Re: CHAPTER 13: R&R in Hagalton
Max asks Po, Does it need to be charged? If so, how do I do that?

“The weapon has an internal power source. I’m not the one to determine how it functions.”
OOC: An artifact check is required.
Kurot visits the new arrival, Name’losa. He is a colorful character in gaudy, multicolored clothing and coverings.
“Yez, means to lift over ground. Told I am these cuffs (ankle) will make body rise or lateral. Name’losa truths this item but how to make work not know. Involve think and do. Gone for 275gp”

All I gots is 244, friend? Is that enough? asks Max of Po. Hey, Apples, can you loan me fifty? I need to buy a sword!
Denslow will give Max the remainder if Po will not negotiate.

Re: CHAPTER 13: R&R in Hagalton
Kurot contemplates whether he should haggle, then calculates that (1) biological lifeforms are sometimes predisposed to dislike his kind, (2) it's only money, and (3) his circuits are not optimized to emotion-based price negotiation anyway.
"Agreed."
He then inquires as to whether of his companions would assist in discerning the device's functions, in hopes of minimizing the chances that he breaks the 275gp device trying to figure out how it works.

Hagalton 10D/82
While roaming the bustling streets of Hagalton and engaging with both resident and visitor, it becomes increasingly evident that numerous rival groups frequent the vicinity of Sott’Urwa. Tensions and clashes among these factions, as they come and go, are a frequent occurrence.
The groups at Sott’Urwa have made a significant discovery, uncovering branches of an underground transport system reminiscent of your own investigations further south. There's a possibility that these newly found sections are connected to the same expansive system you've been exploring. The subterranean ruins of Sott’Urwa are situated approximately 30 miles to the northeast of your previously identified tunnels. According to on-site accounts, it appears improbable that their expeditions have taken them far enough to infringe upon your claim.

Re: CHAPTER 13: R&R in Hagalton
Denslow shares what he knows. He will get more soil/rations. I suspect we should stake our claim before these folks clean it out, he says. Will be dangerous if they get that far but it could be worth it
Re: CHAPTER 13: R&R in Hagalton
Max completes his purchase, with nary a coin to his name. He checks out the handle to see if he can discover how it is charged.
Artifact check [1d20+4]=12+4=16 max. complexity 5
Denslow will lend 2x2=4 luck to bring that to 20

Hagalton 10D/82
Following Po’s instructions, Max twists the grip and energizes the sword. The entire blade vibrates at a high pitch >HUMMMMM< and appears slightly blurred. Swinging it takes some adjustment but otherwise it may be wielded as a common long sword.
OOC: Translated into game terms:
Max’s roll is 1d20+6 => 12 + 6 => 18 + 4 => 22 – 2 =20
Item is well understood, and minor repairs may be made with a successful DC12 INT check.
Roll a usage die to activate (begins at 1d7)
When activated, the weapon inflicts 1d8+16 per strike.
+2 Attack Bonus.
The sword operates for 30 minutes before shutting down.

Re: CHAPTER 13: R&R in Hagalton
Kurot tries to figure out how the ankle cuffs work.
Artifact Check: [1d20+10]=6+10=16
Can I find out the item's complexity before deciding whether to re-roll or use luck points?

Denslow will spend 2 luck to help bring that to a 20 if Kurot wishes.

Re: CHAPTER 13: R&R in Hagalton
If those tunnels are connected to mission control there might be more to gain than just fame and fortune.
We should finish resupplying and return to stake our claim.
Re: CHAPTER 13: R&R in Hagalton
Kurot initiates a connection with the cuffs after clasping them to his ankles. He gingerly experiments with controlling the devices that allow limited flight.

Usage die begins at 1d10; activation has a 1 hour endurance
Limited Flight; 60ft/round

Denslow says, We should get a move on, so that others do not stake our claim. We want to be fairly rooted there, so they know it is ours.

"I'm ready to go," says Kurot, who is ready to go.
