"Good idea with the scanner. Can it give is exact distances? That might be useful in plotting our route."

What do the dashed lines indicate?
Good questions! You are at the bottom of the map. The dotted lines indicate a zone of volatility in the magma. That is to say, it sputters and gutters and sends up the occasional gout of boiling hot lava once you move past the dotted line. This doesn't happen so frequently that it is an inevitable doom, but if you get unlucky, you could get horribly scalded.

The map pretty well represents the information the scanner would give you of the immediate area. Each square is 10 meters, and the magma is about 150 meters wide.

Please keep asking questions until you feel like you have a grip on the situation. Then, I suggest marking the pdf with the path you'd like to travel, and I'll figure out how many rolls it will entail.

Bertie risks using the scanner again to double check their route and get a better reading of the challenge ahead. Tracing back with the scanner, she is surprised to discover that there is a second passage leading to the ledge the party is standing on, obscured by some tumbled rocks. From the scanner, this passage seems to run roughly parallel to the tunnel you came from. It continues to run parallel past the extent of the scanner’s range (I’ll share an image soon).

Looking forward, the scanner reveals which of the stalactites are stable and which are likely to fall if used as an anchor for swinging across gaps between crystals (you don’t have to worry about this hazard, now).

After gathering this information, Bertie feels that the scanner is noticeably hot—and not just from the ambient heat. The powerpack has been straining to compensate for the magnetic fluctuations in the area, and has suffered drain.

Jeeves prepares a harness so that his suitcase-configuration can be worn as a backpack while attempting to cross. “If the suggestion is not unwelcome, I would note that Ms. of Fury has the frame most suited to bearing additional weight while attempting extended exertions. It may, however, require dividing the contents of her carryall among the others.”

"Good idea Jeeves. I can carry you." She moves up and down the edge of the ledge trying to see if she can determine a path forward.

"My suggestion is this..." She explains the route marked in red. "I am a direct sort of girl, we will need to use the rope in a can on some of these but I think this is as good as I can figure."

Bertie looks at Kallina's route, ponders a route to the left for a bit then returns to Kallina's suggestion, nodding.

"I was thinking the same, that route has the minimum number of gaps to jump that I can fathom."

Kallina

Before proceeding, Kallina will study the explosions of magma and try to determine if there is any pattern to timing and or location.
