Awarding Experience Points

Episode 1 - Ravenglass Market
All players characters earn 50XP for this encounter in the Ravenglass Market with the maritime engineer and the boy who stole his nautical instrument. Additional XP awarded to these characters for various details
  • Mudlark Oceansea +10 XP for dialogue
  • Nesta Silvatone +25 XP for attempting pursuit. We can make other opportunities for a foot chase!
  • Thorily Emersat +25 XP for suggesting the party catch the thief and return the stolen property
  • Thrainel +10 XP because I felt intimidated by the character's stature
  • Tove Ulfhjarte +25 XP for offering to pursue the thief and return the stolen property
  • Vatn +25 XP separating the two disputants and ending the violence
Antoine de Saint-Exupery: “If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people together to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.”

Tove apprises the situation...her first thought is she could use the men's interest to shout for help claiming the boy stole something from her, but that would draw unwanted attention she thinks, hindering the others attempt to actually catch the boy if he saw armed men in pursuit, so she pushes that thought away. And she didn't want to appear threatening to the guards, so she purposely slows her movement, keeping an eye on those ahead. She moves in a walking pace past the moneychanger and his guards, putting some distance between them before again picking up the pace of pursuit, hoping the others are more successful in catching him.
+50 XP for Tove

Can I assume you meant Nesta here?

Hello all players, hope the Easter Holiday was enjoyable. I am only back online for tonight (Monday) until sunset tomorrow (Tuesday). My plans for Episode 3 are to have more of a social encounter, where both actions and dialogue will be rewarded based on the objective. There is always the possibility of this social encounter escalating into combat.

Are there any special requests from players for additional rewards of XP with hooks in Episode 4 such as
  • interesting character development?
  • special ability challenges?
  • etc

Nesta is curious about the sextant. He wants to learn more about it, if possible. Where it was made, how it works exactly, etc..

Being only slightly familiar with such tools, he is very interested to learn if there are any magical properties to the nautical instrument.

OK, will think of how to create plot hooks that work. Thanks Rob!

Thorily is just curious as to where this leads. Aaaaand the other contents of that very nice backpack of course. What if we were to stumble upon something that hints at ...wait for it.... something bigger than us (aka start of an epic)?

"I think you are correct Nesta, and I fear I am likely to set the crowd off as another member of the clergy. But if me drawing their attention allows Thorily and Mudlark to sneak around with Ganavette it should be worth it. Go ahead and get ready, then I will get their attention."

Once they are set Vatn moves over where Thorily suggested and start yelling at the crowd. "Disperse now, you are disrupting important temple business." He makes himself as imposing as possible and had Norden standing next to him with his hand resting on his collar.

With Charisma like that, who needs to be intimidating? +50XP to Vatn

Remembering an old elven tale about a fair maiden who lost her love to the sea, Nesta tries his very best to impress the clergy and his friends by putting his heart and spirit fully into the song.

Chr check (12): (no bonus) Ability Check [1d20]=11

Dex Check (16): (at -2?) Ability Check [1d20]=16

Though it isn't the elf's best performance, he manages to get through it without goofing up too badly.
