"Said the Thief to the Moon
I'll extinguish your light soon
I'll put an end to all the light that you shed

Athan moves to the victim, his sightless eyes stare up at the warrior, the hole in his chest, the size of Athan's boot. He is beyond hope. Bryne draws her rope taunt enough to keep the smaller displacer beast entangled and soon the beast's cries turn to one of fear as Kade too throws a rope over it so they can keep it at a distance from hurting anyone else. Finally, it merely whimpers as the ropes keep it from moving.
Thena moves to the injured or at least tries to, for she is suddenly hit with a wave of nausea and vomits up the drink she had earlier. As she bends over she dry heaves having emptied her stomach. She feels a hand on her back, soft and gentle. Thinking first it Liviel, she raises her head and sees she is no longer in the clearing. She stands alone, her companions gone, in blackened ruins and the hand she felt she now sees is burned raw and belongs to her mother, her face the color of smoke and ash and as she opens her mouth, as if to speak, and Thena can see fire within. She has but a moment to comprehend this when her mother is engulfed in flames and she crumples into a pile of ash in the blackened remains of her family inn. Now she can see the entire town of Lupre is in flames. And just beyond the border of the smokey remains of the inn she can see the magician as he hammers the head of her father onto a pike, with his red right hand. On pikes beside her father are the heads of each of her siblings. The magician looks her in the eye and says, "The pale lord will rise up and devour all that you are. The skies call forth thunderous storms from afar. And When you're gone there will be no grave to remember your name. For your faith brings your end and there's no one but yourself to blame." As his words echo in her mind, unsure if she actually heard him speak them, flames rise up around her blotting out her view. Then suddenly she feels his breath on her neck behind her and her last sight is the red right hand covering her mouth as the crimson fingers sink into her eyes.
Liviel calls out, "Thena are you alright?" And then Thena opens her eyes, back to where she was prior to the fit of nausea. Athan, Bryne, Kade and Torvik stand by with the small displacer beast entangled in rope.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mave, Niserie, Mediphera and De'Ath stick together and though several of the vagary guards say they saw Wilwarin and the strange man she was talking to, slip off into the forest, none seem to have seen her since. Mave asks several of the royal guards to search the forest but to no avail.

Mave
"Where could she have gone to?," Mave asks to no one in particular. Wilwarin had always been a little distant, but it was unlike her to slip off without a word. She wishes Bryne or Vari were here to make a thorough search of the area.

Bryne
"Search the cave it came out of well we keep this kit under control. Maybe one of its victims left behind something we can use to identify them with."
Once the searching is done Bryne will coordinate leading the kit back to the fair.

Thena
Shakes her head and blinks with confusion. To herself: I've been poisoned... is my family secure? Need to seek help in the city....
Turing around: Liveil, I am going back to the fair. Not feeling well. With that she will start her way back.

“Leave something for someone but dont leave someone for something.” ~ Enid Blyton
Liviel follows Thena back to the vagary fair, worried by her words and the paleness in her face. While Torvik gives the cave a thorough search, he finds much in the way of animal bones, even the partial skeleton of a horse saddlebags tossed aside. Finding no human remains he turns his attention to the saddlebags. Inside is several tins of rations, he counts them out and there are 2 weeks worth. There is also a steel flint, five torches wrapped together with a leather band, and a leather bag containing two small red gems. The other bag contains a small leather bound book which Torvik cannot read and two rolled vellum scrolls within a mahogany case.
The remaining guards, the Lord and Lady Gallowhawk and son having left earlier, ready coaches for those returning to the city. At the sight of Bryne and the others return, the guard left in charges asks, "Should we put the beast down?"
It is late in the evening when you all gather again at the fair. Wilwarin and the man she was talking to cannot be found. You need to decide what to do about this captured beast. Thena is poisoned and there is the matter of Huerta who was left waiting at your inn, who wishes to speak to "The Finla". You may return to the inn or stay in the Gallowhawk compound. Lord Gallowhawk wishes to meet with his daughter and the rest of you the next morning. Let me know your actions.

Re: Gull's Landing
Torvik puts everything that will fit back into the leather bag and saddlebags and brings them out to the others. "Everythin' I found is in these. Only thing that might identify anyone is tha scrolls I found, I couldn't read em, so no idea what they say. Same wit' tha book I found too."

"Excellent work Torvik, lets get heading back. Careful with the little beast now."
She starts leading the beast back to the fair.

Mave
Mave is anxious to leave and rejoin her mother, but distracted by the appearance of Thena and Liviel. It is clear from Thena's look that something troubles her and her wan face tells the swashbuckler that the priestess needs help. She points to the carriage waiting nearby, "Thena, join me in the carriage and we will get you back to town."

Re: Gull's Landing
Rev, is there a chance Nis has some herbs, or that some exist nearby, that might make Mave feel a little better with the use of Nis' Herbalism nwp?
Re: Gull's Landing
There is an excellent chance of finding herbs in your current location. Roll your herbalism skill with a -4 bonus due to Mediphera and De'Ath being with you.
Re: Gull's Landing
Sisters, let us find something to aid the Lady Mave... She says, then sets about searching the surrounding area for the proper herbs.
Once/if found, Nis will set about preparing it to give to Mave
====
Nis Herbalism (14)
Nis Herbalism assisted [1d20]=17
-4 (assisted by Mediphera and De'Ath)
=> 13, Pass! (Barely!)
hahah, passed only with help, so probably De'Ath finds it hehe

"He waits by the riverside
And he waits by the road
He’ll play you his drum
And the fiddle he’ll bow
So caution yourself
Beware of his tongue
Cause all that is loved
Can crumble to none." ~ Oli Julian & Nick Foster
Thena starts back towards the fair, her footing unsteady as she pushes forward, the nightsky an inky blot of darkness as she gazes upward for a moment and then falls foward onto the leaf covered floor of the forest. Liviel too slow to stop her fall rushes to the fallen priestess as Mave catches sight of them.
The three witches, Niserie, Mediphera and De'Ath search the grounds and the forest near for useful herbs and between the three they locate some Laumspur, Makebate and Lungwort. Mediphera says, "Just the thing, I think. We need to crush them together and mix with water and a few drops of honey."
Kade nods, "Yes commander," offering the rope to Athan so that he ay the lnd Bryne can lead the smaller displacer beast back to the fairgrounds. Kade then moves to Torvik and shoulders both bags, "I'll carry the load commander." When the four arrive back at the campsite they see Thena on the ground with Liviel and Mave leaning over her.

Bryne
Still holding on to the young beast.
"What happened? What can I do to help?"
Has a potion of healing and a ring that might be magic but is unknown.

Athanasius
Athan keeps a firm hold on the small pup as they follow along - he observes its behavior, fascinated since he had not see a similar one before, but then his concerns shift to Thena.
"And where is Morwen?" - he asks, suddenly worried.

Mave
"She's been poisoned I think, by the magician," Mave says at Thena's side, "We need to find a cure." She then looks around for Morwen, unsure where she has gone. The last time she saw her, she was healing her mother.
