Yrias feels lucky for now, and decides to attack again.

Two-Handed Sword +1 - To hit [1d20+2]=16+2=18; Dmg S/M [1d10+4]=6+4=10 L [3d6+4]=12+4=16

Grimm doesn't want to wait anymore, so he joins the fray.

Long Sword - To hit: [1d20]=14; Dmg: S/M [1d8]=5 L [1d12]=12

Elnaerel remembers the bad experience they had with the fire spitting monster... which wasn't real, at the end. She looks at how the monster's faces look so weird and starts thinking if this isn't another trick. She shakes her head and makes everything she can to disbelieve what she's seeing.

Seeing the pallid features of the giant's heads coupled with the unnatural darkness, Andron suspects it may have succumbed to a negative energy attack and become an undead thrall! He presents his holy symbol in a desperate attempt to turn the monster.

System Shock (91%) [1d100]=40

Maag feels rather confused.

One moment he was in a confusing melee, with the last thing he saw being a gigantic sword coming straight at him.

Then, suddenly, there was a bright light. ( Wot is dis all about den?)

Next, oddly, he was in a hayloft with a buxom serving girl called Estelle. (Now den, dis looks like it is goin' to be fun.)

Finally, sadly, he was looking up at Tlachtga the tree-botherer. (You 'ave got to be kiddin' me...Wot 'appened to Estelle? ...'ang on, wot is dat weird smell? Is it soap? 'as she 'ad a bath?)

After his head clears and Maag figures out what happened, he grunts his gratitude to the fragrant Tlachtga and crawls clear of the melee.
If there's time, Maag will fall back far enough to take a shot with his crossbow. If not, he'll wait until next round.

The Princess

Leaning against the wall for support, she calls to Maag when he crawls away from the fracas. "What happened to it? It seems wrong, like an opposite giant. The light changed to dark and the giant changed to that! What caused the darkness, and do you think we could reverse it?"

The Princess spots the other group coming out of the darkness, minus one glaring omission. "Where's Chauncey?!"

Completely ignoring the fight, Daisy rushes in to help Maag. She clucks and fusses, doing mundane First Aid on Maag and The Princess.

Amun hesitates for a moment, considering options, but as all of the others attack the giant to the extent of their ability, she throws caution to the wind and charges, trying to hit one of the giant's legs as it focuses on the raging battle.

2H sword, to hit: [1d20+3]=14+3=17, damage: [1d10+3]=2+3=5 (SM), [3d6+3]=10+3=13 (L)

In the heat of the battle she somehow manages to pick up the Princess's call.

"He's lost to the darkness Princess, I'm sorry. We faced it and was forced back!"

Wes stands back and admires the action with the 25' enemy from a safe distance.

Wake spends the time to heal himself while Torbath continues to look around the area beyond the battle.

Elnaerel tries to disbelieve the giant actually exists, opening her eyes to find the battle raging before her to be quite real.

Tlachtga and Daisy continue to aid their injured friends, the druid praying hard enough to bring a smiling Maag back into a state of consciousness.

The Princess comments on the bizarre current condition of the three headed monster, finally asking as to the whereabouts of the islands most powerful wizard.

Aliendron thinks for a moment before attempting to turn away the giant as if it were undead, but before he has a chance to see the results, the others continue to attack the creature relentlessly.

Using spell, blade, claw, and arrow, the group assails the giant over and over until it finally topples to the floor with a loud thud. Oddly, Andron's suspicions must be viable, as you discern no blood running out of any of the creatures wounds.

Looking around the aftermath, the strange darkness does indeed seem to be coming from the hallway beyond the third door which leads to the underground Activation Station. This weird anomaly appears to be slowly seeping up from the cold basement, penetrating the normal atmosphere that once filled this large room. Again, though it isn't overwhelming, a sensation of dread and evil accompanies the darkness, along with the ubiquitous chill in the air.

Wes says nothing, but Mr. Wrenly sitting atop the hairy druids shoulder cant stop screeching once the monster goes down, letting everyone in the room realize that it isn't only Darklin who has gone missing recently.

The cleric moves around checking the status of everyone nearby. Unfortunately she can provide no healing as she needs time to meditate and pray. She bows her head. I'm sorry but I cannot provide any healing at this time. I need to rest if I am going to be any use from this point on.

The fighter beams with pride as he looks down at the fallen giant. Well done everyone...well done. He then wipes the blood off his sword on a piece of the giant's tattered armor.

Maag climbs unsteadily to his feet and walks over to the giant. " 'ard luck der fellas. I woz 'opin' dat it would not turn out like dis. Still, dem is der breaks." He looks carefully for any signs that the giant is about to lurch back to life. "An' yer did yer best to kill me an' all. Anybody dat tries dat deserves to get der wotsits caught in der mangle".

Maag takes another long look at the body and gives it a poke with his bamboo pole to be sure.

"Well done everyone, no fallen comrades? There's no time to rest now. The darkness is coming and it has already taken Chauncey. I tried to penetrate it but it is impossible. Where do we go now? What did you find behind your door? Is there anyway to escape there?" She looks at the other group who was already fighting the giant as she arrived.

Grimm and Elanerel wait, wondering what could be done next, since, like Amun just said, the darkness is a dangerous area not made for oerthers.

The Princess

She moves to examine the contents of the giant body, hoping for clues to the situation. "The Darkness is possibly coming from a rift down the stairs. A Gold being of negative energy lurks there, but I suspect only recently. The pool and throne don't seem to fit him."

"We made it out and back down off the plateau, only to find a cave with a riddle. We attempted to solve it, possibly failed, everything went dark and we were violently transported here where it was still dark."

"I'm not sure if we caused the darkness or not. I left a note at each door, I want to know if they're still there, or if we are in some sort of mirror image." The Princess motions to the floor in front of the inn door, and the training door.

"And what do you mean, the darkness took Chauncey? Did he fall?"

DM aside:

The body of the giant does not move again.

The notes Princess left by the other doors are still right where she wrote them.

The darkness is clearly growing in the cold room, coming from the open door that leads to the basement Activation Station. (where both the green and white spheres have already been placed into their sconces)

For those who didn't already know: The circular diagram on the wall above the double entry doors now shows the dots at the 8:00 and 10:00 positions are lit up, exactly what happened after the first two obelisks were activated. (red and grey)
