Elias will speak to Saul before the assault starts. "So we need to know where each other is, how about we throw small rocks in front of us where we are planning on going, but let's set up way points, that shell hole to that boulder that looks like a t##, then that boulder above it then the tree near the top?"

Assuming Saul agrees, Elias will pickup a handful of rocks then use what will he needs to activate his invisability and head out.

Somehow when I'm in draft a post mode, I can see post for Elias Tucker suggesting that he and Saul follow three landmarks up the slope. But I can't see the post when I'm just viewing the thread without posting. Odd.
Saul nods at Elias's suggestion. Good call, Tucker. We'll follow those four waypoints to the top. Lead the way. After you start off, I'll follow after a count of five. I'll watch for you to throw a rock if you stop anywhere along the way. Don't want to run into any invisible Tuckers. He collects some pebbles of his own. When Elias goes invisible, he counts to 5, activates his camouflage ability and starts to the first waypoint. The shell hole, followed by the boulder that looks like a t**, then the one above it, then the tree at the top.

Will use the required WP to activate his camouflage.

Outskirts of Aslito Airfield, Island of Saipan, approximately 9:15-9:20 AM, June 17, 1944; Island of Saipan

The members of SST 4 split into two groups and 'went to work' as the battle for the top of the ridge overlooking Aslito Airfield on the island of Saipan began.....

-Tucker and Rabinowitz

Elias Tucker and Saul Rabinowitz came up with a plan to move cautiously up the ridge as the Army troops of the 165th and their fellow teammates opened fire and drew the attention of the Japanese troops on top of the ridge and both scooped up some rocks and dirt and activated their Talent Powers....

Elias Tucker disappeared from sight while Saul Rabinowitz's body suddenly began a combination of colors...greens and light browns and they both moved carefully and cautiously up the slope, tossing little rocks and dirt ahead of each other so they both would know where the other was. It was a well-thought out idea....the only problem was they were moving very slowly up the ridge and both realized their Talent Powers might be tough to keep 'Active' by the top they got close enough to engage the enemy*......

-Everyone else

A deafening cacophony of sound came up as Frank Queen, an armored up Gurung, a carefully aiming and firing Marvin Acme and a mostly 'just trying to stay unnoticed' Fred Roker all joined with a large number of Army troops of the 165th and moved across the face of the ridge, firing away at the Japanese positions above them.

The ground became shredded from fire, but the occasional Arisaka rifle round or 'Woodpecker' report of a Type 92 MG could be heard, the rounds zipping by or hitting a few unfortunate troops. The high pitched whining sound mortar rounds assaulted their ears and a couple of explosions added to the din of combat noise. One missed everyone but the other landed near Gurung and a pair of 'Dog-Faces'. The Gurkha was able to just wince in annoyance as multiple pieces of shrapnel just bounced off his armored skin, doing little more than stinging him a bit**, but the two Army troops weren't so lucky and both were torn to bloody bits....

The smoke from one Japanese Talent pretty much obscured them from Marvin's aim and a few moments later, a rain cloud formed above them a lightning bolt flashed out and slammed into a solider standing right next to Frank Queen, mostly turning the man to ash. Queen never stopped firing though.....at least, until he had to switch magazines for his BAR.....

*Okay, so the approach with the rock/dirt tossing is a smart one and you'll know where the other is....but it will take a bit longer and your Talent Powers might be straining before you get into Throwing Range by doing so.....

**Gurung is at -1 (not -1D, just -1) for the next round from the 'sting' of the mortar shell

Rabinowitz times the intervals of the shooting and in a quiet second or two hisses, Tucker! Sh*tcan the rocks. We're laggin *ss. Got to double-time. He stops chucking stones and starts moving up the slope at a faster pace.

The members of SST 4 had split into two groups and 'went to work' as the battle for the top of the ridge overlooking Aslito Airfield on the island of Saipan began.....

