Character Creation
Campaign ID: 1034
Before anyone goes all crazy getting the first character in, please take a moment to really think about what you want to play. If this campaign goes through as many modules as I hope it does, you will likely be playing this same character for a very long time. So make sure you create something that will hold your interest long term. Thanks.
Ability score options: (chose one option once)
You can create a macro for six rolls of 4d6, dropping the lowest, and placing them in any order. (this must be in a macro and show up as a roll in your log)
Or
You can use 72 points, split up however you like, with no scores lower than an 8, and no scores higher than a 17.
Or
You can choose from one of the following stat blocks: (arranged in any order)
17

+1,000xp
(that should give you min/maxers enough fits)
Racial adjustments will apply, but no scores can be modified below a 3 or above an 18.
Standard 1E Classes
All Clerics can advance to Unlimited levels. (like the thief class) Including elves, dwarves, and halflings.
A simple Background will do.
(include a reason for coming to or passing by the Keep)
Place of Origin: West Central Greyhawk. Anywhere close to the vicinity of the Yeomanry is fine.
Choose an appropriate Secondary Skill.
Max Hit Points at First Level.
Max Starting gold to purchase Equipment.
Watch your Encumbrance, but no need to track every ounce.
Any out-of-the-ordinary equipment items must be approved. (no Greek fire etc.)
No starting with mounts, pets or animal companions. (except in the case of Druids AF and MU’s FF) These may be obtained in-game however, whenever possible.
Like Clerics, arcane casters will choose daily spells as needed from all spells known to them. (instead of memorizing each specific slot daily)
They will also use the Spell Bonus chart as Clerics, though using their Intelligence score instead of Wisdom.
I will add to this as I remember stuff.

Re: Character Creation
Like The Keep, the infamous Caves of Chaos, a short distance beyond, would also be common knowledge to most travelers and adventurers. It is well known that the Lord who built the keep, thirty some years ago, encouraged fledgling adventurers and explorers from all over the lands to come to the Borderlands, stay at his Keep, and roam the surrounding countryside exterminating anything dangerous in the wild, thereby keeping the roads and waterways safe for travel.
Many novice fighters, clerics, wizards, thieves, and everything in between came to earn a lavish living gathering spoils and eliminating the uncouth humanoid denizens of the caves. And many, many more died trying.
Extra credit for anyone who incorporates something into your background that you remember (or something you’ve heard of) about the original B2 adventure. Or if you come up with a way to tie the two together. (relative of an original explorer, used to stop by the keep when you were a child, etc.)

Re: Character Creation
Also, GreyWolf, you seem to have spelt "Dwarf" wrong
Re: Character Creation
I'm just surprised there are so many clerics.
Re: Character Creation
Well OM did throw in that treat of (U) levels for clerics...

Not my first rodeo.
Re: Character Creation
Well, it certainly worked
And generally a nice spread of races, apart from gnomes.

Re: Character Creation
Well I did threaten somewhere to play a "hobbit" rather than my predictable Dwarf. Sometimes I mean what I threaten.
I almost made a gnome, but wanted to live up to the "threat" of making something I normally don't.

Re: Character Creation
Looks good to me. Not a MU guy, would rather have lots of clerics.
Re: Character Creation
I have switched to Fighter / Mage for Cherry as the spell casting ability offsets her lower hp and otherwise ordinariness in rolled stats.
Can I ask how Mages are selecting spells? My intelligence has a 7-11 minimum or maximum. Do we choose the minimum level plus read magic and detect magic or do you prefer we roll for starting ones?

Sylla Lontharra reporting for duty. (But only answers to authorized representatives of Her Majesty the Empress of the Elven Court of course.)

Re: Character Creation
Pimlan Greenstride not quite reporting for duty. But getting close.
Should I take max starting money for fighter or thief or just add them and average it?
200gp, 120 gp or 160gp? I'm leaning towards the later and can correct once our DM chimes in.
Everything is pretty much done unless we need a backstory that part I can come up with.

Re: Character Creation
You can use the average gold for multi class PC’s.
I will be going through sheets and writing up plot hooks/PC rumors today, so hopefully we are off and running here shortly.
Once I approve your sheet in you private thread, please add it to the public thread for all to see.
Thanks!
