"Skavi was nearby all this time. Watching you lot, for one thing," Magda smiles at the other woman. "I simply bade him come out of the shadows."

Magda disembarks and stands with the others as Drest goes forward to check the doors. Staff in one hand and lantern in the other, she scans the tall double doors, looking for any engravings or reliefs that might be revealed in the light.

Akhilleus listens but makes no comments regarding Skavis appearance. The ways of magic are something that escapes him and he rather keeps his distance.

Now on the island, he just keeps guard. Seeing that the doors are already being taken care of, he focuses his attention on the water surrounding them.

Cyril stows his staff and loads his sling. He positions himself at the back of the group.

"The silence here is eerie." Despite the whispered comment, the bald priest looks at ease.

Drest will examine them for traps.
Manipulate traps 4:12
Drest finds nothing on the doors or frame that would indicate a trap is in place.

Drest

Drest moves inside, slowly, scanning all about him, including the floor and ceiling/above as he goes.

"Moving in, alert everyone."

Kainaxarthos

Kain will follow Drest, eyes peeled for action. "Trust nobody we find. The snake men change shape, right?"

Cyril
"So can I but you still trust me, right...? Although that's only when I use the snake man amulet. I guess that's the important part to remember. Trust nobody's form who is wearing an amulet that looks like this..."

He fishes his amulet out of his clothes and shows it.

Ceana glances at the amulet, to Cyril's face, and then to Kain and to Belloc and back to Cyril. "Then...how do we know we can trust you?"
Her hand goes to her falcata.
Winter is coming...

Drest

Drest looks back, "Cyril is insane, a priest of the God of Madness. You decide if you can trust him. Now, that said he has always been helpful in the past."

Belloc listens intently to the discussion about the amulet, his interest piqued by the topic.

"I look forward to discussing epistemology with you once we're out of danger, Cyril," he remarks ironically, considering their current predicament deep underground.

Akhilleus unsheathes his sword and follows along. "I won't trust anyone who lives willingly in this Helios' forsaken place."

Cyril
"You wound me, Drest! My god may be insane - and really who are any of us to question the sanity of an all powerful entity - but I daresay I don't show a single sign of that impairment."

"Not intended to wound Cyril, it is just a statement of fact and meant as a compliment in your case."

Island Under The Zakath Desert
Friendly Froggy
No Idea On Time Or Day

Drest simply pushes the huge black doors inward, opening them wide, smoothly and quietly. Beyond is a circular room that is well lit by fixtures placed along the rim of the domed ceiling. The inside of the dome is emblazoned with more of the strangely incongruent geometric shapes and weird alien hieroglyphs that were found in the bizarre abandoned metal buildings outside.

Two features are obvious from the doorway. One is a pedestal on the west side of the room, surmounted by a large fist sized gem. The brilliantly cut gem glows with an iridescent blue-violet light, nestled snugly atop the cushioned pedestal.

The second and only other feature inside the room is a wide stairway that leads downwards directly across the room form the doors. 3 foot high risers descend into the dark gloom below. The unknown earthy smell is less noticeable inside here, though it does become stronger again if you near the stairway.

Drest

Drest moves closer to the pedestal and gem. Being very careful and checking for traps as he goes.

Sik looks suspiciously at the gem on the pedestal.

"Perhaps we should try to knock it off with something from a distance. In case there are traps around it." he suggests.

Taibhse

Moves to the doors and readies his bow. Watching the whole room, but particularly honing in on the descending stairs.

Akhilleus

"That gem... I wonder if it's the gem mentioned by the Matron... If so, how is it that no one has touched, since it looks so easy to get." He moves towards the stairs but does not descend, as he want to mount guard. He's distracted by the glow of the gem and looks attentively at Drest's examination.
