Alle

I agree. Nothing behind us, so no surprises. She will use her staff to push the lids open enough for hands to pop out and not let whatever is in it.

Khawla begins examining the coffins, opening the undamaged ones first. In each she finds a body wrapped in burial cloth. Most of these bodies are old and decayed, having been interred here for many years. She also checks two of the damaged coffins, finding claw marks along the wood and the bodies defiled and pulled apart; bones and bits of scrap cloth lie along the floor closest to the rubble.
The last coffin she examines actually has dried, black blood on it. The body inside is torn and savaged by tooth and claw; clearly the work of flesh eaters...ghouls.
There are drops of blood in the rubble and tracks leading back into darkness. The hole smells of dank and rot.

Khawla

"It looks like the ghouls didn't come from the coffins, that is good news. Now we need to proceed." She leads the way further in.

Does anyone need light? I can cast it on something else if anyone wants it before we proceed.

Good point. Right now, Alle has light on her staff...right? Anyone else need a light source? Khawla and Gurkan are human, yes?

Khawla gingerly steps into the blackened hole in the wall, steps on some rocks and nearly falls. As she rights herself, she thinks she hears scuffling and growling somewhere off to her left...

Khawla

Khawla has a light spell going on her scimitar I think. If not she will cast it now.

Khawla makes sure her scimitar is still shedding light, and with Alle's staff, the trio can see fairly well leading into the rough tunnel behind the mausoleum. The natural tunnel looks to have been hollowed out ages ago by the high tides of the sea. This likely led to the weakening of the wall and with the smell of dead bodies...well, naturally that would attract anything that feeds upon them.
The trio follow the tunnel and as they do, the sounds of growling and snarling grow louder. Moving as quietly as they can, they approach a split in the tunnel, but their lights reveal a chamber on their right. Eyes glow red in the light as they happen upon two ghouls feeding and fighting over a rotted piece of meat. The ghouls hiss as the light shines upon them and prepare to attack!

Initiative and actions!

As the trio are exploring the tunnels in the mausoleum, Elwood and Tuga help escort the wounded guards to the Dawnflower...walking into a flurry of activity with acolytes running to and fro, some frantic, some crying, others pale-faced and sweating. Wondering what they have walked into, one of the acolytes finally notices them and says, "Oh! Oh my goodness! What happened?"

Gurkan hurls his light hammer at the closest ghoul with practiced aim, then bracing himself, he grips his bastard sword and holds right before the tunnel diverges. His hands firmly clasp the handle of his bastard sword, poised for the inevitable ghoul onslaught.

come on then

Alle fires off a Force Missile into the closest Ghoul. Don't let them touch you.

At the Library...

Tuga - "Magic flame of sone sort, i have done forat aide with what I had. They are guardsmen. Whats the problem here?"
Elwood -"Yeah, some goblin bugger blasted em with magical flames. We did what we could fer um but they still need healin aid."[/dialog] he explains. Then deciding to ask "What's goin' on ere?"

One of the young helpers pauses and says, "Vandy...erm, the High Priestess, went with an adventuring woman to the mausoleum and they were attacked by ghouls! Our High Priestess was severely wounded, and then the woman and two others just left to go back and investigate. Who are you?"

At the Mausoleum...

I need Initiative rolls for Alle and Khawla ;)
