Murdering Priests For Goodness Sake
Not A Great Middle

Trying very hard not to become overly upset about the cowardice of this sun priest, Tuurma tries some Berserker style diplomacy. She seems to hit a nerve as the man's voice sounds even more angry now. "What? You don't like fighting in the dark?" The voice and the girls whimpering can be heard coming from exactly where Tuurma thought the bastard was heading next.......right in front of Cormag's last seen position.

Moving to the very corner of the small, empty hovel, there is indeed a slim area where natural light is still present. If the spell was cast in the very center of the room, she might assume all four corners are still visible.

Sneaking up from the side, Tuurma tries a second strike. This time she is pretty sure she accidentally hits Cormag in the darkness, as the priest continues to snicker from directly behind his position. "I was hoping I wouldn't need to kill this one right away, but if you could swing just a little harder, you might be able to do the job yourself."

The girls whimpering sounds like its coming from the floor of the closet, while the priest stays mobile, seemingly using Cormag as a buffer zone to keep out of sword reach.

Tuurma gasps in shock when her blade connects with an upright, oddly rigid figure and she feels it bite into the outer layer of his Keltic armour. Though she paid little attention to "pulling your blow" in training, she does her best to do so now, jerking back the large sword as she recoils and then spins past Cormag toward the next adjacent corner of the room. As she gropes for another pocket of lighted space, the woman's mind reels with the thought of what could have just happened, then it fills with an unbidden scene from the past...

Helios high over the horizon, brightening a sandy arena... her focus on her sparring partner Euphemia... both young Amazons staining their leather vests and skirts with the sweat of practice. The shorter and more tanned girl equals Tuurma in speed, but might well outmatch her in cleverness... Phemia deflects a heavy blow from Tuurma's unsharpened broadsword, then feints causing Tuurma to commit her wooden shield out to the left, and lose her footing... Phemia deftly brings a stabbing riposte to Tuurma's exposed chest... The much paler girl feels the humiliation of the trick as sharply as she feels the rounded point of Phemia's blade... almost piercing the soft cuirass into her breast... and what should have been a teachable moment of shame, turns to anger... then quickly cascades into fury.
Tuurma's world goes red and she is heedless of the swordmistress's distant cry of "Point!..." Her first Berserker rage is now careening like a war galley into the rocks during a storm...
"Ai-ieee!" her next sight being the crimson blossom from an artery as Tuurma's sword, even though dulled for practice, chops deeply and savagely into the side of Euphemia's neck.
One promising Amazon felled much too early... and hence, banishment from Panderos for the other.

And what would Phemia do, if she were here? Tuurma takes a heartbeat to close her eyes and put the images away from her. The priest must be dealt with, and he is quite wily... on top of fulfilling every bit of his street reputation for being both a pervert and a sadist! Tuurma has begun to feel like a mouse in the paw of a cat, only this one could defeat her by reciting a single verse of prayer.

With a sudden thought, the warrior's pale left hand drops to the pouch at her belt, which hints at a hard cylindrical shape within. One of those unknown things she found with the group in the desert. Grasping her sword in the other hand, she draws out the small clay vial and thumbs the cork away from its neck. "Μαγεία για μαγεία (magic for magic)," Tuurma mutters in Hellenic, as she raises the potion to her lips.

Risky? Why yes...

As Tuurma moves about the dark room whacking away at her friend, she still can't see much, though she can hear perfectly. The servant girl suddenly starts to scream out loudly from her place on the closet floor. "HELP US!!! PLEASE HELP US!!!! CAN ANYONE HEAR ME??? WE NEED SOME HELP IN HERE!!! GUUUAAAAARDS!!!!!!!!!"

That noise quickly abates with a loud slap of skin on skin, causing the girls shouts to become a whimper. Cormag can hear this all happening directly behind him, making his inability to move even more painful.

Tuurma reluctantly reaches into her pouch for the magical potion she had stored there a while back. Though the Berzerker is loath to do so, she pops off the tiny bottles lid and pours half of the scarlet colored fluid into her mouth. Though it has the smell and taste of cinnamon, the heat caused by this strange elixir is almost too much for the normally strong woman to handle. Tuurma almost swallows the liquid when she feels it growing even hotter inside her mouth, but she wonders what kind of damage that might do to her insides.

