I am Arthuro. I am, I was. A ranger by trade. For fifteen years I have not aged a day, living a 'Fey life', counting the Northern Greatwoods as my home and a Dryad as my wife. We saw the face of Silvanus carved among the ancient Oaks, dancing and loving among their roots. Happy we were but then Blight came and turned the forest against us. Even the Green Man turned his face. Ill-fated or cursed we became and I fled in hope of salvation and help."

The current view is that the Blight might be engineered by a Hag and nullifying her will either bring an end to the Blight spread or cause it to cease altogether.

The forest you arrive in looks on first glance as normal as other Greatwoods that characters have sojourned through. Tall spreading trees with thick trunks, verdant leafy canopies, outstretched to soak up the high sun whose rays filter softly upon the ground. Birdsong.

Amphoebe marks the Oak tree that you have used as a portal from one dimension to another. The group gather wits and gear, Dougal locates a trail leading off, the only discernible path.
He tries to sense if there is anything odd about his connection to his deity in this strange new realm.
Hake doesn't feel any disconnection, certainly the forest does not manifest the same 'static buzz' that maligned the sacred grove of the One Tree.

With choices seemingly set, the group can file along the path. The first hour of trekking passes without incident until the trail starts passing through an area of more gnarly, twisted trunks. The trunks covered in a rusty coloured fungus, like iron submerged and oxidizing. Several trunks look to have large bulbous burrs that have split open.

Many of the trees that should be in full bloom have already shed much of their leaves, the absence of greenery as stark as the silence of birdsong. An eerie feeling that from within the trees, eyes watch your approach.

Dougal and Conmhaol perhaps have the best senses and at their gesture and bark, the group can ready themselves as a number of large (hound-sized) creatures begin to emerge from the forest depths.

Dougal readies an arrow and commands Comnhaol to remain by his side.

If we start attacking now the Bless from Hake won't have any effect on those attacking, since it's in the same round, right?

You can have Hake Bless the group now as a whole and then you can take advantage of its melee features.

It has no effect on range or missile attacks.

Dalin readies his crossbow "Hmm what the heck are those things?" he mutters.

Jorly answers quietly “like this land, I have never seen it’s like…”. He remains still and alert while the magics of his comrades take their effect.

Dougal will hold his fire, we still don't know their intentions, as obvious as they may seem.

Into the Feywild

Blight Hounds vs Sleep: [1d4]=3

Moriartus invokes a defensive ward, forming a barrier of soporific pressure that seems to quell a few of the strange vine-root bodied creatures. Those affected wilt and droop to the floor becoming almost indiscernible against the bleak forest background. The rabid highlights of colour inset into hollowed sockets dim. Others though do not succumb and relentlessly advance from each side to surround the group, almost a dozen creatures that at first hesitate to close upon you, feeling instead ahead of them with vine like antenna or sniffing the ground, pawing at your boot prints with raking claws.

Hake invokes a blessing, determining that these creatures pose a threat and every advantage you can succour from the divine will be needed. Most have readied actions and once it comes clear that fight or flight are the only options, (unless any druids among you try to 'talk with plants). Amphoebe the dryad has not seen these before but the fetid decay of their bodies is not a natural or good sign.

Blighters: [1d20]=12 [1d20]=1 [1d20]=4 [1d20]=1

Ben & Jake, used to felling lumber advance at these 'twiglets', intending to cut them down to size. The creatures leap at the duo, rasping a croaking bark and flailing, slimy grubby root-limbs to grasp at them.

actions everyone please

Seeing these hounds more closely and realizing they are flora not fauna he digs out his potion of Plant Control and quickly swallows the liquid, hoping to communicate with them to stop their attack.

Dalin holds off attacking unsure if they are in danger or not still.

Dougal fires his arrows at the weird hounds.

Short Bow +1 - To hit: [1d20+2]=6+2=8; Dmg S/M/L: [1d6+1]=6+1=7
Short Bow +1 - To hit: [1d20+2]=8+2=10; Dmg S/M/L: [1d6+1]=2+1=3

I would hold my action since Moriartus has drunk a Speak with Plants potion, but given that Hell's already borken lose...
