a new and unknown Talent Power....though to a MUCH lesser degree than anything they had ever experienced before.....almost like getting a single drop of rain.....and it seemed to be coming from the now smashed to pieces Engineer group, who had been broken from the 155mm Arty Strikes and were in full retreat from the field....