Unsure what to do with this half a mouth full of hot fluid, getting hotter by the second, this just proves to the fighting woman how stupid and dangerous magic can be.

Eyes wide at the strange feeling of burning-hot liquid in her mouth, Tuurma dashes back into the globe of darkness, making a beeline for where she heard that sharp hand-slap. The vial still in her left hand, her right holds the four-foot sword loosely as a prod to feel ahead, in case poor Cormag is again somehow between herself and Jak'n.

Once she's reasonably sure it's the priest in front of her, she keeps the gob of fluid in her mouth and breathes out right where she thinks his head would be.

If that does nothing, she then spews out the entire contents of her mouth over him!

Not sure what to roll, if anything.

Let me have a d20 check against her Wisdom, along with a Test of Dexterity.

This should be good.

Will do. Are we using 1d20 for mental attribute checks generally? I had [3d6]'s in my macros from the previous game.

Tuurma the Ashen

Attribute check [1d20] = 3 vs. WS 13

Test of ST/DX/CN [1d6] = 4 success on 1-3

... Yes, this should be good.

Not sure. Maybe just roll what I ask for?

Murdering Priests For Goodness Sake
Not Going Great

Breathing the hot fluid in the direction she thinks the priest is standing turns out to work in Tuurma's favor, at least momentarily. Luckily it isn't aimed directly at Cormag or the whimpering servant girl on the floor.

Though still shrouded in total darkness, she hears the priest of Helios hiss and cry out initially before obviously stifling his audible reaction. Though Tuurma is not foolish, listening intently as the man pats out his burning robes, clearly moving around the room now so he doesnt make an easy target for another blast of flames.

The intensity of heat from the breathed flames is obvious, even through the pitch black darkness. Then Tuurma clearly hears the man she is blindly fighting begin to chant, now standing directly behind her position.

Actions!

Give me a d6 initiative roll with your next action, please. I would try to roll high if I were you.

Tuurma the Ashen

Initiative [1d6]= 5 !

The withering heat of Tuurma's potion, expelled successfully at Jak'n, is raising her emotional level along with her body temperature. But even as the wily priest survives the first gout of fire and dances behind her, she tries to keep her rage in check. When she hears the chanting start up behind her, she quickly drains the rest of the vial into her mouth and spins around. This time only hesitating the moment it takes to guess whether she has a clear and accurate line of FIRE to the priest, before spitting a second volley of flames in his direction.

Murdering Priests For Goodness Sake
Hot Mess

Getting hotter by the second, Tuurma displays her instincts perfectly, almost guessing where the priest will move through the darkness next. She pours the rest of the hot liquid in her mouth and spins around gracefully, though nobody actually sees her do this.

The young girl in the closet starts to scream even louder now, most certainly gathering attention from any nearby pedestrians outside. "HEEEEEELP HEEEEEELP PLEASE!!!!! IS THERE NO ONE OUTSIDE WHO CAN HEAR ME?" As the smell of burning flesh and burning wood gets worse, her voice seems to be moving in the direction of the doorway. "FIRE!!! FIRE!!! WE NEED SOME HELP OVER HERE!!!!!"

Almost enjoying the power of spitting hot flame from her mouth, the only thing Tuurma wishes she could change is the fact that she can't actually see the devastation she is causing this despicable priest. The man cries out in obvious pain, his dangerous prayer forcefully erased from his lips. Tuurma hears him hit the floor of the home, and doesnt hear any more sound coming from that direction.

Cormag can feel his backside starting to become rather hot, but there isn't a single thing the immobile fighter can do about that at the moment.

...And does the darkness spell fade away? Assuming it does not...