-Tucker and Rabinowitz

A camouflaged Saul Rabinowitz had hissed out a suggestion to his Invisible teammate Elias Tucker to quit with the careful movement up the hill and to rush forward at a faster rate. That done, he raced up the hill and he soon was near the top of the ridge and he caught his first glimpse of the enemy about 50 yards away as he suddenly dropped to the ground and tried to get his breathing under control.....

He saw a trio of Japanese troops, clearly here to watch for flanking movements and one of them had seemed to catch a glimpse of him moving as he was peering down the barrel of his Arisaka rifle pointed in his general direction but he obviously hadn't gotten a really good look as he was still searching for him. From behind him a few yards came a barked questinon in Japanese and Saul could see a foxhole with a Japanese solider manning a Type 96 LMG on a bipod who seemed to be asking his buddy what he saw while a third soldier, soldier also in the fox hole was raising some binoculars up to his eyes to sweep the area. Saul's Talent ability was about to start causing some Physical Strain with willing it to continue*...

Elias Tucker has heard his Teammate's hissed idea and while he wasn't as big of a fan of it, he could tell Saul was putting words to action, so he did the same. Soon, he was near the top of the ridge and he saw the same trio of Japanese soldiers that Tucker did, all about 50 yards away and all clearly looking for Rabinowitz and having NO idea he was there as well. Looking beyond the trio, he could see a cluster of foxholes that had perhaps another 20-30 Japanese troops firing down on the Americans; including one foxhole some 100 yards away with Purplish smoke all around it....CLEARLY showing where the Japanese Talents were located. Elias also started to feel the strain of maintaining his Talent Power of Invisibility right about then*.....

-Everyone else

Meanwhile, the mass of Army Troops and other members of SST 4 continued to rain fire on the top of the Ridge while moving away from the Flank Assault to keep the enemy's focus on them.....

Here and there an Army trooper of the 165th dropped from a Sniper round or cried out as a 7.7mm Machinegun round or shrapnel from a mortar round lanced into them, but they continued to keep up a good, brisk return fire....

Major Acme fired off a last burst of .45 rounds from his clip and he pulled it out and put in a fresh one for his Thompson SMG when a round zipped past his ear buzzing like an angry hornet and causing him to flinch as he realized he had just been missed by a round by no more than 2 inches.....

Chief Roker fired the last round of .30 cal from his M1 Carbine's clip and he pulled it out and slammed home a fresh one just as a round stung the top of his left shoulder, causing him to hiss in pain. A quick glance showed that a small hole had been torn in his uniform and a small bit of blood was flowing from the light cut as he removed a small sliver of metal; a piece of shrapnel from a mortar round that had exploded a few yards away.....

Rifleman Gurung actually had a couple of rounds hit him, but his armored body meant they did little more than cause painful bruises that would ache for awhile afterwards, but he fired his Enfield, worked the bolt and did it again, then realized he had run dry. He quickly moved to put two 5 round chargers into the magazine, one after the other, quickly refreshing his weapon....

Gunner's Mate Frank Queen fired off one last burst from his BAR before his Magazine ran dry, the 'sight/smell/sound' of his Talent Power suddenly seeming to flash and then fade out to the other Talents as he exchanged one magazine and slammed home another one and he dropped on shaky legs to the ground for a moment as he felt weak and tired. He was quickly helped back up to his feet though and he had a half-grin on his face as he said; "I DEFINITELY drilled one of theose damn Woodpecker MG gunners with that last burst...."

*Okay, Saul and Tucker are 50 yards from a trio of 'Flank guards'; two with Rifles (one who has it on his back and is using binocs at the moment) and one with an LMG. Beyond them, starting at a range of 100 yards are the rest of the Japanese troops, including the Supers in a foxhole hidden by the Purple Smoke, for the moment.

You have one more round of your Powers with no WP roll needed to keep it 'up'.....but after next round, if you want to keep it active, it will count as an escalating WP roll and an action for that round....so keep that in mind.

Taking advantage of their attention elsewhere, Elias rushes towards the foxhole in hopes to throw a grenade on top of the flanking unit next round if he can hold his invisibility.

