Renna takes the items and says "Thank you kind sir. Here is the payment requested." She hands him 1pp, 1gp, 2 sp and 2 cp (subtracted from sheet)

Moseley takes the coins from Renna. “Thank you, and please come back anytime.”

Loyn looks confused…“I’ve always called it caltrip, makes you trip when you step on it! He re-enacts stepping on one and almost falling “See, what I mean!” He smiles and says,“I’m Loyn son of Groyn, good to meet you!”

The crotchety old timer just stares at the dwarf’s antics for a few moments.

“Hmmmmm, I suppose that does make sense, in a weird way. Caltrips, eh? Wait! Son of Groyn? You mean Groyn Shortbeard? Of the famed duo of Fingal and Groyn?”

Renna will smile back at the kind Moseley and head out with Stobart.

To Renna: "We should put all our equipment in the room rather than carrying around."

He heads over to the inn to put his belongings in the room before returning to the tavern.

Loyn answers the quartermaster, “Yes, Groyn is my father, only recently did I find out he and this Fingal you speak of were adventuring together and that he had a talking dog. He never returned from his last outing that was to the caves. I’m hopeful I can find him.” He sighs slightly, then looking around the store he says,“I would imagine they stopped in here quite a bit! When was the last time you saw them and do remember what you spoke about? Any information would be helpful.”

“Oh, ya. Bene! He was a smart dog! Everyone here loved Bene! What ever happened to him, I wonder.”

Moseley thinks for a moment.

“You know, I do remember folks talking about that single cave a lot, the one that sits further away from the others in the ravine. A bunch of people were thinking about going out that way, down some long passageway. Come to think of it, that must be the last place they went exploring , since we ain’t seen em’ since.”

[Hotgoblin]

“Hmm…you said Bene was smart, what did he know, just animal stuff? Can you show me which cave you’re referring to on the map? He lays his maps out on the counter.

"He knew all kinds of stuff. And I ain't just talking about rolling over and fetching, either. The dog was the brains of that outfit, I swear it."

He points to the single cave on the map. "Like I just said, I suspect it's the one that sits further away from the others that are located in the ravine."

“Thank you for the supples and information, I appreciate you.” Loyn leaves the money on the counter, gathers his goods and starts toward the door…“Almost forgot about the caltrips Mr Moseley, you got any?”

The ornery Quartermaster crosses his arms.

"Nope. But you could go check with Rafe. Our local smithy. He might make stuff like that for you."

Sounds good, I’ll check with him! Loyn heads to the smithy.

Crabgrass

Visits the Quartermaster's, introducing himself to Moseley the proprietor.

The cleric/mage is always interested in trinkets, odd bits of gear and supplies, the latest gadgets and tools. He wonders in regard to base spell compound equipment such as mortars and pestles, flasks and test tubes, embalming jars, artisan tools.

Items that can't be manufactured inside the Keep are sold here. Glassware, crockery, baskets, and a multitude of textiles and clothing make up the majority of the store,

Noting the above, he will ask about the trade in glassware and reed baskets, showing Moseley the reed pipe glassblowers and the sample of glass blowing sand he took from the Kobold cave.
"What do you make if it? How trade might be if locally blown glassware was available to merchants and tourists.

The Kobolds were certainly inventive. A shame their skills are put into tricks and traps rather than honest trade "

He asks about laboratory gear, how feasible it is to trade with Kobolds and if a specialist bowyer exists within the Keep.

The no nonsense Quartermaster greets Crabgrass with a kind smile, noticing his obvious handicap. "Ye didn't lose that arm in the war by chance, didja?"

The old man looks over the proffered items, kissing his teeth the whole while.

"We don't have a glassblower here at the Keep, but if yer suggesting that we hire these kobolds of yours, I don't think Devereau would go fer that. I never heard of any of the merchants who come here dealing with anyone as unruly as those monsters. They could never be trusted."

He shows off a limited supply of glassware and other similar lab items an alchemist might use. He has a few of the items suggested, but not everything.

"We got a damn good carpenter, though we lack a true boyer. BUT! You are in luck, as tomorrow is Market Day, and there should be all manner of weapon merchants stopping in to sell their wares."

Crabgrass

The quartermaster obviously more versed and experienced in such trades. "I was just thinking the Kobolds have some innate talents for such base crafts. If that could be harnessed; glassware, rattan crafts, beadwork as honest trade over roguery then all the better but I am not proficient in such diplomacy to act as a middleman in kobold affairs."

He wonders whether a more roguish aligned person might be suited to overseeing Kobold to Keep trade affairs and if getting in good terms with a cave faction might mean a stronghold and base could be created.

He muses, looking over the various wares, limited presently in coins to only window shopping.

A bowyer would be an interesting contact. I show Moseley the arrow I took from the bandit log.

"These flew swift and true unlike poorer quality ones. I wanted to source who fletched them.".

On the subject of his prosthetic, "No, not in wars, nothing so heroic. An experimental research, a pinch of rare powders mixed with exotic compounds, touched off with an unrepentant 'Amen' and well, the new god's answered. An epiphany of praise and power but at the cost of my ambidextrousity."

He squeezes its fingers slowly into a fist, uncurling them with a little zap of energy, "It is imbued with a Shocking Grasp I can invoke as a daily mage spell but it weighs heavily and tires me so as to lurch along as a drunkard. Cod liver oil lubricates the joints."

He purchases a few basic supplies; a new lantern, more oil flasks, torches, money deducted as book price from sheet.

He thanks Moseley for his time and considerations.

Moseley seems very interested in hearing some of the information Crabgrass offers, though he isn't sure about the arrow.

"Cant say I recognize the fletching. Not that I am any expert on such things. As I said, them little monsters would be more trouble than the worth of setting the whole thing up. Probably anyway."

He listens intently about the prosthetic arm, raising his bushy white eyebrows with a "hummph, ya dont say. Interesting".

"Remember, if ya need coin changed or gems bought, lil Mouse is the guy to see. I don't do money exchange here anymore, sadly. Just not as much call fer it lately."

Crabgrass

Takes his basic supplies. paying with real coins not his pouch of kp.

The name Mouse crops up often, so he figures to find out more about him eventually. He will try to find a bowyer on market day.

"Thank you for the advice. When I find gems, I will know where to come".

Running up and stnding behind Crabgrass, Keya waits.

"Mr. Moseley, do You sell your arrows by the dozen or score, i need sone about this size."

He takes one if his arrows and hands it to him.

Moseley squints and smiles at Keya.

“These are nice. Elven made?”

He sets several bundles of arrows on his counter.

“These aren’t as nice, but they’ll get the job done for you.”

“One gold coin per dozen, please.”

"Can't say I recognize the fletching. Not that I am any expert on such things.

“These are nice. Elven made?”

Crabgrass overhears this as Keya posted running up to and standing behind him. Having just tested the waters of his knowledge with the bandit arrow shaft, to hear him expertly note the distinct quality of the ranger's own arrows, I must decide either Moseley is just flattering Keya or fobbing himself off after recognising the bandit owned arrow?

Interesting. I will add 'QtrMst' Moseley to my list of shady characters and rumours.

Moseley squints and smiles at Keya.

“These are nice. Elven made?”

"Actually, they come from the orc way of making arrows. Made by a friend from home."

He sets several bundles of arrows on his counter.

“These aren’t as nice, but they’ll get the job done for you.”

“One gold coin per dozen, please.”

Keya takes his time and checks out the arrows and realizing they are all the same takes a set and gives a gold.

Thank you sir. Crabgrass, I must run."

Slight bow and leaves.
