The Lost Tavern
The Lost Tavern Shiny Blue Portal
After a short discussion and quite a bit of love for the party headed below next door, Aliendron returns to his group to lead them through the shimmering blue portal at the end of the extremely well lit central hallway.
When he steps into the magical gate, along with anyone who enters behind him, he is immediately stymied by an unseen but quite solid object apparently blocking his passage through. The object is hard, and covers the entire inside area of the passageway, but doesn't feel cold like stone or iron. It gives ever so slightly but not enough to move it by force when casually pushed upon.
What seems even more odd, is that anyone inside the magical blue portal can hear plates or glasses clinking, strange music, singing, murmured talking, and even hints of laughter coming from somewhere beyond this unknown area.

"There is some kind of ... force field ...blocking the hall. Perhaps there is a doorman?" He tries rapping on the invisible barrier with a couple knuckles.

Alordan wonders if the others are having the same problem. He investigates the floor and walls around the place for any clues. "Maybe you need to shut the door behind us first?"
Re: The Lost Tavern
Theo imagines the probable hot food that's
beyond the barrier. It's been days since he's had anything but iron rations and water. His stomach gurgles loudly in the quiet corridor. Sorry.

The cleric listens scans the side walls for a lever or button that could be use to deactivate the force field.
Cresty
That's a great idea Alordan. The fighter moves to the back to the entrance and attempts to shut the door.

The Lost Tavern
Shiny Blue Portal
Ignoring Theo’s bodily noises, Aliendron knocks on the unseen wooden blockage trapped inside the magical blue shimmer, receiving no reply but again, sensing a slight give in this hidden barrier.
The others look around and listen, finding nothing but bare walls and floor, still hearing muffled revelry and strange music from beyond.
Cresty closes the opposite door at the behest of Alordan, but that doesn’t seem to do the trick either.

The fighter moves forward to the front of the group and stands next to the force field. He states in a bold voice: Greetings patrons...I am Cresty, formally know as Sir Crestbrook the Mighty...sword of the Brotherhood of the Six Silver Circles. We come in peace. Can myself and my friends gain access to your astablishment!
Lerrick
The cleric steps back a few paces from the fighter

"It feels like an invisible door, as it seems to move very slightly when I push on it. We may be able to force or bash it open." He stands aside for those stronger than himself to try. "Perhaps Alordan, Cresty, and Theo working together can get it open?"

Re: The Lost Tavern
Alordan ponders a moment the invisible wall. "Why would we be invited to a tavern then prevented from entering by this thing? It makes no sense. Of course, what has made sense the past few weeks and months?...."
Before lending aide to push the thing over, he first taps around the invisible wall to see if there is any openings below waist level or above head height. Maybe the wall is set to make us think it goes all the way up and down...

The Lost Tavern
Shiny Blue Portal
Cresty tries some of his old Paladin tactics on the unseen blockage, receiving about the same respect he did when he was still a pious Gallant.
Alordan feels around, finding the blockage covers the entire portal.
A good solid push on the perceived door seems to do the trick when a ray of normal light shines through into the blue shimmer. Pushing a little harder results in a few things happening.
First, the music, light, and noises from beyond become much louder. Second, you can now see that you are looking at the back of what appears to be a wooden bookshelf or something similar. And lastly, a gruff, snorting voice can suddenly be heard from beyond the now partially opened entrance, speaking in the common tongue.
"Hey! What the???? Who's back there? What's going on here now? That portal hasn't been used in....."
Anyone risking a look through the partial opening sees a rather frightening sight.

The fighter puts his right hand on the hilt of his sword and remains in a guarding position. Trying a little diplomacy... Hello. Can I buy you a beverage of your choice kind sir!