Saul crawls forward to within grenade throwing range. He squeezes a grenade's handle, pulls the pin and throws, aiming for the spot at the center of the three. Maybe just a little closer to the soldier with the Arisaka peering in his direction.

Marvin smiles in appreciation of whatever caused the miss and continues firing up the ridge. "Cmon guys, let's hear those bangs..." As soon as the grenades go off, he intends on rushing the ridge, as was the plan.

Outskirts of Aslito Airfield, Island of Saipan, approximately 9:30 AM, June 17, 1944; Island of Saipan

On the ride surrounding the devastated Japanese Air Field at Aslito on the island of Saipan, the men of SST 4 and the soldiers of the 165th Regiment, U.S. Army continued to 'go to work'.....

-Tucker and Rabinowitz

From their position on the top of the ridge, both Elias Tucker and Saul Rabinowitz rushed forward, feeling the strain of maintaining their Talent Powers* as Tucker moved to within 25 yards of the Japanese foxhole and Saul pulled up at 40 yards away and primed a grenade and hurled it while calling on all the LUCK he could muster/think of....

The 'egg' bounced a couple of times, came to a rest right next to the Solider with the Arisaka Rifle who was pointing it right his way as his eyes finally caught sight of the strange, Camoflauged man racing towards him and then with a flash and a bang, the man was blown off his feet to land in a bloody, unmoving pile. In the foxhole near him, enough shrapnel laced into the Soldier manning the Type 96 LMG, that he dropped as well, leaving only the soldier with the binoculars to suddenly move in a panic towards the LMG and hastily get behind it and start to turn it towards Rabinowitz.....never seeing Tucker moving up on his flank. The sounds of intense fire and American yells and curses came over the wind to the top of the Ridge and both Elias and Saul knew the U.S. assault had begun. They'd have to move fast to take out those MG, Mortar and Talent positions of the IJA......

-Everyone else

At the bottom of the ridge, the long awaited 'first Boom' could be heard/seen from the troops down below and in a mad, screaming frenzy, they immediately moved to rush up the ridge towards the remaining Japanese positions....

Acme was worried because the blast wasn't really that close to the Japanese positions they could see firing on them, but he had no time to wonder much about it as the surge of humanity began racing up the ridge line. He joined in, rushing forward up the steep ridge, wincing as he saw Japanese Rifle fire and the distinctive sound of a mortar round arcing down to lance into the body of troops, causing definite casualties....

Gurung raced up alongside his commanding officer, he saw and heard the tell-tale flash of a 'Wood Pecker' Type 92 MG and near him, he saw a pair of Army troops torn to shreds. On the run, he fired a fantastic shot right at the muzzle flash, and while he couldn't see if he hit anything, the fact that the MG immediately stopped firing was certainly an indication his shot had struck home....

Roker wasn't really sure about this whole 'rushing up an exposed ridge line into enemy fire' thing, so he paused for a moment and got jostled a few times as Army types bumped into him, screaming and cursing as they made their 'charge into glory' all around him. Then with a sigh, he followed after them, wondering for about the millionth time since the war began, why did HE, a Navy RADIOMAN, keep finding himself in situations like THIS.....

*Tucker and Saul, if you want to keep Talent Power up now, it's an Action and a roll, using WP (you can spent WP points)....but note, if you fail, you'll feel weak, disoriented and a bit of failure and unable to do anything else that round.....if you succeed, you can take actions as normal, but with the -1D penalty to all other actions just like you would for doing two (or more) things in a round. Let me know if you have questions and what your decision is.

Elias will let his invisibility drop while he is running to either the powered group or the mortars, whichever is closer and throw a grenade in the center.

Saul lets his camouflage drop and mentally debates a little about choice of targets. He decides it's better stick together and focus on a target and take it completely out, even if it means overkill. He runs with Elias, and throws another grenade at the target, hoping to take out as many of the enemy as possible.

Outskirts of Aslito Airfield, Island of Saipan, approximately 9:35 AM, June 17, 1944; Island of Saipan

On the ride surrounding the devastated Japanese Air Field at Aslito on the island of Saipan, the men of SST 4 and the soldiers of the 165th Regiment, U.S. Army continued to fight in a bloody, close-quarters brawl of a fire-fight.....

