[001] Into the Blackmarsh
Re: [001] Into the Blackmarsh
Thanks!
Re: [001] Into the Blackmarsh
OK, crap, a rewind is in order. Due to the 1 point of damage from missile fire, Ylyndyr is actually blinking and -3 on everything. He should attack G4 so he can give a decent defense and let Marcus take out G5.
G1 and G3 attack Poeninus
G4 attacks Ylyndyr
G5 stands back up
G6 attacks Marcus
Marcus will attack G5
Ylyndyr's 896 is a +8, 7 + 8 - 3 (blinking) is a 12 vs G4's 12 defense is a hit, roll [2d6+1] damage.
Poeninus's 410 is a -2, 8 - 2 is a 6, a miss.
Marcus
A 484 is -1, 14 - 1 is a 13 vs the G5's stunned AND blinking (wounded below 1/2 HP) defense of 12 - 4 (stun) - 3 (blinking) of 5 is a double damage crit (13 - 5 is 8)
That's enough to take out G5.
The goblins:
4 goblins attack G1 [1d1000]=558 G3 [1d1000]=934 G4 [1d1000]=769 G6[1d1000]=74
G1's 558 is a +0, 7+0 is a 7, hit's Poeninus's secondary defense (10 - 3 or 7)
G3's 934 is a +10, 7 + 10 is 17 which is double damage against Poeninus's defense of 10
Each hit gets through for 1 point of damage
G4's 769 is a +4, 7 + 4 is 11 vs Ylyndyr's defense of 6 (- 3 for blinking) which hits for single damage
Ylyndyr's armor absorbs all the damage.
G6's 074 is a -10, 7 - 10 is -3, a miss.
So Ylyndyr, roll [2d6+1] damage against G4.

Poeninus attacking G3 will prevent it from flanking Ylyndyr.

Re: [001] Into the Blackmarsh
OK, that's a decent hit but not enough to stun.
(BTW, I did mess up last round and G5 should not have been stunned, but I'm not going to take that back...)
So remaining you have G1, G3, G4 (wounded), and G6 vs Poeninus (uninjured), Ylyndyr (blinking), and Marcus (uninjured). Ylyndyr could step back and allow Poeninus and Marcus to close ranks, but that would allow the goblins to get 3 on 1 on either Poeninus or Marcus. Ylyndyr could also shrug off the blinking for a round (and then be -4 on subsequent rounds).
Re: [001] Into the Blackmarsh
Poeninus cast barkskin on himself, not Ylyndyr. So my guess would be that 4 more points of damage actually got through.
Re: [001] Into the Blackmarsh
Oh, woops... Lots of mistakes here...
Hmm, let's say a stroke of foretelling had Poeninus cast the Barkskin on Ylyndyr instead otherwise you'll be in a lot worse shape...
It actually would sort of make sense since Ylyndyr had the potential of being surrounded.
Re: [001] Into the Blackmarsh
Ylyndyr throws a fireball V at G3 for 4d10
(Yeah, this is a bit of a panicked reaction on my part to try and take out a goblin. Perhaps G4 would be a better target?)

Re: [001] Into the Blackmarsh
Casting a spell in your state would be very detrimental. You would either take -6 to success on top of the -3 from blinking and no (additional) defense penalty, or take -8 defense for only the -3 blinking penalty or -4 defense for a -3 penalty plus -3 for blinking. Then your to hit for the fireball will be -3 for blinking. And if you take any damage while casting the spell that's an additional -2 success per point of damage taken while casting.
Re: [001] Into the Blackmarsh
Poeninus attacks G3
Ylyndyr attacks G4
Marcus attacks G6, stepping between G6 and Ylyndyr to prevent Ylyndyr from being double teamed.
G1 attacks Poeninus
G3 attacks Poeninus
G4 attacks Ylyndyr
G6 attacks Marcus
Poeninus 653 is +2, 7 + 2 is 9, a miss
Ylyndyr 618 is a +1, 5 (incl. -3 for blinking) + 1 is 6 a miss
Marcus 221 is a -6, 14 - 6 is 8, a miss
Oh, damn...
4 goblins attack G1 [1d1000]=991 G3 [1d1000]=841 G4 [1d1000]=900 G6[1d1000]=83
G1 9913 is +15, 7 + 15 is 22 vs Poeninus defense of 10 is 12 more than necessary, -2 for crit pro is 3x damage
Here I'm just going to let Poeninus have cast Barkskin on both of you since he originally was supposed to have cast it on himself
Poeninus takes 5 damage and just barely avoids blinking state
G3 841 is+6, 7 + 6 is 13 vs Poeninus secondary defense of 7 (10 - 3) is another hit
Which doesn't get through the Chain + Barkskin
G4 900 is a +8, 7 + 8 is 15 vs Ylyndyr's 6 parry is 9 higher, 9 - 2 crit pro is 7, so just double damage
Oof... 8 get's through and Ylyndyr drops to the ground
G6 083 is a -10, 7 - 10 is -3 a miss
Let's rewind and say that Ylyndyr shrugs off blinking. Losing the -3 penalty doesn't mean he hits, but now he is only hit for 1x damage, 1d8 can't penetrate his armor.
And now I suggest Ylyndyr try and go berserk. That will shrug off the blinking for the rest of the combat. It will give him +4 to attack (with what he's been rolling, he would be hitting) and -1 defense, but if he goes below -1/4 his hit points, he's dead.
Looking at the battle, Marcus will also try to go berserk
Nope.

Re: [001] Into the Blackmarsh
Also, I'm off to the beach, I may get a chance to update, but otherwise it will be next week before we catch up.
Also make your declarations and rolls for the next round.
Maybe I need to roll attacks for your PCs... The goblins are on a hot streak...

Re: [001] Into the Blackmarsh
Anyone rolling for me is better than me rolling. We could also run it like the Star Wars game I am in on here. We declare our actions and you handle all the rolling. It doesn't matter to me either way.
Re: [001] Into the Blackmarsh
Sorry, I let this go way too long... Does Ylyndyr wish to try and go berserk? If so make a roll, or I will roll for you.
Re: [001] Into the Blackmarsh
Not a great roll, but the situation is desperate... Ylyndyr rallies himself with rage against the goblins.shaidar wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 11:41 am Let's give it a try, I'm assuming it's a standard roll:

Any changes in targets for anyone? I think previous targets make sense. Go ahead and roll attacks (or indicate you prefer I make the roll) and I'll resolve another round of combat and see where we get.
