Re: Pregame Discussion
Dave you are, one of my favorite DM's on this forum. Doesn't matter to me if you live up to Rob's reputation (impossible task imo) just live up to your own. I know what to expect (sort of) in your games, that is why no matter how many of my characters don't survive your games I keep returning to them.
I more or less took that name as Rob's long running sandbox game had "with plenty of sand" in the title at one point.

Re: Pregame Discussion
No worries, Dave. And no pain here.
Take your time, man. We ain't going nowhere.
Winter is coming...
Re: Pregame Discussion
I agree, no rush.
Re: Pregame Discussion
Just a quick check-in.
I regret the need to share that I have made next to zero progress since my last update.
Still no job (just multiple rejections) and we've been busy preparing for an upcoming trip so, honestly, I just haven't been in the mood.
I even found myself losing interest or motivation to do anything D&D or games related, but thankfully the GROGTALK podcast lured me back in. In fact, I am interrupting some world building work I was doing for Greyhawk to send this message, so --
I guess the long and the short of it is, this game is still going to happen, just not for a while yet. Still.

No worries, Dave. I'm sure I'm not the only one still here. Take your time, we understand.

We will keep the good thoughts going your way and if you need to take some time we will be here the other side.
Re: Pregame Discussion
I appreciate it, guys.
Yet another rejection email rolled in since my last post -- I just don't understand it.

You're not in the path of Hurricane Lee are you?

Re: Pregame Discussion
We’re good, thanks.
We just finished passing the TSA security checks and grabbing some lunch in the Orlando airport while waiting for our flight which boards at 3:23 pm (Eastern) (it’ll be very nice to be back in the Central time zone).
I’m sure it’s going to take a day or so to recover (from the weather and time adjustment), but I’m looking forward to resuming normal activities soon.

Re: Pregame Discussion
Back home.
It is currently 66 degrees (Fahrenheit) here in my hometown; it was at least 91 degrees plus every single day we were in Orlando. Even at night -- like, 10:30 or 11:00pm at night -- it would still be in the 80's (or maybe high 70's if we were lucky). The weather there is just unbearable for me.
Anyway, I am beginning work on this game in earnest this week.

Re: Pregame Discussion
I can't imagine living somewhere that warm. I have relatives in Florida and whenever I visit I do it in January or February and everyone looks at me like I am nuts wearing a t-shirt in 60 degree weather while they wear jackets and coats I don't need until it drops below freezing.
Re: Pregame Discussion
Same.
ike, I didn't wear a coat a single time last winter (and Chicago weather can be brutal). I was never outside for long stretches at the same time -- a half-hour max -- but I survived in hooded sweatshirts and gloves.
Re: Pregame Discussion
Now, a couple of (tentative) game announcements:
- As much as I like it in theory, I might be scrapping the whole grit and flesh hit point system.
It's not AD&D, which I sometimes lose focus of. I do really like that system (at least in theory; I've never actually used it), I will most likely be saving that for a different game.
. - I also have thoughts on where things might lead post T1. Which, considering that is a looooong way off, I'm not going to do too much advance planning for, but I do want/need some basics down so I can properly foreshadow certain events or clues.
.