-Tucker and Rabinowitz

The two Talents had both let their Talent Powers 'turn off' and both primed and hurled grenades at the closest of the enemy Foxhole targets, a large one holding a pair of 81mm Mortars and some 7 or 8 IJA troops manning them some 20 yards away; ignoring the closer IJA soldier who had moved to take up the Type 96 LMG that a trooper killed by Saul's grenade a moment ago had been pointing their way.....

Tucker's throw wasn't great and it took a strange hop and exploded several yards away from the intended target, but some of its fragments still took out and wounded some of the Mortar crew, keeping them from being able to drop more shells down the tubular weapons. Rabinowitz's throw however, was right on target and it landed in the middle of the foxhole and exploded with enough force to take out most of the troops manning the 'stove pipes' and knocking said Mortars to the ground in the process....

The man closest to them let out a scream of rage though and he fired a spray of 6.5mm rounds at them, the recoil throwing his aim a bit off, but he was still able to hit both men with the weapon, Saul taking a round in his side, just above his hip and Elias taking a round that painfully broke his clavicle where his left shoulder and torso came together*.....

-Everyone Else

As the mass of humanity surged up the ridge, the fire from both groups rose in volume as did the screams of anger, rage, pain, victory and defeat....

Rifleman Gurung moved forward, but kept his sharp eyes on the foxhole holding the 'Woodpecker' Type 92 MG whose gunner he had just taken out. Sure enough, the loader moved to take up the spade grips of the weapon and he leveled his SMLE Rifle and fired it. While his shot didn't permanently take out the IJA trooper, it hit him hard enough to drop down into the foxhole screaming in pain, and more importantly NOT being able to fire it back at them....

The second Type 92 MG however WAS able to cut loose and several Army troops were dropped from its spray of 7.7mm rounds before and exhausted, but keeping up with the pack Frank Queen managed to yell out, "GET DOWN!" to the Army soldiers in front of him and he cut lose a long spray of rounds from his modified Lewis Gun that suppressed the crew of the weapon for a moment. Frank saw some of the troops looking at his marksmanship with admiration and he scolded them with; "DON'T LOOK AT ME YOU IDIOT DOG-FACES, GO TAKE THEM NIPS OUT!"

Chief Roker raced alongside his long-time teammate Gurung and looking ahead, he saw a sudden blast take out the Mortar Foxhole, while the MG foxhole took a bunch of fire from the new guy, Queen, and the MG gunners were forced to hug the dirt. That left a foxhole some 50 or so yards back, covered in swirling Purple Smoke and then a massive crack of Thunder caused him to wince from both the power of the sound AND the feel/smell of the Talent Power and a Lightning Bolt arced down and in an instant a pair of Army soldiers were electrified to smoking corpses while a third rolled on the ground, spasming in agony....

Major Acme rushed along with the crowd, taking it all in and doing his best to follow along with everything that was happening. As they got to within 50 yards of the enemy, he looked over and saw the ragged line of maybe a dozen IJA troops shooting with Arisaka's at the mass of troops coming up the Ridge and he KNEW they wouldn't last long against the weight of numbers and fire the U.S. force could bring against them. What was far more alarming/of interest was the grouping of 4 foxholes....

The furthest back was the Mortar foxhole and he saw a couple of explosions, clearly coming from 'nades tossed by the unseen Tucker and Saul and he could tell THAT problem had just been eliminated. Then there were a pair of MG nests, one of which didn't seem to have anyone firing it at the moment, the other had its crew suppressed by the new Talent, Queen. Finally, there was the foxhole covered by a Talent covering it with Purple Smoke and then with a massive CRACK from above, also the guy frying people with Lightning Bolts. These foxholes were about 50 yards away and were THE problem to deal with.....

"That way!" He points out the purple target to the guys and starts heading that way, firing at targets along the way that get exposed.

He tries to keep his eyes on the talent foxhole, hoping to lock eyes with the lightning talent to contest him.