Tuurma decides it's time to deal with the shrill alarums being raised by the vestal girl, Priscilla. "Hush, wench!" she hisses sharply. "You betrayed us to your master, but your fortune is about to change. Be still now and it may yet go well for you, Priscilla. Or, keep bawling and I will cut out that tongue of yours. Your choice..." While speaking these words, Tuurma is prodding around with sword point to find the prone body of her burn victim, and when she does, she delivers 4-5 quick vertical stabs to its center mass. Being no adept in sorcery, the half-blood Amazon is assuming (perhaps mistakenly!) that the continued veil of darkness, as well as continued paralysis of Cormag, mean Jak'n is still alive.

With that done Tuurma takes a moment to consider whether there were any wooden furniture, carpets, mats, or perhaps straw on the hovel floor that could have been ignited by her fiery breath. She doesn't remember any, so hopefully the miserable, misogynistic, religious pervert was the only thing burning in here.

If Priscilla keeps up the noise, Tuurma runs there to address the problem directly, and with her steel (well, maybe just a sword pommel to the head). Otherwise, once the girl is quiet and the priest perforated, Tuurma sheathes her weapon and moves as carefully as needed to find the spellbound Kelt, hoist him over her shoulder, and get him to one of the lit corners of the house. ST 15 and she's unencumbered before picking him up.

As needed: Attribute check [1d20] = 19 vs. WS 13

The girl shouts back for a second before realizing she was ordered to be silent. "HEY! I DIDN'T BETRAY YOU TO ANY......."

The temperature in the room continues to rise, causing Tuurma to wonder if her flame spray has ignited the wooden trim around the closet doors, or the wooden wainscoting on the walls, or the thick wooden beams that hold up the second floor. Or......maybe all of them?

When she stabs at the darkness she doesn't feel the body of the priest on the floor, but she does hear a moan of pain a short distance away. When she moves to poke at it, she feels a sharp pain in her calf, as if suddenly stabbed with a knife blade. 2 dam This pain makes Tuurma very angry, and people generally don't like her when she gets angry. Give me a Test of Con to prevent her Rage. (she can Rage on her own accord without the roll, if you prefer)

As she winces from the pain, she hears the sound of very labored breathing and mumbling near her feet, and a struggled scuffing noise moving across the floor, currently headed towards the outside door. She also thinks she hears the crackling of burning wood all around her. From the smell of the place, it might start to become difficult to breath soon as well.

Yes to RAGE, oh and her sword is still in hand at this point :D Rage with Mastery gives 5/2 attacks, so two this round, also it seems the target is prone.

Tuurma becomes completely heedless of the spreading flames. Her keening howl drowns all other noises she hacks savagely at the retreating shape.

By this point, smoke is starting to burn Tuurmas eyes and lungs, though she still can't actually see the threat through the darkness. She is determined to end this situation, and this despicable priest, becoming even more angry, howling loudly, and no longer able to control her emotions or actions as she enters a berserk rage.

Using every bit of her anger to slash, jab, slice, hack, and cut away at the air in front of her, the crazed woman eventually finds a solid target against one wall. Pulling her blade back out dripping wet and hearing a very satisfying final gurgle from the now dead priest, the victor starts to hear more shouting coming from outside the home.

"WHAT IS THE MEANING OF ALL THIS? WHO STARTED THIS FIRE?"

Several male voices join in from outside the burning home. The sound of water being splashed starts to echo through the darkness. One man addresses Pricilla. "Young lady! Who is that man you are dragging? And why is he in such a rigid condition?" Tuurma can hear a female gasp as a burning ember lands on her bare arm. In her current state of mind, she doesn't even notice it melting into her skin.

Cormag climbs quickly to his feet and whispers to Pricilla Play along! Out loud he speaks My thanks for dragging me free of those flames! Someone clouted me from behind! Have you seen my friend? She was burned as a child and is terrified of flames!!! Tuurma!! Where are you!!! assuming Pricilla indicates the burning structure Cormag will grab a bucket and join in with the bucket brigade. As he works he'll alternate between calling Tuurma!!! and warning people that if she's in that blaze, she's likely in frenzy of fear!! If she has her sword out stay clear of her!!! when he has a free moment, he'll tell Pricilla to fade away.

How engulfed is the building? If it's not fully ablaze, and he knows she's alive, Cormag would risk running in & tackling Tuurma to haul her out.
